Room 1503, which I was assigned this time. This is a bay view corner double room. The room key is a cylinder type. Insert the key, open the door, and let the room tour begin! I entered the room. The room is 34㎡. You can see it through the lace curtain, but let’s check the view! The view is mainly to the northeast. Not only Yokohama Bay Bridge and the Great Pier, but also Tokyo Tower and Sky Tree if the weather is nice. Below you is Yamashita Park, which was completed by reclaiming rubble from the Great Kanto Earthquake. Like the hotel, it has become a symbol of earthquake recovery. The center of Minato Mirai can be seen from the other window. This is a sight that I personally love. There is a small round table and two chairs by the window. The bed is a wide king size with a width of 200cm. You can sleep comfortably. There is also a hotel logo on the headboard. There are two types of pillows. That’s all for the room tour. Next is an introduction to the club lounge. Hotel New Grand’s club lounge is located on the 16th floor of the tower building. There are two sessions: tea time from 9:00 to 17:00 and cocktail time from 17:00 to 19:00. Drinks and light snacks will be provided. This is the club lounge “The Club”. There aren’t many seats, but since there aren’t many people using it and their stay is short, we didn’t see any crowds when we used it. Bite-sized cream puffs. There are two types of macarons: chocolate and caramel salle. Chocolate chip cookies, tea cookies, almond caramel cookies. Let’s also take a look inside the refrigerator. The exterior, reminiscent of a European hotel, has remained unchanged since its opening in 1927. Let’s go inside the main building. As soon as you enter, you will see a grand staircase leading to the second floor of the main building, which is the symbol of the hotel. There is a lobby on the second floor. The height of the windows, or rather the height of the ceiling, is quite distinctive. This is the Rainbow Ballroom on the second floor of the main building. The Phoenix Room is also on the second floor. It seems that it was the main dining room when it first opened. Returning to exploring the facility, this is the smoking area on the first floor of the main building. On the way to the tower building, there was information posted about the history of the hotel. On the first floor of the main building is the bar “Sea Guardian II,” which has a profound atmosphere. It looks like a good place to relax and spend some adult time while drinking alcohol. The panoramic restaurant “Le Normandie” is located on the 5th floor of the tower building. As the name suggests, it looks like you can enjoy your meal while enjoying the wonderful view. It looks like it will be surrounded by a romantic atmosphere at night. If you have a Western breakfast, you will have it here. I came to “The Cafe” on the first floor of the main building to eat dinner. It’s quite popular, so advance reservations are recommended if possible. When it was our turn to be called, we completed the registration process and were guided to our seats. Here is the menu. I’m really worried about what to do… I entered the store at 5:30 p.m., but the store was quite crowded. Cutlery, napkins, etc. are arranged on the placemat. Since I’m a melon fan, I decided to try the “Adult Cream Soda.” Available for a limited time only, the price is 1,802 yen including tax and service charge. This is “Cream Corn Soup”, 1,897 yen including tax and service charge. “Spaghetti Bolognese”, 2,340 yen including tax and service charge. It’s full of volume! “Spaghetti Neapolitan”, 2,340 yen including tax and service charge. This hotel is the origin of Neapolitan, and it was very delicious! I didn’t have enough food, so I came to Yokohama Chinatown. This is my favorite store that I discovered many years ago. I don’t know the name of the store, but it’s right in front of Yokohama Daisekai. I made it with Taiwanese chicken. This is 650 yen. The batter is crispy, the spices are good, and it’s very delicious! Introducing the exterior from Google Street View. It’s close to the hotel. Return to the hotel and go to the courtyard. The illumination was very beautiful. I personally think that the night view of Yokohama is the best. Well then, it’s time for a good night. good morning! Let’s go have breakfast! I had a hard time deciding which one to have, but I decided to have Japanese food after all! The elevator in the main building has a very solid feel… If you want Japanese food, you will have it at Kumaoantan Kumakita branch. In addition to our main store in Kyoto, we are a Kyoto restaurant that has expanded to hotels in Tokyo and Sendai. For breakfast, choose between white rice or porridge. Both are said to be available for 4,500 yen. At the entrance of the store, you can see the origin of the name Kumayoan. There are also items to take home, such as Hakata Mentaiko. The atmosphere at the entrance of the restaurant makes me look forward to the food. They handed me a breakfast ticket at the entrance and guided me to my seat. Order and wait comfortably at your seat. You can also see the Yokohama Port from your seat. It’s a nice view. The inside of the store. Perhaps because we arrived a little slower, there weren’t many other customers, so we were able to enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace. There are approximately 86 seats. The food has been delivered! fun! I had white rice. Very luxurious in the morning! Four types of small bowls such as hijiki are placed as sticks. Combination. The boiled pumpkin is cut into leaves. Small bowls and grilled fish. The fish was salmon. The grilled salmon was so delicious that I wanted a second helping. There are also 4 kinds of pickles in small quantities. White rice, seaweed, and miso soup. These dishes are truly Japanese breakfast. All of the dishes were very delicious and as expected. In addition, the white rice was served in a bowl. Thank you for the meal! Unfortunately, it was time to check out. How did you like “Hotel New Grand”? A classic Japanese hotel that supported Yokohama’s recovery. It was a very nice hotel where you could feel the evolution while still retaining the good old days. It has good access to tourist spots such as Minato Mirai, Motomachi, Chinatown, and Yamate, and I think it’s the perfect place to start from here and visit places of interest. 横浜の有数の観光スポットからも近い、開業100年が目前となった日本のクラシックホテルの1つである『ホテルニューグランド』に宿泊してきたので、詳しく紹介します！

■ホテルニューグランドはどんなホテル？
1859年に開港した横浜港。
国際貿易がはじまり、多くの外国人が居留地を構え、多くの商館が店を構えていった。
それと同時にホテルの建設もはじまり、今のホテルニューグランドのすぐ近くに建った外国人向けホテルの代表格「グランドホテル」。
こちらがルーツではと言われています。

しかし1923年に発生した関東大震災により、グランドホテルをはじめとしてすべてのホテルが消失する事態となりました。
遠く離れた神戸を拠点に移そうという動きがある中、官民一体となり共同で建設が進められ、1927年に『ホテルニューグランド』として開業に至りました。

ホテルニューグランドを語る際に外すことができない著名人がいます。
まずは横浜生まれの作家、大佛次郎氏。
彼は1931年から10年間、このホテルニューグランドを創作活動の場として選び、数々の著名な作品を残していったとされています。

もう1人が米国の軍人である、ダグラス・マッカーサー元帥。
1937年、彼の新婚旅行の際に訪れたのが初回であり、その後第二次世界大戦後もホテルニューグランドを占領軍将校宿舎として接収し、マッカーサー専用室として315号室に宿泊していたとのこと。
こちらの部屋は現在は「マッカーサーズスイート」という名で呼ばれ、現在では一般客も利用できるようになっています。

他にも喜劇王チャーリー・チャップリンや、ベーブ・ルース氏、池波正太郎氏、石原裕次郎氏、松田優作氏など、国内外の多くの著名人が利用した歴史ある日本を代表するクラシックホテルの1つとして数えられています。
