Kyoto’s Sacred Sights: Fushimi Inari Shrine & Kiyomizu-dera Temple 🇯🇵

konnichiwa Travelmaniacs! Today is
the fourth day in Osaka and today’s plan is to visit Kyoto.
yeah I’m quite excited for Kyoto because I’ve heard
many good things about it. And yeah it’s quite chilly today.
This morning it was 3°C and the weather forecast say it
might rain later in the evening Let’s hope for favorable weather
And yeah let’s enjoy Kyoto with me All right made it to Kyoto now The journey took us about
1 hour I would say Very chilly. Cold Welcome to Fushimi Inari Taisha.
Kyoto’s most iconic Shinto shrine and a place that feels like
stepping into another world. Built in 711 AD, this shrine is dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice, prosperity and business Keep an eye out for the
mystical fox statues or Kitsune believed to be messages of Inari.
Often holding keys in their mouths, These foxes guard the shrine and
symbolize wisdom, protection and a connection to the divine. And those thousands of striking
rate gates you see? they are called Torii Each one donated by individuals or
businesses in hopes of receiving good fortune and blessing in return. You’ve
probably seen these endless rows of vibrant red Torii gates in photos or movies.
But Fushimi Inari is more than just its famous gates. It’s a spiritual journey.
If you follow the path all the way to the summit of Mount Inari, you’re in for a
beautiful 2 to 3 hours hike, winding through peaceful forest and passing
countless mini shrines along the way Let’s go That’s the first Torii gate so far Okay we are approaching
some street food area Probably good time to get some snacks. It’s quite cold. Sweet potato fries?
You want? How much one?
800? This is a sweet potato fries.
Is it sweet potato? Yeah Oh with sugar I thought salt But hard and cold [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Okay
So we are here going to hike up. I’m not sure if
I’m going to go all the way up I heard it takes about 2 hours So maybe partially These are all the torii gates
I wonder how many are there [Music] [Music] [Music] Like I said the weather’s lovely for a stroll the hike up all the way is 2 hours but I don’t think I’m going to do that.
because I want to visit other places So yeah
This is Kyoto so far Not that crowded surprisingly
but it’s all right okay let’s do this Fushimi Inari is stunning all
year round. Spring brings mild weather and cherry blossoms nearby.
Winter offers a quiet mystical white and autumn might just be the most beautiful
of all with vibrant red and orange leaves surrounding the trail. For the
best experience try to come at sunrise It’s peaceful cool and you have all
those iconic Torii gates almost all to yourself. Wear comfortable shoes
especially if you’re hiking to the summit of Mount Inari. Fushimi Inari is
open 24 hours. So yes you can actually hike it at night. It’s quiet, atmospheric
and definitely a unique experience. But be warned, it’s not for the faint of heart
Some visitors have reported eerie encounters whether from the spirit world
or the occasional wild boar. So if you do go after dark bring a flashlight, stay alert
and maybe don’t hike alone. And most importantly take your time and be
respectful. It’s an active place of worship Look at all these torii gates,
the shrines. Nice And we are done with all the torii gates yeah so it was nice.
like I said lovely weather chill and some good
lightings to take photos Not that crowded. You can
see the crowd now is worse So yeah we made it here at about.
let me see. about 9. It’s 11 now. So yeah come early Okay on our way to our
next stop in Kyoto After soaking in the spiritual
energy of Fushimi Inari Taisha we hop on the Keihan line from
Fushimi Inari Station to Kiyomizu-gojō. A quick and easy ride that brought us
closer to our next stop Kiyomizu-dera one of Kyoto’s most iconic
and historic temples. But before reaching the temple itself we made our way up
Matsubara-dori. A bustling shopping street lined with traditional Kyoto snacks
souvenir shops and quaint storefronts. full of local charm. It’s a sensory
journey. The smell of fresh mochi, the sound of Geta sandals and the sight of old
Kyoto architecture all around. At the top awaits Kiyomizu-dera, a UNESCO World Heritage
site that dates all the way back to 778 AD Known for its grand wooden stage
that overlooks the city and no nails used in its construction. And then we
move on to the sacred Otawa waterfall where visitors drink for blessings. The
waters are divided into three separate streams. Visitors can use the cups
provided at the base of the waterfall to drink from them. Each of the streams is
believed to have a different effect such as bringing success, love and longevity That’s where we’re heading
Kiyomizu-dera Temple It’s really crowded
here in this part It’s a lot of people
It’s very hard to walk you know And lots of shopping Just taking a break
It’s seems like uphill from here Quite tiring This is on a Tuesday So many people [Music] [Music] This is the ticket 500 yen per person to go up and also access to
the observation deck All right we’re going in now Let’s check out the view from here
I think it’s quite interesting because… I think it’ll be quite nice
because there’s a lot of people Let’s go and find a spot That incense is 10 yen per piece
per stick sorry We were up there earlier and
we’ve made our way down from that
side with a very steep downhill And we’ve made a loop
Now we are back here again Got to make our way down
and head to the next attraction in this part of Kyoto Okay now we are making our way to Kōdai-ji Temple which is not far from the earlier
place we were exploring [Music] [Music] I guess it’s still too cold for sakura Haven’t bloom yet Haven’t start here in Osaka but hopefully we’ll catch some in Tokyo more street food The fatty cats and we are out. I think now we’re
heading to a night market to grab more street food
Cannot wait I always love some local delicacies By the way if you’re wondering about the street food scene, don’t worry
Nishiki Market will be in a separate video. so stay tuned for that And that wraps up our journey through the iconic Torii Gates of Fushimi Inari
