Secret Street Foods in SHIBUYA! 🥯🍦🍢 (Not Your Usual Tokyo Tour)

Today we’re in Shibuya to feast on a variety of amazing street food. From bagel croissants to kebabs to soft serve, we’re going to try everything. Hey guys, welcome back and greetings from Shibuya. Now, the last time we were here, we did a food truck tour and along the way when we were looking for the food trucks, we passed by lots of street food. So, we thought we do a street food tour. The first place is located at the east side of Shiba Station. So, let’s go. The first stop today is a bagel shop called Maruyama Bagel Loop from Nakashiu, Hokkaido. The last time we did a food truck tour of Shibuya and we passed by this place and it really stuck in my memory and so we have to try this place out. They specialize in croissant bagels. They have a variety of croissant bagels as well as a flavored cream cheese. So, I got the salted butter bagel. This is your number one bestseller. And as you can see, it doesn’t look like your typical bagel. It looks like a Danish almost. And it looks like there’s powdered sugar on top. I’m not exactly sure what it is. Uh, this is what the texture is like. It’s almost like bread, actually. M I guess you could say it’s like a croissant bagel. You’ve got the texture, a little bit the chewiness of a bagel, but the flakiness of the croissant. It’s buttery. It’s also a little bit sweet, a little bit salty. M. That is really good. I think this would be better warmed up, though. And I also got plain cream cheese for my shmear. I thought I get the plain because uh this is made with 100% Hokkaido milk. M. That is yummy. The cream cheese is really, really tasty. It tastes very fresh and it actually makes this taste better. It’s good on its own, but it’s better with the cream cheese. So, mine is a semi-dried tomato and hub. I like this combination of flavors. Outside feels very sakuto my inside moito is crispy nice tomato and herb taste it’s a little bit sweet it’s a natural sweetness of I think it’s tomato and this is a cream cheese contains garlic and onion this is made in house smear on top of this bagel Oh m my favorite flavor onion, garlic and tomato combination. Next thing is soft sab at Sumui. This shop is located at the Shibuchika basement floor in front of Shibuya station. So this place is located under the famous Shiba scramble crossing. Look at this cute Hokkaido milk soft serve. Very milky. M nice milk taste, not the vanilla. It’s pure milk and sugar. Very simple, but it’s really good. Refreshing, but enjoy the milk taste. So, I had to get their matcha puff. You guys know I love matcha, and I could not resist. Uh, this is made with that same rich, creamy Hokkaido milk soft serve, and it comes with some uncle paste and three mochi balls, and it’s sprinkled with matcha powder. M the matcha flavor is super super strong because it’s real matcha on top of the soft serve. And because it’s not matcha ice cream, you can also taste the flavor of the milk. You’re so right. The milk tastes so clean and pure and rich, but it’s also light for some reason. Okay, let’s try it with some of the azuki bean paste. And let’s go for one of the the mochi balls as well. M. This is really good. They are using a milk pastelized at low temperature, so it has a very nice milk taste. It does. Also, this milk is gentle for your stomach. Mhm. Anyway, give it a try if you love milky soft serve. So good. Okay, next destination is Hong Kong Street Food. That’s what the name of this stall is called. I think it’s pretty new. I’ve never seen it before. And this is located in Shibia Center, the main street of Shibia. The the most happening street in Shibuya, I guess. And we got two things, but the first one we got is sumai. Hong Kong style sumai. You can choose soy sauce or the saté sauce. We got it with the saté [Music] sauce. Oh. Oh, the sauce is so good. The sauce tastes like curry a little bit. And the shuma is bouncy and tastes like shrimp. Oh wow, this is better than I expected. M, that is delicious. I got Hong Kong egg waffle. I love this shape. What’s What should I say? This balls. So many balls. M. The same part is crispy. The B part is squishy. Mochi mochi also it’s fluffy and very nice van taste. I can eat in one sitting. This is mine. This is mine. So the next place is Mamo Kebabu. This place is very famous kebab shop. And we bought kebab sando with chicken. They add sauce. We can choose the spiciness. And this is spicy. Oh my. The chicken is tender than I imagined. It’s flavorful. The outside the pitha is fluffy and nice texture. Vegetables are crispy. I’ve never seen you like a kebab so much. Maybe you are thinking how spicy this sausage is. It’s very spicy. My my throat is nowing. It’s so spicy. Okay, this is the spiciest kebab I’ve ever had. I usually get spicy sauce, but it’s never this spicy, but the flavor is really good. And like you said, since the chicken is super tender, the vegetables are really, really crispy and fresh. Oh, so spicy. If you like spicy, this has your name on it. I need some water. Next place is really, really popular. These are creps from Viron Bonjerie and Patisserie. And this is a bakery that has really good bread. This is the only branch of Viron in Tokyo that has these crepes. And we got the butter and sugar crepe. And this is made with a high-end French butter called Ishure. You know, um there wasn’t a long line, but we did have to wait quite a while because they do make each one fresh. I think we waited about 15 minutes, I think. But anyway, let’s give it a try. Really nice and warm. By the way, it is a citron. Oh, you got the citroron. Oh, okay. Okay. So, it’s butter, sugar, and lemon. Ah. Okay. Let’s give this a try. M. Oh, that’s really good flavor. It’s very soft crepes. The very edges, the top here is a little bit crispy. And because it’s thinner, balance of butter, sugar, and a hint of lemon. That’s pretty good. Now the very very comfortable taste of butter. Was the butter on the