Tokyo Part 2 | A Day at Mount Fuji & Neon lights in Shinjuku #japan #solotravel

Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Hello dear friends and globe trotters around the world. Welcome to the second part of my Tokyo video. Today I’m doing a day trip outside the city of Tro Tokyo. I joined a tour group all the way to the amazing Mount Fuji. Here it is. Look at this beauty. This was my last, not last, but almost the second last day of my trip in Japan and I wanted to see the Mount Fuji. The problem is that the weather must be good. Otherwise, you come all the way here and all you see are just clouds. My journey starts here at the Churito Pagoda on the hills opposite Mount Fuji which has an iconic view which is often featured on Japan’s postcards and of course it’s all over social media and you will see that image shortly. Okay, while I’m walking up I’m going to tell you some interesting facts about Mount Fuji. First of all, it’s an active strat volcano located on the Japanese island of Honu. Stands at 3,776 m, making it the highest mountain in the whole of Japan. Although um Mount Fuji has erupted more than 15 times since 781. The last eruption was in 1708 and it has remained dormant since then. Despite its inactivity, scientists keep on monitoring it closely for any sign of future eruption. After climbing nearly 400 steps, here I am. I reached the Kurito Pagoda, fivetory pagoda with stunning views of Mount Fuji. Fuji is one of Japan’s three holy mountains and it’s also UNESCO World Heritage site. If you’re interested in climbing Mount Fuji, the official season is uh July and August and there are several several routes leading to the summit. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the time to do that, but it’s been amazing. If you decide to visit Japan, I can’t recommend enough to to see this beautiful volcano. It’s an incredible experience and you’re surrounded by this uh amazing landscapes, especially during spring and autumn time. While I’m continuing exploring the surrounding area of Mount Fuji, my next stop will be the Naruawa ice cave, which is a fascinating lava cave located in the forest called Aoki Gajara. It was formed by an eruption of Mount Nagawa, creating this subterranean uh realm where temperatures remain on the 0° all year round. Inside the case, we can find this natural high pillars that grow larger in winter, of course, creating um this beautiful atmosphere. Historically, the cave was used as a natural refrigerator to store seeds and silkworm cocoons, as you can see here. All right, I’m getting out of the cave now and I will be exploring a little bit the Hokiara forest. The ground here is made of hard lava. So it feels different from uh other forests and sometimes is called sea of trees because it looks like a green ocean when you look at it from above. It is also a very silent uh place because the trees block the wind and every sound. Some people say it is mysterious and tell stories about the ghost. Uh it’s also easy to get lost around here because everything looks the same. I’m not going to venture into it. I don’t want to get lost around here. And this reminds me the movie The Blair Witch Project. I’ve been told that it’s often called the suicide forest because unfortunately it gain a reputation as a place where people take their own lives. Since the 60s there’s been dozen to over 100 individuals uh taking their own life each year here. Authorities have placed signs like this one throughout the forest, encouraging visitors to reconsider their actions and seek help if they came here for that purpose. Okay guys, this is my last stop today. I’m at Oshi Park, a beautiful lakeside park located near Lake Kawaguchi. This park is famous for stunning views of Mount Fuji, making it a very popular port for photography and also relaxation. The park is also known for its seasonal flowers creating a stunning contrast against the Mount Fuji. There are also several walking trails where you can enjoy the view, take pictures. There are picnic areas, small cafes, uh offering local trades. Uh so it’s pretty cool. I really enjoyed it. It’s no cap peak and standing surrounding make Mount Fuji one of the most photographed mountains in the world. Its perfectly symmetrical cone shape, making it one of the most recognizable mountains uh uh around the world. This symmetry is the result of thousands of years of volcanic [Music] activity. This evening, I’m taking you to the heart of Tokyo, Shinjuku City, one of Tokyo’s most vibrant and dynamic district. Just outside Shinjuku Station’s east exit, you’ll be welcomed by this curved 3D billboard screen displaying 4K images like this famous giant cat, which wakes up at 7:00 a.m. and goes to sleep at 1:00 a.m. every day. It’s worth to mention that the Shinjuku station is the busiest railway station in the world, handling millions of passengers daily. And now walking randomly around Shinjuku. I think I am now in the Kabukicho area which is also known as the red light district uh neighborhood of Shinjuku. Actually this is the futuristic image I had uh in mind about Tokyo. So, all these colorful uh neon skyscrapers, this sort of Blade Runner uh future uh city. It’s pretty cool. I really really enjoy it. And it’s big. The area is big. So, and it’s bustling 24/7. So, you will never get bored around here. As a solo traveler, I enjoy walking randomly uh in big cities, getting lost, and going with the flow. You will discover lots of cool things. Let’s go. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] While walking around Kabukicho, I’ve come across this famous street called Godzilla Road, which is known for its uh towering Godzilla head over the hotel gracery. here in Shinjuku now. Yeah, you can see it over there in the background. So, let’s go and see it from [Music] [Music] closer. Here it is, the massive Godzilla statue. Yeah, you know that between noon and 8:00 p.m. the statue comes to life roaring with the laser balls from its eye and fiery breath. I’m going to try to show you That was fantastic. Godzilla versus Japan. All right, this is it for tonight. I’m heading to the hotel and tomorrow is going to be my last day, unfortunately, here in Tokyo. So, see you in the morning. The day after. Good morning, my friends, and welcome to the hip and laid-back neighborhood of Nakameuro. Today is my last day, unfortunately, and uh the day is beautiful, so I wanted to check out this popular place during the Sakura period in Japan. [Music] I’m going to enjoy this beautiful walk along this river canal where there are over 800 trees lining a 3.8 kilometer stretch. As you can see, it’s all surrounded by this beautiful cherry blossom tree creating this magical atmosphere. So yeah, come with me and let’s go. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] And then in the afternoon, I reached the Tokyo Tower, one of Japan’s most iconic landmarks, standing in 333 m tall in the neighborhood of Minato, Tokyo. It’s inspired, as you can see, by the fell Tower in Paris. It was completed in 1958 and served as Japan’s tallest structure until Tokyo Sky Tree of course which surpassed it in 2012. Of course, you can reach the top deck and enjoy the stunning views from uh above. However, if you have to decide be between Tokyo Tower and Sky Tree, I would I would recommend the second one because yeah, I enjoyed it. I really really like it. So, I doubt this is going to be any better, but feel free to do both if you want. Up to you. This is just my personal opinion. All right. Tonight, I’m back in Shinjuku to visit Omo Yoko, also known as Memory Lane. It’s uh this nostalgic alleyway famous for its tiny old school eeries. Uh it’s near Shunjiku station’s west exit. And here you can find this maze of narrow streets packed with the yakitori stalls. Yeah. On your left and right there are ramen shop everything. Everyone offering an authentic taste of Japanese food and of course drink a lovely sake. This is it from Japan. Thank you so much for watching my video until the end. Tomorrow I’m flying back to the UK, but please follow me on Instagram and of course subscribe my channel here on YouTube for more exclusive content. See you in the next video for a new exciting destination. Ciao. [Music]
