Art collective teamLab will open a new permanent digital art space, teamLab Biovortex Kyoto, later this autumn.

Located near Kyoto Station, the museum will feature new and previously unreleased installations in Japan. Among the works on display will be ‘Massless Amorphous Sculpture’, which appears to float mid-air among a sea of bubbles. It is designed to remain suspended in space and can interact with visitors without losing its form.

Another work, ‘Massless Suns and Dark Suns’, presents a room filled with spheres that emit both light and darkness. Other exhibits include ‘Morphing Continuum’, a sculptural piece shaped by energy and its environment, and ‘Traces of Life’, where visitors leave glowing footprints that form continuous trails across the space.

Additional installations exclusive to the Kyoto site are expected to be announced in the coming months.

The new venue follows recent expansions by teamLab across Japan and the Middle East. In January, teamLab Planets Tokyo launched new immersive areas, while teamLab Borderless reopened at Azabudai Hills in Tokyo last year. teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi also began welcoming visitors in April.
