Plaza Premium Group (PPG) has plans to expand its hospitality
services in Japan, and will be introducing the City Terminal by Plaza
Premium Lounge in Osaka’s Umeda City – one of the busiest travel hubs in
Japan.
This project is a joint venture between PPG and JWIDE, combining
PPG’s expertise in travel hospitality with JWIDE’s specialisation in the
Japanese inbound travel market, with the aim of co-creating unique
travel experiences.
As the first of its kind from PPG, the City Terminal will join other
brands including the Plaza Premium Lounge, Aerotel airport hotels,
airport dining brands, the ALLWAYS airport concierge services, and the
Smart Traveller global rewards programme.
The new opening also extends the Group’s presence in the Japanese
market, where the homegrown Hong Kong brand opened Plaza Premium Lounge
Nagoya in 2023 at Chubu Centrair International Airport. Chubu Centrair
is the air gateway to the central region of Japan.
At launch, the City Terminal will serve to be a one-stop-shop where
travellers can enjoy a lounge, baggage delivery and transportation,
travel concierge, foreign exchange – all services to make the travel
experience in Osaka better. The lounge is set to open in summer 2024.
“Japan is a key travel route to Hong Kong, where we are located, so
that means travellers often do short trips to Japan but as the flight
times and check-in times are often not perfectly in sync, there is a lot
of ‘wasted time’ in the process that can be better spent exploring the
culture and tasting Japan,” said Mei Mei Song, director of global brands
and product transformation.
“Our mission at Plaza Premium Group is to make travel better, and
this means literally putting ourselves in the shoes of travellers to
offer solutions that conquer pain points and that make the journey as
delightful as the destination.”
