Naomi Osaka was touched by her mother, Tamaki’s, thoughtful gesture, which she made at the 2025 French Open. The clay court Major is set to take place from May 25 to Jun. 8, 2025, at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris.

Last year, Osaka made it to the second round of the French Open before being defeated by top seed and eventual champion Iga Świątek.

This year, Osaka began her clay court season at the 2025 Madrid Open, where she lost 4-6, 6-2, 4-6 to Lucia Bronzetti in the first round. She then participated in the L’Open 35 de Saint-Malo, where she received a wild card entry into the main draw and was seeded second.

The former World No. 1 triumphed over  Petra Marčinko, Diane Parry, Elsa Jacquemot, and Léolia Jeanjean to reach the final. Osaka defeated Kaja Juva in the championship match, winning 6-1, 7-5 to secure the title.

Ahead of the French Open, Osaka competed at the Italian Open, where she registered wins over wild card Sara Errani, lucky loser Viktorija Golubic, and Marie Bouzkova in the first three rounds. Still, her run came to an end in the fourth round, losing with a scoreline of 4-6, 6-3, 6-7(4) to Peyton Stearns.

Following the conclusion of her campaign in Rome, Naomi Osaka has traveled to Paris for the French Open. She recently shared a heartwarming photo on social media featuring a couple of boxes of food, including rice and stew, which she revealed that her mother Tamaki had brought for her “on site,” at Roland Garros.

“My mom >>>> Made me stew and brought it on site ❤️,” Naomi Osaka captioned her Instagram story.

In 2018 and 2019, Madison Keys and Kateřina Siniaková eliminated her in the third round, respectively.

At the 2024 French Open, Badosa advanced to the third round before being eliminated by Aryna Sabalenka.

The first round match between Osaka and Badosa will mark their maiden encounter on the WTA Tour. The winner of this match will advance to face either Elena-Gabriela Ruse or McCartney Kessler in the second round.
