TOKYO, JAPAN — FEED ONE Co. Ltd., a Japanese compound feed production and marketing company, announced plans to spend 13 billion yen ($89.7 million) to build a new aquaculture feed mill.

Construction on the factory in Mito, Toyokawa, Aichi Prefecture, is expected to begin in the second half of 2025 as part of the company’s medium-term management plan that sets out its goals for the next 10 years. Completion is expected in April 2028.

“The environment surrounding aquaculture in Japan is expected to diversify needs for compound feed due to rapid changes such as rising seawater temperatures and the depletion of natural resources,” the company said. “In this situation, we have decided to build a new aquaculture feed factory and transfer the production of aquaculture compound feed from the Chita factory in order to fulfill our supply responsibility and create added value for the sustainable development of aquaculture.”

FEED ONE said the new factory is expected to strengthen its competitiveness, support research and development of advanced technologies, and contribute to the sustainable development of the aquaculture industry. The Chita factory will continue to produce livestock feed.

In addition to compound feed, FEED ONE, based in Yokohama, Japan, also is engaged in procurement, sale, production and processing of meat, egg and seafood. Ancillary businesses include farm-management consulting, and management of veterinary examination and treatment facilities.

FEED ONE was established as a holding company in 2014 through the merger of Nippon Formula Feed and Kyodo Shiryo. In the fiscal year ended March 31, FEED ONE reported ordinary profit of 6.7 billion yen ($46.4 million) on sales of 296 billion yen ($2 billion) and production volume of 3.8 million tonnes.
