This ABANDONED Cold War Mansion Hides a Chilling Past

[Music] Eastern Germany, a place the past hasn’t quite let go. Deep in the woods, where roads turn to roads and stories go untold, we find ourselves on the edge of a forgotten village to explore a house long erased from memory. [Music] Its windows are hollow. Its silence is [Music] heavy. No footsteps have broken the silence here in years until ours today. Who was the person that used to live here? And what exactly were they hiding? [Music] The last resident went by the name Olaf. And what we will find inside are no traces of an ordinary life. And this was no ordinary house. [Music] [Applause] Hidden beneath layers of decay, life fragments of a forgotten system overshadowed by the Cold War. By the end of this video, you will understand what this house truly was. Check this out. [Music] Yeah, it is a warm summer day in the east of Germany. Welcome back everybody on a brand new video. The place you’re going to see today is unlike no other. By coincidence, I just met a friend of mine that I seen in 2019, a fellow German YouTuber. We’re going to explore this place together, and trust me, it’s freaking incredible. [Music] Hey, she’s getting in a [Music] car. Right there. We have a shed. There was only one open window over there. Now, the reason I’m whispering is because neighbors are really close. And they were ours. As you can tell over here, they already tried boarding it up. Very overgrown [Music] garden. Made it. [Music] All right, we made our way inside this house. We’re already in a room full of books. A lot of story reading books. Some of them are already covered in mold. Actually speaking about mold, I’ll briefly show you this room and after that I’m going to wear a mask because I believe there is going to be a lot of mold inside. The plants and also the cacti completely dry and barren. Even still this pocket television and it was for in the car mini car TV. Still some things hanging up here. But you might be thinking, what do I hear? Even though time has stopped here. The clock is still ticking. It’s crazy. What the heck? Why is this still ticking? That’s very, very strange. Now, this is a very little room. Oh yeah, we still have some faded frames of places in Italy. And I also think in Spain, this is definitely Venice. Behind the door here, we have a bathroom. Okay, I’m going to be putting on my mask right now. Definitely necessary. All right, let’s continue. Oh my gosh. It’s good that I put that respirator on because look at this room. Wallpaper is peeling. Frames completely decrepit. This one has even fallen down. Imagine that this was once a room where people slept. Currently, it is really reclaimed by mother nature. And trust me when you’re going to see the rest of the rooms. Time has not been kind to this place. But what you’re about to witness is far more than just decay. Each room into this house will reveal something else. A life frozen then forgotten. This journey becomes not just emotional but dangerous as you’ll later see that some parts of the house are already gone whereas others are barely holding on. Beautiful painting over here was probably hanging up right here on the wall. It fell down perfectly balancing on the sharp television right here. [Music] Oh, and look at these kind of crawls. They once used to be right in the door entrance here, but also fallen down. And talking about this balance game, this wardrobe is not going to last the coon’s age anymore to completely fall down. Crazy thing is you can still see clos inside and even some bed sheets. Wow. When we speak about the beauty of decay, that’s what you’re going to see today. Really, this place is a true decaying treasure. Everything inside is slowly getting lost. I’m not sure why they covered this with bubble foam, bubble plastic as if it is new. In the corner over here, another one of these pocket televisions and also this tiny clock still saying Berlin. Crazy crazy apocalyptic scenes and sides here already. But let’s continue through another extremely decaying corridor. Over here we have the back door to the garden. Can even see the insulation foam door just in the middle of the corridor here. And on my left hand side there is another room. You can tell paint and wallpaper has all been peeling. There is even still this suitcase standing. [Music] Stratic feels empty. Look how this paint is all peeling too. I’m not even going to touch it. That is incredible. We have a little full bed over here. Still some lamps inside. Even some cat food. So I assume they definitely had some four feeded feral friends running around here at some point. My gosh. Well, let’s continue through the corridor. First thing that we saw. Trust me when I say this decing corridor is going to lead us to some magical rooms. But first, just a little toilet right here. Oh my, look at this passage. Door is covered in black mold. Has already completely fallen out. Holy. Let’s see. Oh, we have another bedroom right here. You can clearly see the signs of decay and neglect. a skin right there. I think of a wild boar or something hanging on the wall. Some rather modern lamps. And it does make sense given that the place has been abandoned since 2015. It’s very hard to believe how quickly decline can go when the roof is in a bad shape. Home trainer right here. And look at this again. The heater covered in bubble plastic. It’s crazy. You can see so many signs of dry rot on the walls and the ceilings in nearly every corner. And now in here, believe it or not, we still have some pieces of clothes. Another door. And yet another bedroom. Not sure why there are going to be so many bathrooms in this place, but trust me, there are a lot. And I have some some possible theories about this place. At the time, I had no idea what this building truly was, but it’s unusual layouts, the endless rooms and doors, felt somehow