RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka, Vignette Collection is located in located in the culturally rich district of Nakanoshima.
IHG Hotels & Resorts has introduced its luxury soft brand, Vignette Collection, to Japan with the rebrand of the historic RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka, marking the first property in the country to join IHG’s curated collection of unique and character-rich hotels.
Located in the culturally rich district of Nakanoshima, often referred to as Osaka’s “City of Water”, the hotel has played host to dignitaries, royalty, and VIPs since opening its doors in 1935. With its reintroduction as RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka, Vignette Collection, the landmark property has completed an extensive transformation aimed at meeting the expectations of today’s modern luxury guest.
The newly unveiled hotel features more than 1,000 refreshed rooms, including an expansive 700sqm suite, alongside 56 banquet rooms, a full-service fitness centre, and 18 restaurants and bars. Japanese fashion icon Junko Koshino was commissioned to design the new uniforms for hotel staff, adding a fresh cultural touch to the guest experience.
To celebrate the relaunch, the hotel staged a unique ribbon-cutting ceremony using a hand-dyed “tenugui” towel, created with the traditional Osaka “Chusen” dyeing method. As part of the Vignette Collection ethos, the hotel offers signature guest experiences aligned with the brand’s hallmarks of ‘Memorable Rituals’ and ‘A Means For Good’.
Guests can enjoy “Furumai-cha,” a daily ceremonial tea service held in the hotel’s Main Lounge, paired with classical Japanese music played on a Steinway & Sons SPIRIO piano. The ritual is designed to provide a moment of reflection and cultural immersion each afternoon from 3–5pm.
For its community impact initiative, RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka, Vignette Collection will partner with local organisations to support underprivileged secondary and high school students, offering educational activities that foster self-development and growth.
