Welcome onboard the outbound leg of All Nippon Airways B 777-381 JA754A from Tokyo (HND) to Naha (OKA) on Okinawa Island on a day’s return and a personal rendezvous with this airliner after nearly 24 years since my last flight on her on October 28, 2001 onboard flight NH 28 from Osaka (ITM) to Tokyo (HND), at times when filming was not allowed during take off and landing.

This time I was able to make up for it.

History of Boeing 777-381 JA754A

Serial Number 27939 / Line Number 172 was manufactured 1998, performed her first flight on October 12, the same year and was delivered a week later on October 20, 1998 to All Nippon Airways, registered JA754A.

JA754A is one of the oldest B 777-300 still flying in 2025 and the cabin interior resembles the classic ANA cabin design of the 90s and is configured in the original seating layout of C21Y493.

From July 18, 2011 until April 15, 2016 JA754A was painted in special “Pokémon” colors being branded the “Pokémon Peace Jet”.

Sharp dropping demand and the Corona Pandemic forced ANA to ground large capacity aircraft.

During the Corona Pandemic JA754A was stored from February, 2021 until September, 2022.

ANA reinstalled Boeing 777-300 operations in September, 2022 on domestic trunk routes mainly from Tokyo to Sapporo, Osaka, Fukuoka and Naha with a capacity of carrying more than 500 passengers.

The ageing fleet of ANA’s B 777s will be replaced gradually by the introduction of the newly acquired B 787-10s into the domestic network of ANA.