intentional. And soon you’ll find out what this place once served for and it’s forgotten role in history. My gosh, the mold is very bad. This is like another toilet bathroom. I can probably not see it, but you can. I’m not going to touch that black mold. speakers here, a chest. And what we have here right in front of us was once the main entrance, the hallway of this home where the people would come inside, walk in their home each and every day. Currently, little is left of their charming and warm home. Let’s see if I can open this rusty chest. No, I can’t. I’m even lifting it up right here. Some more very dead plants. Crazy. Also, look at the ornament right here. By the way, it’s also completely mold ridden. I even see insects crawling in it. Wow. Imagine what we see in front of us on the ground is all the last pus that was once delivered. And these frames are so faded that you cannot even see what was once on them. It’s history forever. What are all these ornaments? They are ever particular. Can you believe that just nine years ago, someone still walked through this door and opened it with the key that’s even still inside the lock. Now, as I told you, the story of the past owner, Mr. Olaf, is rather morbid. makes us wonder what happens when we go. Do we have people that care or would it also happen to us? And one other thing, I’m going to turn off my lights. Not sure if you can hear it, but electricity is still running. It is really a miracle that this place has not caught a fire is still standing here with this kind of decay and leakage. It’s really a miracle. Really a miracle. As you can tell, we have another moldy door over here. And this was like the downstairs stairwell where they could hang up some jackets, some hats. This clock is not ticking anymore. Is that even like a radio? Oh my. Look at this collapse. It’s crazy, guys. Not even sure if we can still go up there, but we got to give it a shot at least. Now we have some nice tiles over here. Oh, but this is strange. There is a lady’s sign on the door of this toilet. Over here is a man’s sign on the door as if this was like a public place that was once open like a restaurant, a bar, a typical German basheta that they call it hotel and restaurant combined. Maybe maybe at some point in the past. Why elsewise would they put this on the doors? You only see this in bars and restrooms. That’s when things started to feel off. Toilets labeled for men and women in what was supposed to be a private home. The layouts, the signs, the scale. Piece by piece, it became clear. This house had once been more than just someone’s residence. But what exactly it was would take more time to uncover. Now, let’s head back. In a bit, we’re definitely going to check out the upstairs. But before I might break a leg, let’s see what this says. Kella, that’s the German word for basement. I’m curious. Ooh, look at the staircase right here. Mama mia. That is really dodgy. Okay. Let’s give it a [Music] shot. All right, made it luckily unscathe. As you can tell, this was some kind of storage for food products. But look at it. It’s like Thai food. Coconut milk. Expired in 2006. Oh, I thought for a second this was firework, was actually charcoal for the stoves. And they also have some wood storage. That was probably for wood burning stoves. Look also how rusty this heating system is. More magazines from 2015, guys. Really? Winter 2015. Given that’s winter, it could be that the place got abandoned around Christmas time and that it was a Christmas lonelier than ever before for this house. But I think the floor and the stairs above me are really going to be very, very sketchy. So, this is going to be an adventurous exploration. That’s one thing for sure. Now, we’ve seen some very Molly’s bedrooms. We’ve seen a molly corridor. But what would be behind this door? A decaying spectacle. Holy cow, guys. Look at this. Now, it’s a little bit darker in this room because of all the vegetation around the property, but that won’t kill the fun because we have some good lights with us. Beautiful color windows. Look at all these tiny figurines. Wow. Where they’re hunting an animal. The woodwork in this room is incredible. And then right in the center right here, this massive chandelier that actually crashed on the table from the ceiling. Holy cow, what a place. Television right here. Speakers. No way. Look, I think this is a very old camera. Object objective still there. Wow. Holy Bibles. Beautiful antique wooden cupboard. Well, actually bookshelf in this case. There are books inside. But you can tell that this is a slowly ticking time bump. Beautiful clock over here. Sadly very damaged. You can see the oxidation on the copper. Wow. Another very vintage camera. It’s like a box right here. They even had some other speakers. Okay, so it does seem that these plugs are not connected to power anymore. That’s a good sign given that the main power line is still running. Hopefully no idiot turns on the extensions that go to these plugs. Wow, so many old volumes. And again, these frames are so faded, we really can’t see what’s in them anymore. Look, these books are even about good. Very well-known German, I believe, composer or painter. What a room, right? Also on top, we have beautiful colored glass hunting trophy right there. This is the staircase where we just went in the basement going up. Not sure if we should trust that, but we can give it a shot. Fireplace right here. Clock still on top. Some oil lamps. Imagine when the fire was on. Now, maybe if this was really a hotel or a restaurant, this was like the main area where the people could lounge, could have a drink, have some food. At first, it felt like this place once used to be a strange guest house or maybe even an old countryside hotel. But what I didn’t know back then is that this building once had a very different function. During the Cold War, it