Everything I ate in Otaru, Japan! 🍣🍈🧀
This is everything I ate in Otaro, Japan. Otaro is a port town in Hokkaido. So, you know what that means? Amazing seafood. I started off with a $41 kaisendon, which is a rice bowl topped with raw seafood. Mine had buttery slices of salmon, crab that was really sweet, creamy sea urchin, and salmon row that pops in your mouth. It was so incredibly fresh and delicious. I also tried some $11 pink shrimp sashimi. Now, I usually love sucking the head, but it was a bit too much for me since it’s raw. Anyways, the shrimp itself was super sweet and delicate, though. Do you like raw seafood? Then I headed out and grabbed a $16 melon with vanilla and melon ice cream. It’s quite pricey, but it’s so refreshing. The melon was super juicy and sweet. Next up, I tried a $5 crab bun, which was warm and pillowy, but there wasn’t much filling. I think I prefer the pork one over the crab. And by the canal, I found a churro store and bought some for $7.50. It had a satisfying crunch with a good amount of cinnamon and sugar. I also got a $7.50 menchi cutlet, which had a super crispy crming with waggy mints inside. It’s a really tasty snack. There were so many Latau stores everywhere I was walking because it originated from this town and they’re famous for their double fromage cheesecake. I ordered the $1 set with tea and it was better than I imagined. It was so smooth and creamy yet light. The top layer literally melts in your mouth. To top it off, the tea had a lovely fruity flavor that paired perfectly with a cheesecake. Finally, for dinner, I went to Naruto Chicken for their $15 half fry chicken meal. I really liked the crispy skin and the meat is pretty juicy. It’s just seasoned with salt and I think it’s a simple and great value meal.