inside? Yes. It comes now. Oh, maybe I didn’t get the butter. Love this butter. Beautiful. Oh no. Flavor. M. The butter was on the inside. Yep. Yep. I didn’t get any butter in the first one. I I got like a hint of butter. I thought maybe high-end butter was supposed to be a little bit flavorless, but I was wrong. The butter is on the inside. Honestly, flavorful butter. While walking Dogen Zaka Street, which is in a building actually. Yes, in the building. We found a very interesting thing. It’s hot. It’s operated by Donkeyote. It’s a vending machine place. So, vending machine is called Jihanki in Japanese. And here we found lunch pack. Lunch pack vending machine. Yeah, they have uh 30 different varieties of lunch package. Oh, you got to get very quickly. Look at that. Look at that. Amazing. They have basic ones to rare ones, savory ones, sweet ones. Incredible. Recently fall in love with boron. And here they have boron. Number nine is boron. Okay, let’s get that 200 y 09. So this is boron. We love boron. We love lunch pack. Beautiful shupan Japanese bread. This is sweet meat sauce. Sweet tomato sauce. A little bit meat. But you know what? It’s actually quite tasty. Of course, our bolognese is so much bolognese is like 100 times better. But this is good. I like it. It’s like tomatoy beefy. Very little filling but very fluffy bread. You know, it’s your basic uh lunch pack. This jihoniote is quite interesting. They have a machine that dispenses ichin lamin instant, of course. And they have a kuzu ice cream as well. They they also have a fresh orange juice vending machine here. And they have some gacha machines. Oh, no. Crane machines here. Very interesting. This is the bin, the garbage can. Generous trash and um non-burnable trash. But uh you can check today’s fortune. Isn’t that interesting? We do uh garbage. Yeah. With your [Music] trash. Today’s my today’s you are lucky. Interesting. So next we found rice board shop. This is called Shibuya Onimaru. So this shop uh if you watched our Kyoto oniri rice ball video maybe you saw you remember this is the same shop but it’s Shibuya branchi. This shop has a variety of onigiri rice balls and we bought two. So mine is unagi and namashimi Japanese seven spices. So on top look this big slab of eo unagi and on the surface it’s unagi sauce t and on top it’s they sprinkled shimi and there’s egg omelette inside e e this unagi a little bit fluffy chimi pepper matches with this eel taste really good eel and egg is a very good combination so I love yaki onigiri which is grilled rice ball and this one I got the taraco yaki onigiri tarako is a fish roll by the way we bumped into some friends from around the world thank you for saying hello thank you Tina and Hongo from Norway I’m sorry if I butchered your name and Thomas from Greece nice to meet you guys I also see some white sesame seeds that is a piece of taraco and I’m not sure what that is some kind of pass. M. Oh, okay. I did not get to the talafo yet, but there is bonito flakes on the inside. Hard to see, but you can definitely taste the bonito flakes. I love that. M. The taroco, the grilled tarokco is so good. And I believe that sauce is some kind of like mayo sauce. It’s like mayo with a little bit of chili or something. But I love the char flavor of the rice. This is perfect. So last place is called the Shiroi. This is ice dessert shop. Looks like soft sab but it’s not soft sab. They say this is called natural ice. M. This is very milky and tusha is very unique. It’s kind of like so. What a rich milk taste. I love this. This one is the milk is from Hokkaido. So, I got the matcha pafe. Actually, our second time here, and I love this. It’s made with of the same natural ice made with 100% Hokkaido milk, um, azuki beans made with Hokkaido beans, some shiatamoi. You got pumpkin seeds, and you even have uji matcha from Kyoto, which they make right here in the store. So, first you have to start off with the natural ice. Just like Satoshi says, the texture changes like after you wait for a while. Now you know it’s not sab. Oh, it’s so good. It’s like eating frozen milk. It is so good and refreshing. You know, the soft serve we had at the beginning of this video, that one is good in a different way. That one is creamier and richer. This one is like Satoshi says, it’s like sherbet. Both of them are milky, but this one is like it’s like really eating milk. It’s like eating milk, I guess. So, here we go. I got all the components in here. Oh, I’m in love with this. I think what makes this one so special for me personally is the fact that they use real matcha. I mean, you can see her making the matcha like this back there with high quality matcha from Kyoto. And you can really tell. This is such a great way to end this epic food tour. Oh my goodness. I literally cannot eat another bite. We had so much food today. True. You know, I am so surprised, pleasantly surprised at how good the street food was here in Shibuya. I didn’t expect so much. Me neither. What was your favorites? Do you have any standouts for you? Sab. Which one? Both. Both. Okay. Okay. Good answer. And kebab. And the kebab. I can’t believe you chose the kebab. Why did you like the kebab? I’m very curious. The meat was tender and the sauce was spicy but nice. Yeah, the stands out for me were the two soft serve. Same. It’s the same. I mean, the soft serve that we had today, I like them so much. And once again, apologies for the noise. So many planes and helicopters like going across the sky at this time of the day. But anyway, both softers were different. They’re unique. I think they’re different from the typical soft serve that you get at other places. And so I choose both. So make sure to try out some of these foods next time you’re in Shibuya. Thank you so much for watching. We hope you enjoyed it. If you did, please smash that like button and subscribe for more videos like this one if you enjoy these kind of videos. See you in the next one. Bye-bye. Bye guys.