served as a secret meeting points for the SED, the ruling party and elite of the former German Democratic Republic. Hidden in the Eastern German countryside, far from the public eye, quiet deals were made here over Cuban cigars and fine liquor. So it was not a hotel, neither a restaurant, but rather a private stronghold for comrades and tailored suits. How this place eventually ended up in the hands of Mr. Olaf. That is a story for later. Wa! The staircase is very, very decrepit. And you can also clearly see the ceiling damage. The roof must be in a terrible shape. That’s why decay went so quickly for this place. Even still over here. Wow. Hourglass. I think it’s like 1 minute or something. But let’s see how long it takes. Over here you can see more signs of dry rods. The DK is a monk’s belief. But what a sight to behold. Let’s see what’s behind here. Oh, this was like another door, another entrance to their front garden. There is a lot of dry rod over here. You can see all the fungi really damaging the property because of humidity. [Applause] A lot of beer bottles. Some of them still not finished or consumed in these crates. Right here, a few. What is it? More spices or something. Even peppers in there. Oo, and this was the kitchen. That’s something we haven’t seen yet. Plants are again completely dry and barren. And look at all these fruits still conserved in these jars. Actually, when I see the kitchen now, it does look a little bit like an industrial kitchen. Like this place could have been maybe a little restaurant or something cuz look at this guys. Also, all these different beer glasses. There is a significant chance that some point in the past this was really a German gosh deta. But I think we’re on to our first dangerous adventure during this video. Am I looking forward to this? Uh, not really, but I want to find out what’s up there. And that is exceeding my um, yeah, my mood of not willing to go up here. But given that this is really dangerous, I’m going to ask my buddy behind the camera to assist me. Hold my camera and in this way it might be possible. Got to be careful. This seems kind of sturdy. Now, one big step over here. This one is [Applause] sketchy. If you’re watching this video, guys, please hit the thumbs up because I think this takes courage. Right here, this quarter is also very, very poor state. I’m going to have to be careful. Okay, bro. Please stay down because I think it’s too dangerous. We go with two people. So, if something happens, at least you’re there. Um, I think it’s the best idea. All right, there I am. Let’s see what we can find here. Ooh. Wow. What is this room? Oh, this is from 2016. From February. Even granddaughter over here. Maybe a lot of plans. Again, this one is giant. This also says 2016. In that case, DK has gone really quick for this place. Look at this room. All these PCs. Even this audio device, I think, over there. Tape recorder. 3D glasses. Pictures right over here covered in mold. What is it about? One of these men in the picture is probably Mr. Olaf. Mr. Olaf still sat in this room just 10 years ago. Well, even less 8 years ago in front of these Mooney doors. All his LP, his entire LP collection is still [Music] here. Yeah, this all completely mold ridden. Not any value anymore. Not even sentimental value to anyone, it seems. Vintage typewriter. There are so many electric cables. All these cassettes. What’s in here? O, it’s very moldy. Even though I’m wearing gloves, looks disgusting. Seems he really really loved audio and everything that had to do with telecommunication, radio. And there was a reason for that. Mr. Olaf’s connection to this world of wires and waves ran far deeper than I knew at the time. Later, I would learn that he had a long history in this fields, one that led far beyond this house. That part of the story is coming soon. Got to be careful because the floor in this quarter is really bad, guys. Really, really bad. But I’m going to give you perspective from the upstairs of this room. Really cool. And more books. What is this even? It’s like the first drone or something. I think this was like a hobby. Another hobby. Self-made drone. It’s not cracker. Oh, right here. An entire other sitting corner upstairs. How charming. What is this even? I think like another skin or something or maybe a carpet to make these benches, these old wooden benches nice and soft. This funny figurine over here again. And this was definitely Christmas decoration. Whoa. What is this hair growing? Is it like mold fungi? They’re everywhere here. It’s really strange. I think this is even like a a bow or something. This also looks like Christmas decoration. So imagine maybe it was around Christmas that this man was found here. All the Christmas balls are here still in the box. Maybe he was about to put everything back that he decorated for the festives. Postal card of Hungary. This says 1795. entire collection over here. And then one more final upstairs perspective. Crazy room. I wish there was more natural light. When we came in here, there was more, but given that the sun is slowly going down, we got to hurry a little bit. That also means that we have to be quick because there’s still a lot more to see. So, it’s time. We’ve seen some incredible rooms, but little are you ready for the next floors that are about to follow. We already did a treacherous climb up these stairs. I can’t believe that it didn’t collapse. Maybe we got extremely lucky, but we’re also very experienced, obviously. Now, the next stairs are also going to be sketchy. Gonna show it to you. Already see that they’re getting more weak. Holy cow. Oh my gosh. Now, if you’re wondering, the stairs, we actually put them right here for safety purposes to make it a little bit easier. But at first, we did it without the stairs. Let me tell you, that was really crazy. Now it’s time for the dangerous part. Time