The role played by Puglia in the
development of the autonomous access to space and the way in
which the pioneer startups of Italy, the United States and Japan
redefine the space sector were at the centre of the address
given by the president and director general of the Aerospace
Technology District (DTA), Giuseppe Acierno, during Expo 2025
Osaka.

It was also an occasion for international experts to discuss
experiences and models of development of spaceports in the world
and their role in the future space economy thanks to the work of
Aeroporti di Puglia and the project of the Grottaglie spaceport.

During the talk, successful models for the support of space
startups were compared and policies to speed up the progress of
emerging technologies were discussed, according to a statement.

“At the centre of the week on the mobility of the future being
celebrated at Osaka Expo, we were able to connect and promote
our activities and initiatives: the incubator of the European
Space Agency we manage, Grottaglie’s Test Bed and spaceport”,
said Acierno.

“We have placed such initiatives and activities at the centre of
a debate with institutions, businesses and Japanese and US
agencies.

“It was an occasion to reiterate the important and concrete sign
of the global and innovative inclination of the Aerospace
Technology District”, he concluded.
