48 Hours in Naha – Not the Okinawa You Know【Okinawa Japan 2025】
Naha is Okina’s capital city and the biggest city home to around 300,000 people. A lot of travelers land Naha airport, but many visitors head straight to the resort without really stopping in the city. But for so travelers or anyone traveling without a car, Naha can be a convenient and comfortable base with many shops, restaurants, and various choices of hotels. Today, let’s explore Naha and see how much you can see things without a car. Okay, now I found my car and let’s head to the hotel I have tonight. I arrived back in Naha and checked into a hotel in the city, Richmond Hotel that I booked right before I leave the previous hotel. Wow, looks different. Looks like a library or something. Is a window. Oh, yeah. Okay. Looks like rain has finished. While I was searching about the next destination, it was already getting dark. So I took a short walk on Coxai Street which is the main street of Naha. I was checking about the trip and uh I got late so I had to go out to eat something. So let’s walk towards the All right. the Okinawa already. So, I was looking for like a steak to get some energy, but it’s too late. So, let’s see what stores open. That store has a long line. So, that is a okinaoba restaurant. Very casual one I ate before. It’s good. But, uh maybe let’s look for something. Now I’m coming close to Kokai do street. So lots of people mostly non-Japanese people. Looks like Donkey Hotel. There’s something I want to purchase. So, I need to get an SSD kind of outside hard drive so I don’t have any storage on my computer. So, it’s interesting. Mostly uh nonJapanese people, you know, sometimes Japan people go home very early Japan. So, I think they like to stay at the late and to for different stores and everything. So, it’s a very fun atmosphere here. I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed by how many tourists were here. Cockside door street. It’s lined with restaurants and souvenir shops just like any tourist street in the world. [Music] Looks like there aren’t much ahead here. Ah, this is the one we came before. Right. It looks a little different from what I came last [Music] time. So this is a god of water. Local committed life since ancient times. [Music] Wow. Really endless. I don’t usually drink so much in century, so I’m looking for something I don’t have to drink. I You can order soft drink, too. But let’s see if there’s any more kind of food place. I’m ending up eating at McDonald’s. Maybe it’s not quite the Okinawa I remember, but I get it. Sometimes we all just want that easy twisty charm. But standing there alone, surrounded by people without hearing a single word of Japanese, I suddenly felt like I didn’t belong here. It could be just this night. Okay, if I come a little bit far away close to the port, I feel like I’m back to Japan. In the morning, I walk to Namino Beach. Interesting building. There’s a huge gajjima trees. So now we’re coming close to the port called Namino Beach. So this is Asahiga Park. [Music] So this is Namino Beach one in marine strangers. A stingers swim inside jellyfish net. Oh, that’s good. They have the net here so we can swim here. Ah, I see some people swimming already. Wow. line right next to the city and it’s so clear. At that point, I still hadn’t decided on the hotel of that night. I was debating whether to stay in Naha or rent a car again and head south instead. But when I saw the shimmering beautiful sea, I made up my mind to go to Kama Islands. I was curious if this much beautiful in Naha what it’s like in Kama today which is famous for the beautiful beaches as I waited until the last minute I could avoid going to Kam on the rainy days but at the same time there was no hotel available all night anymore so I called one there. So, it’s very difficult. Sometimes good to take a risk. Sometimes it’s better not to take a risk. So, I see the f took lightning. And this last minute decision became the best one night trip to Tokashki Island, which was a previous video to make this video focus on Naha. Let’s continue from the moment I came back from the Tokashi Island. Finally, this long thing Okina is about to finish and one more night left. So that’s the hotel I’m staying tonight. After returning from the Kam Islands, I checked into my last hotel walk in our trip. I think lawyer is the hotel. How many boxes? The location was perfect near Maxi Station and I’d booked it hoping to enjoy the tropical vibe by a poolside in the evening. But unfortunately when I get there the pool area was closed for the private event. It looks like that continued to the