for the dangerous part, guys. Oh my gosh. I only have one hand. Okay, bu and overview. Oh, we did it. We did it. Oh my gosh. Okay, we’re at the next floor and we already have some ornaments over here saying use today. Look through every window, live your dream and discover your possibilities in German. The life is a journey and it truly is a journey guys. Life is a journey of ups and downs. Life has also been a journey for the owner that once lived here. This might be kind of a doorbell to his private part. And over here, he could answer the telephone. Hey, hello. Who’s in front of my property? Oh, look at these cute figurines. And also the bees purse hanging there and moldy clothes and even shoes down here. We have an entire corridor. The doors are completely mold ridden again. Still this retro lamp standing here. Ooh, some cleaning products. And again, an animal skin as a decoration piece on the wall. Not sure what this is, but it looks like it’s actually turning. Used to be like painting or something for crazy mold. Crazy mold. Oh, an entire other living room. As you can tell, I was not lying. December 2015, so it was abandoned during Christmas. It was abandoned during Christmas time. Massive wooden cabinet over here. Imagine they once put all these pieces together. Wow. Still liquor bottles. Even a nutcracker over here. And some more signs of Asian ornaments. which does make sense if you will see the last room. I also already told you in the introduction of course that this man had an affection, a relation, a link with Buddhism, Mr. Olaf. It’s crazy to see that despite how decayed this place is, how untouched the corners, and also this over here has remained. Nearly anything seems to be stolen or missing in this home. Glass is still here and a whole lot of boobs on top. All right. Some rather modern art. And even inside there are cobwebs between the ornaments. Ooh, chocolate sticks. Orange. Expired in 2017. So he must have b parties to enjoy them in his very last uh days of life. I’d assume. I think this was really maybe the last living room where he used to spend his days listening to music since he loved everything that has to do with music, audio, visual stuff as we’ve seen in this other hobby room. But was he a collector? Was he a professional? Something we haven’t found out yet. Sony sound systems over here. Even entire stereo mixer panel. Crazy. All right, give it on. Just imagining there was once so much vivid melodies going through these homes. He also liked of course to watch television. And this was the sofa. The sofa where he would spend the time on. Also a nice clock right here. Still shiny a little bit. It’s from Germany. That’s this cool carved horse on top. W Chronic World Chronic 1493. Seems that he was interested in history, Middle Ages. And right here was actually like a walk-in closet with still all the clothes completely getting taken over by mold. It’s extremely sad. Not just what happened here, but also that these belongings were not saved. But the saddest is that this man still lost his life and was found after weeks after weeks. [Music] What I find strange is we have panels over here. They must be ceiling panels from a room, I’d assume that we’re about to see. And someone put them there. This calendar says November. jikes. There are literally mushrooms, black mushrooms growing there in the corner and fungi underground. I’m not even going to show them more detail, guys, but you get the point. This place is crazily decayed. That’s disgusting. Now the next room. I think another living room. Wow. Honestly, look at this cabinet. It still looks so clean. No signs of mold, barely any dust. And on top of here, we have all these mini jugs hanging as decoration pieces. It’s strange because if you look to the walls, you see black mold again, but the furniture remains pretty much undisturbed. That means that this definitely good wood, good material. pocket heater and again more speakers. Another clock for some reason again the heater covered in bubble plastic. If anybody knows what’s the reason for that or a possible reason for that, please leave it in the comments right on below because it’s making me really curious right now. We have some nice knives over here still left in these boxes. Although the other boxes seem empty where they could stamp, make some things smaller. There are some really interesting items. And this says 2010. And continuing we have another part. Now would it really have been from Mr. Olaf or would it have been a multi-family apartment? To be brutally honest, I’ve only found the name Olaf and no other name whatsoever in this home. But also in this home and in this room, the heater is covered with bubble foam. Over here are still letters that I’m not going to show into detail, but they are from a local pharmacy for Mr. Olaf in 2015. The room is also equipped with speakers and even this African ornament over here. Now, keep watching because you are going to see more of this in a bit. It’s going to be incredible and I think you’re not ready for what’s about to follow. That’s right. The final floor holds the real treasures. It’s like a forgotten museum of Cold War electronics, tangled audio gear, Soviet era radios, and even one of the first telephones ever made. Among the circuits and dust, we even discover a space that feels almost [Music] sacred. Keep watching as it only gets more surprising from here. But first, we have some more details over here and also some more unusual ornaments, some crystal stone, some minerals. Oh my, these are even real fruits. They’re just completely moldy. You wouldn’t even recognize it anymore. [Music] more speakers. Even this nice clock and another room with a television. Every corner has speakers, even right there and right there. So, they had like a real Dolby surround coming from every corner of the house. And this is the room