An episode of Anpan, the newest entry in NHK’s six-decade-long Renzoku Terebi Shōsetsu (Serialized TV Novel, also known as “Asadora” or Morning Drama) franchise, aired on Friday, May 9 at 8:00 a.m. and earned a 16.1% rating. A separate episode aired on Tuesday, May 6 at 12:45 p.m. and earned a 6.0% rating.

The new live-action weekday morning series is inspired by the life story of Anpanman manga creator Takashi Yanase and his wife Nobuo Komatsu.

This week’s episode of the live-action series of Mikito Chinen’s Ameku Takao no Suiri Karte (Ameku Takao’s Detective Karte or literally, Ameku Takao’s Mystery Medical Record) novel series aired on Tuesday, May 6 at 9:00 p.m. and earned a 5.8% rating.

Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli’s Porco Rosso aired on NTV on Friday, May 9 at 9:00 p.m. and earned an 8.8% rating.

The live-action film of Hirohiko Araki’s Kishibe Rohan Louvre e Iku (Rohan at the Louvre, or literally, Rohan Kishibe Goes to the Louvre; Rohan au Louvre in French) manga aired on Tuesday, May 6 on TV Tokyo at 1:30 p.m., and earned a 2.4% rating. The 2011 Gekijō-ban Anime Nintama Rantaro Ninjutsu Gakuen Zenin Shutsudō! no Dan film aired on NHK-E on Monday, May 5 at 9:45 a.m. and it earned a 0.7% rating.

The television ratings above are an estimate of the percentage of the population that watch a given program, based on data from a survey of households in Japan’s Kanto region. The ratings do not count recordings that viewers watch later.
