Doing EVERYTHING Kyoto in a Day

I want to go [Music] morning to the left. Yes. Everything in the box. That’s right. All right. So, we are actually in Osaka today. We’re not really hanging out in Osaka. We’re headed to Kyoto. 6 minute walk now to the Osaka. Osoka. You know, it’s really hard. [Music] Osaka. All right, we are back at the Fushimi Anari. Check it out the gates. Last time we were here, it was September, October. We were making videos a little bit differently. It was one of the first views that we ever made. We’re going to do it a little bit differently this time. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Good performance. No, I’m okay. Bell ringing could have been a little more aggressive, but I don’t want to be loud. See, she just out, did you? [Music] We’re not even that far in. And I feel like we totally missed out on this cuz it just keeps going. I don’t know if these are all on the way there, but just gate after gate after gate. It’s pretty epic, isn’t it? [Music] Bores and monkeys. I got to see what’s over there, too. Wow. I don’t think they walk far enough. No. All right. This has to be one of the coolest places that I would expect there to be a line of people to just walk in here. This is so freaking cool. People are missing out on this one. Like, all my moments on a stair master have prepared me for this moment. [Music] Beautiful place. Got to work my cardio. We have completed to next. Well, we have to get down. Oh boy. And then next in the day, we are taking a train to Geian. Xeon. G I O N. Don’t feed the bores, Jill. Jill doesn’t share food. [Music] [Applause] [Music] All right, Gian. Oh, I like that first building already right over there. That’s cool. The one thing that I’ve been eyeing up and drooling over on Instagram for this whole time I’ve been planning this trip has been like this matcha and chocolate loaf. Enter marble something for the store and he buys exactly what I’ve been drooling over. Delicious. You got to order. Careful. [Music] There it is. I know. I see it. The bamboo forest. [Music] There’s so much to do in Kyoto. Pro tip, just stay in Kyoto and spend weeks here or just move here. Literally trying to do all the things we want to do in Kyoto makes me feel so squirly and exhausted. There you go. He’s Yeah. Like, oh my gosh, look at that. Oh my gosh, look at that. Oh my gosh, look at that. Oh my gosh. There’s geishas everywhere. Is it gisha or geisha? [Music] I have to get that. Are you kidding me? I hate you so much. I’m cold, but I have to try that. I hate you so much. The hate is real. I was watching her from the window stuff those things with custard cream and I was I was having a moment. You ran into those. I did. I ran my head into the glass window. I want the world to know how strong I am right now cuz it smells like crack. What does crack smell like? I don’t know. It smells like butter, which is better than crack. And I am not having these because I will have dreams about this forever. [Music] But there maybe there’s a parade. There’s something there’s like a procession going on so no one can cross. The street just like completely emptied out. It’s really weird. It’s very very quiet. But this is the ending view for us in Kyoto today. I don’t know what’s going on there. We’ve caught up with the parade thing that’s going on here. [Applause] [Music] That was crazy. I did not expect them to do that. Wow. This is back to the train station to get a train to go to Kyoto. Kyoto back to Osaka something and Osaka. Back to the [Music] ship. Twilight. Just how the day is going, huh? I’m tired. My feet are swollen. [Music] Hey. All right. Here. Yeah. Yeah. My burger guy. All right. The Wagu burger stuff. It was worth it. Very good. For some reason, that no drama burger that was still on my mind. That sauce. It’s all about the sauce. 27,000 steps later. It’s been a day. It’s been a day. Back to the cruise ship cuz we have one more day tomorrow here. First time I’ve heard like a choo choo.

Today we had an overnight port day in Osaka and we decided to do just about everything that the city had to offer. We started off with over an hour train ride from Osakako to Kyoto.

Once in Kyoto for the 2nd time in under a year we had to finish the hike to the top of Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine and it didn’t dissapoint.

Next, we made our way to a sight that Jill wanted to see even last time we were in Japan. The bamboo forest near the kodaiji temple so we could get some great photos.

Finally, we ended the day on the famous Geisha Streets where I bought something that Jill had quite the reaction to.

We have two goals:
100 Countries
100 Cruises

We try and make as many videos as we can (daily but not really daily but mostly daily) about the whacky and sometimes totally spontaneous adventures we take. Sometimes we plan out things way in advance and sometimes we have NO clue what we are about to get ourselves into. We also started this so we could watch these videos back in 30 years time to just see how we were. It seems like a good idea!

  1. Jill you are totally right about Kyoto. Was waiting for Nijo Castle but how can one see everything there in a day. I assume you got off at Osaka so the train ride and bus to Kifune Shrine is like 2+ hours. How much time did you have in port?