where these tiles were falling down. This one is really close to collapsing soon. Then attached to here. Finally, the kitchen area. Wo, this has remained really untouched. Again, all these baby jucks, some plates. Super cute. Strangely enough, this fridge is empty. Maybe he didn’t use this kitchen anymore. Cuz I would think if a corpse was discovered here that the food was also still left. It would not have been taken out. Floor feels sketchy here. So, this is as far as I’m going to go. But these are all still completely full. Wow. Also look on top. This is veritably untouched. All corners of this kazzy kitchen right here. [Music] Now, let’s walk back to the sketchy staircase because I already gave you a little hint when we found the African ornaments that something incredible is going to follow right now. We are going to step in an abandoned museum. Trust me. And we didn’t expect that that would still be here given how decayed also that main living room downstairs was. But trust me when I say that this is really a rare discovery. An incredible find. I’m eager to go up these stairs. But also on the other floor, we have to be utterly discreet. Oh, okay. when you hear something. It’s my other friend also making a video. He’s downstairs just for your information. Still a very old vintage radio right here. All right, let’s wow. Beautiful metal plate right here. Guys, look at the staircase, spider webs, and these were also once kind of frames, but you cannot see anything anymore. Now, right here, when I stand on this, this is really just um a tapestry. Like, I have to be careful. But look at this quarter. There are these glass cabinets still with a lot of things on display. But that’s not everything. So, I’m going to make a big step now right to here. Still this nice cross over here. Some toys. What is this even? All these calculators on display. Oh, wow. There’s some really, really interesting items already. Okay, given that my friend is filming the other perspective and this floor is in a terrible state, we got to be very couches. Look at these old devices. This old film recorder, guys, that’s history of what I’m currently doing filming this video. older razor and these tins, the film reels used to go inside. Wow. Not sure what this was. Maybe like oscilloscope camera. And I think I’m not sure but I think that this is also very very old camera. It could be, but again, this stuff is way before my time. It’s so old. You maybe already expected that we were going to find some treasures here, given that you’ve already seen two old cameras. And yeah, there were more. Look in here. What is this device? You’re probably going to hear me say this a lot of times. What is this device? Because I simply going to see so many devices that I’ve never seen before. This is like maybe a microscope or something. At least it looks like it. Really, if there are any experienced people watching this video that have knowledge about what I’m finding, I would really appreciate if you can leave a comment under this video with um some timestamps. I found this moldy photo album and look at the old momento still in there. really a bygon era. Would it be this house? I don’t think [Music] so. Photography, audio, video. A little bit like me. Except for the radio. I haven’t done a lot with the radio yet. Look in here. It’s probably still decoration for Christmas. These books probably used to be some cookies inside. Now, the doors where I’m current currently standing on, I’m not sure who placed them there, but that person made it possible for us to walk to the next part since without those, the entire floor would collapse. No kidding. Yeah, I cannot open this up anymore. It’s probably is possible. Yeah, some CDs inside. What are these? Like old discs. But I think it’s it’s not as old as a floppy disc. That one is older. Oo, little elevation right here with these stairs. You can just hear the entire structure squeaking. My friend is every time remaining on distance in case something happens. At least we can save ourselves. And of course, my German friends are also still downstairs. So, we are with a good team today. Look at this. Holy cow. Wow. Another one of these hobby rooms. How many did Mr. Olaf had there? again screens, a keyboard, and these very old stereo devices. What also reels, but I think this was all for audio. Nothing for video. And even look how many cables he’s hanging here. It’s unbelievable. printer, a record player. This was his desk. Wow. Old pictures on top of here. Even a birthday wish card. Oh, yeah. It was from the children. My dearest father, during your birthday, I congratulate you completely, heartly. Archer and Melanie, we wish you a stable health a lot of strength and with that I cannot read the rest unfortunately but it’s wonderful to find this from one of the children wrote the entire letter and this really makes you wonder with children most likely still alive. Where are they? Where are the offspring to save the relics of this man? A man that was definitely a very special person given what he collected. He was very passionate. He seems to be having very passionate of course with all the items that we found. There are a lot more wish cards right here. and unfortunately too many that we have time since it’s already getting a little bit darker outside and we’re nearing dusk. So, uh yeah, slowly going to be heading back on this floor and currently the best is to [Music] follow. So, you can see there are even numbers on the doors. Again, a lot of questions about this place. It’s going to be a big step. All right, let’s open it. What? All these bottles and glasses. Look at it, guys. Again, a television. My gosh, there are so many ornaments in this room. This was definitely maybe like his little man cave or something. He liked having some booze. And again, African ornaments. Now, the man might have been well traveled. Maybe