night. A little disappointing but that’s how travel goes sometimes. Going to nah from Tokyo is very exciting always but this time coming back from the quiet island na felt like somewhere I didn’t want to come. Seeking the quiet place I said to head to Shiri. So this is a maxi station another station of the UI. So I go to the monol and you can walk to sh castle from here. This is also a check on internet. It should be a Shiri soar restaurant on the corner. We come from the Shi station and town at this many machine. People waiting. It was crowded but I was lucky to get in quickly. [Music] It was so good. If you go definitely get the simana pork set. The meat was incredible. I think if you come here it’s better to order nitsk kind of the only meat and partic. So I’d like to explore this little town of Aran Shuri. There’s a castle route started going up here. Let’s look for another one. This is a succession gate. So, usually you enter from the other way like this. But so, I mean behind actually. After that, I walked through Shirou Castle and down the old stone pathway. [Music] Nice view of the east China [Music] going down this way. Just as I hoped, the area still hold a quiet pocket of what feels like old Okinawa. I wonder if this is actually the warm and wet breeze was strong but felt very good. Very nice coffee shop. Okinawa Zenzai came. It’s very good. Black sugar and it’s really good. A very nice carpet. I’ll click it. Oh, this one. Further down the slope, I came across a giant tree, the great Akagi of Kinjou. Sika tree said to be over 200 years old. It’s been standing there since the days of the Luku Kingdom. Surrounded by the giant trees, I felt like time slows down. big tree. Wow. Oh, it’s very hard to walk on this tree. So that’s the house here. traditional style of building. They’re arguing about the rule of the hide and seek. So looks like if I go down here go to the main kind of street and it continue to naha and now I decide to walk back to my hotel along the cockai dori wondering what’s in between so okina has been a dominant family m and a little bit of losome recently 71 start to come and competent So it’s getting a little bit busy area kind of back to the town. I came to an area near Asato [Music] station. Looks like there are some shops and streets in front of the station too. Awesome toast. something very nostalgic. So, this is a popular coffee [Music] shop. That’s a very nice coffee shop. It’s right here. Very nice coffee shop. And so so nice and relaxing. [Music] This is the entrance of Coxi from Asato to Maxi. Very close. Hotels operated by Orion Via Company. Hotel Okina with Sanio characters. Hotel Opina with Sanio characters. Interesting. There’s any time of fitness here. I dist right in front of the Hayatt Hotel. This coffee shop was the most asked questions from the previous video of Okinawa. It’s right in front of the Hayatt Hotel. I arrived to Moro Mati station. There’s a DFS Galleria with all the brands and lots of different shopping center like so let’s go. It’s two station from Maxi Station. That evening I visit the Okina Prefecture Museum. Today is Sunday so they open until 8:00. So I’d like to go in. Very nice building. Most of the exhibits were only in Japanese, so I won’t go in detail, but one display about the sea turtle caught my eyes. It remind me of something I couldn’t fit into the KMA video. The green sea turtle I saw live close to the islands, but the logo head, they are more mysterious. Some of them are born on Japanese beaches, then travel across the Pacific all the way to the waters of the Californiaifornian coast. Then they pass near Hawaii and return to Japan to lay eggs. I suddenly remembered seeing a TV program about a researcher in California talking about this maybe like 20 years ago. It’s going back. It’s so easy. It’s going down the hill to Cockidori. The back pass has a lot of different [Music] things. Next day, strong wind swept through Okinawa. almost like the island was pushing me out. This trip started with a heavy feeling. At one point, I really thought maybe I won’t come back here again. But thanks to finding Koda in rainy days and the beautiful Tokashiki Island, I left Okina already thinking about where I’d like to go next, which island I’d like to go. And just after I got home, I heard some great news. A dugong was spotted near Kou Island like something out of a dream. Thank you for watching. If you have a chance to go to Okinawa and have some times, probably it might be good to explore the off the main street of Zaha city too. Thank you for watching. Have a great trip to Japan. Have a great week and to the next video.
