Himeji Castle & Kobe Harborland in One Day | Easy Osaka Day Trip (on a Budget)

Good morning. We are heading to the subway station. We got to take two trains. We’re heading to Himiji for the day. Woo. [Music] Here. Just took the train here and Oh. Just walk straight. It’s kind of focusing. And there’s the castle. So, we’re going to try to find a stand. And feel like it might be in the tourist center. So, I don’t know. Maybe not. So, it’s a nice Oh my goodness. A nice little quadruple treat here. Wow. This is why we came all the way to Henry is just for four stamps. Wa. This is so good. What a sick damn. Oh my god. Oh my god. It’s going to be literally all over me. Made it. We are in Hamiji. We just got here. Train was super easy. Yeah. Feel like we were a little confused at first, but there’s a lot going on at Osaka Station. There’s like nine trains all leaving at the same time and but but we figured it out. We just used our IC card and it was yeah, easy. Super simple. Anyhoo, we’re here. We’re walking towards literally as soon as you get out of the train station, the castle’s like right there. So, that’s where we’re going. And we’re here kind of. I mean, we still got a ways to walk, but wow. So, first stroll. First stroll. We’re kind of walking like around the castle. Yeah, we were trying to see if we could get to the Heimeji Shrine for our Gwin books, but we don’t know. We don’t know if we can without paying. I’m sure we could just Google, but we’re just going to walk around and then see if it’s on the other side. Get our steps. Pretty crazy. It’s huge and we’re like probably half a kilometer away from it and it’s still this big. Very cool to see though. We are the only ones here. Yeah. I mean, technically it is a shrine, so we’re just being quiet, but we’re just taking pictures. Yeah, I think that’s allowed. Very beautiful. Mhm. Yeah. Literally the only ones here. Definitely didn’t budget [Music] lunch. Fried chicken salad. $1. It’s honestly not bad. Just finished lunch. What the heck was that? And we’re going to go somewhere special. Just finished an afternoon beer. Beers. Um yeah, it was a vibe. Now we’re in this huge shopping shopping street center thing. I don’t know. Um not that we need to buy anything or shop, but that’s what we’re going to do. Take a left. And then we’re going to Kobe after. Yeah. And we don’t know what to do there, but we’re going to go cuz it’s on the way back to Osaka anyway. So, [Music] [Applause] [Music] you’re never far from a clown machine. I vote to boycott them. I think they’re rigged. You’re the one who always wants to buy things or spend money on them. We have yet to win something. It’s like a dollar here versus like $30 there. Yeah, we haven’t won anything yet, but one day hopefully. I built this itinerary months ago, and it’s crazy that we’re actually here just living it. Oh, yeah. But today was leave Osaka, go to Hamiji, and now a little stop on the way back. We’re in Kobe. I don’t really know what we’re going to do here. The only thing I had flagged was Harborland. And that’s yonder. So, and that’s where we’re going. We’re going to explore. And maybe we stay for an hour or maybe we don’t. [Applause] Wow, what a beautiful harbor. It’s a cool little city. It is a cool little city. And we are definitely Well, we feel like the only tourists here. Yeah, it’s pretty quiet. Yeah, it’s also like a Tuesday evening. So, yeah, that’s true. Got the ferris wheel going back there. We might we might walk down by the water and then we think there’s a park somewhere over there, but I don’t know. Oh, it’s so pretty with like the mountains in the back. Eh, Abby, this is for you. Just a little jellyfish in there. Jellyfishing around. Sorry to bring up [Applause] [Music] [Applause] mems. This guy’s just vibing out on his bike. Oh my god, I’m dizzy looking. [Music] We are either going to get food or heading back to the train station to go back to Osaka. We don’t really know. Depends if we find food first. It’s a 12 hour day already. That’s cra Yeah, I feel it. I’m pooped. I have 27,000 steps. Yeah. [Applause] 460. One more train. Hallelujah. This is all we had energy for was Shake Shack on just outside the subway station. How did you know? I’m chewed. Sam shoot. We’re going to bed after this burger. See you tomorrow. Okay. [Music]

Come along on our full-day adventure from Osaka as we explore the historic beauty of Himeji and the waterfront charm of Kobe! 🏯🚊🌊

We started the morning by hopping on a train from Shin-Osaka to Himeji, hunting down all the Eki stamps before strolling straight toward the iconic Himeji Castle. After soaking up the beauty of the castle grounds and a peaceful visit to Himeji Shrine, we wandered through the Miyuki Street Shopping District and popped into Kogane Brewery for a local beer break.

Next, we caught the train to Kobe, where we explored the lively Harborland, checked out the Kobe Port Tower, and took in the sights around Meriken Park and Umie Mosaic.

Although we dreamed of ending the night with a Kobe steak, our backpacker budget led us to a very satisfying Shake Shack dinner instead β€” and it totally hit the spot πŸ”πŸ™Œ

If you’re traveling Japan on a budget, this is an easy and fun day trip from Osaka that you won’t want to miss.