he was just a collector. Who knows? But at least it was a man with a very broad interest and probably also a man that read a lot about the world. Look at these seeds. Looks Yeah. Egyptian. You can see the pharaoh on there. So this is like a room with a lot of African ornaments. I told you guys we are going to see a museum in the last part of this video. Wow. Arabic, I think. Really so much to see. Even this little Christmas tree. And these used to be shot glasses, I think, but they put candles inside. Oh, look. The famous castle island in France. These are all like I think no own pictures but just like cards maybe that they collected from travels. Given that he collected so much, I think he was a welltraveled soul who liked to collecting all of these in this nice book. Oh, you see postal cars. This was his collection of postal cards. Maybe he didn’t travel to all the destinations, but maybe he just like collecting to all these postal cards. Wa! Check this out. This is like his collection. I’m going to go into detail of each and every object. I’m a little bit speechless. There is a lot of things that I don’t know what they are. A lot of them maybe you know what they are. Of course here we have all different meters and daisy bell and pair fold. Same goes for here. And then right here, a lot of buttons, other meters maybe. Now, this over here is a very antique radio museum piece. I don’t want to touch too much because I think this is still in a relatively good state. I’m also going to close the lid. You could lock it right here. But that’s incredible. There were so much items to gaze at. How many printers did he own? How many computer screens? Even a microscope in here. There is a fortune in this room. Above me is another television. That’s why I couldn’t fully open up this door. Whole lot of cables. was definitely a very technical guy. Liked playing with cables, with all his equipment. There was a reason for all of this. Mr. Olaf wasn’t just a hobbyist. He was once a graduated engineer for East Germany. aunt and an aunt and a half. In the 1980s, he was stationed in Bucharest where he helped to build telecommunications network that kept the Eastern block connected. And after the wall fell, the state rewarded his service. This residence was given to him by the Troy Hunt, the government agency responsible for privatizing East Germany stateowned properties after reunification. But what may have started as a reward became a quiet [Music] exile. He lived alone. isolated. And when he passed, no one knew. For four weeks, his body remained inside until a neighbor finally sensed something was wrong. A man who once helped connect nations was now gone without a signal. Zaran controller. The Philips telephone. One of the earliest models of telephones ever made in front of us here. This is unbelievable what we’re finding in here. Look at this helmet. Was I think also for communication like you see with the parachute man, maybe even from war. Very old headphones. Oscilloscope right here. The frequencies and the waves would have been projected on that little screen. What is this kind of safe looking device right here? More radios. A fault meter, guys. Right here. These machines are male pieces. They’re from the Soviet Union. Can still see everything written in Russian on the device. Incredible. But last but not least, his own little Buddhistic temple. Look at this dragon poster right here. The man might have been Buddhistic and came from Thailand. Elephant still right here. And a Buddha. Wa. More books. Absolutely incredible. And then right here they had this little corner where they could sit. Even had some pillows for their back. Really never seen anything like this before in an abandoned house. And this actually looks like Sri Lanka to be honest. Or maybe there are also other Asian countries where they wear these traditional orange clothes. If that’s the case, please leave it down in the comment section. And now, right here where this flower pot is standing on is this beautiful porcelain elephant that we’ve seen before. And I think with that having said, I’m just going to have a seat right here on this beautiful temple. Now, given that there was not that much mold inside the space, I think I’m also going to end the video right here. Uh, and I can put my mask off. This place is one to never forget. One for in the books. Definitely for Germany. Um, what about Mr. Olaf? Mr. Olaf eventually uh yeah was found dead by the neighbor as I told you after weeks of the body already decomposing. Why the offspring are not caring? I don’t know. But maybe he has a link to Thailand and maybe has family in Thailand and they were in Thailand for a while and didn’t come back to Germany. Maybe that’s also why it’s complicated to maintain a property, protect it properly. You could tell they tried boarding things up. Maybe it’s done by the neighbors, maybe by the municipality, maybe by the relatives when they were in Germany. Anyway, I uh really hope that the power can be turned off soon in order to protect the sides of catching a fire. Going to try my best for that. Mark my words. And I really want to thank you guys for watching. Mr. Olaf, you were very interesting person. I wish I could have ever met you in person. um please leave the thumbs up for him and also if you like this video and if you’re new to the channel feel free to subscribe now if you want to support us on these journeys on these travels to these abandoned gems around the world um there is a little link in the description to a Patreon page and also uh channel memberships and a PayPal link and yeah guys uh those were a lot of words getting dark we’re going to leave get some dinner. Tucked away in a forest on the eastern edge of Germany stands a mansion few know still exists. Its walls are splitting, its rooms filled with Cold War technology, and its silence — deafening.

