Postcards from Yahiko Shrine. ❤️⛩️
Endearingly called Yahiko-san by locals, it’s the most important shrine in Niigata. It’s dedicated to the god of strength—Ame-no-Tajikarao—and sits right at the base of Mt. Yahiko. You can hike or take a ropeway up for views of the Sea of Japan and even Sado Island on a clear day. Not bad for a 1,300-year-old shrine tucked into the forest.