In this week’s exploration, we uncover the story of Mr. Olaf, a reclusive East German engineer. Once stationed in Bucharest to build the Eastern Bloc’s telecommunications grid, he was later gifted this house by the Treuhand — the agency responsible for privatizing state assets after reunification.

But long before he lived here, this very property served a darker purpose: it was once a secret meeting point for SED party elites.
And after Olaf’s passing, it was left untouched — until now.

What lies inside is staggering:
📡 Soviet-era electronics and radio equipment
📂 Archives of East German engineering
🕯️ Forgotten Buddhist relics
🪞 Personal memories sealed in dust

We’re taking you on a haunting journey through time — one that starts with the Cold War… and ends in isolation.

  3. this looks like a surveillance room, not a hobby room. Olaf was a spook, a spy. He had history with the Stasi I'll bet.

  4. I cant take the hyper slow talking to, like we're children, and the whining, every time the floor creaked. My time here is too short as it is. No offense.

  5. Heaters covered in bubble wrap maybe because if heat was turned off . Then they may not freeze my guess?Very differant find quite dodgey as you guys would say .

  14. With a bit of paint and some new wallpaper, the place will look brand new :-))
Joking aside – in the rest of Germany, people are desperately searching for houses, and meanwhile, this one’s just sitting there with no one caring…”

Haha, I know where you’ve been, and I hope you also visited a few abandoned psychiatric hospitals in that area 😉 Your videos are, as always, top 👍

Greetings from the other corner of German😂

  15. Hi there, Maureno and your friends with you on such a clandestine mission!! At 52:49, that is a Film Projector for showing Reels of Film onto a Screen. Not a Film Recorder. At 53:16, not an Oscilloscope, but for previewing Reels of Film and possibly editing or altering the Film if he was a Spy or Secret Agent. With all the Reel to Reel Audio Tape Recorders, Cassette Tapes, Cameras, Speakers, TVs, Rooms with Numbers, and the amount of numerous other Electronic Devices, this is way more than a Hobby!! Possibly a Secret Government operation; wonder what was recorded on all those Tapes? Lot of photos were taken and curious about Video Tapes, too? Truly amazing and puzzling adventure!!

  16. É incrivelmente maravilhoso como você consegui trazer essas maravilhas pra nós, minha imaginação viaja com vocês, parabéns ❤
