The Hotel I am not exaggerating when I say I made a stop in Osaka for a night just to stay at Conrad Osaka. Set in Nakanoshima, Conrad Osaka occupies level 33 to 40 of the Nakanoshima Festival West Tower, characterised by its gorgeous and jaw-dropping lobby which feels like a “sky sanctuary” floating above the bustling city below.
The hotel’s location is slightly quieter than being right in Umeda or Namba, but still convenient—especially with direct access to subway lines. You are close to Osaka’s major sights, yet away from the hustle and bustle of the city which is quite nice if you are looking for a slower pace in a holiday like me.
Check-in is on level 40 and the process was smooth for me where the staff speaks good English. As a Hilton Diamond holder, I managed to get an early check-in by noon, though it also seems like it was not running on high occupancy when I checked in on a weekday.
First impression matters and the main draw for me is definitely the dramatic lobby, which is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows and offers immediate panoramic views of Osaka.
The Room There are 164 rooms and suites, and I checked into the Twin Premium View Room on level 37 which takes on a contemporary look. It sleeps up to 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child.
It is relatively spacious at 50 sq. m./538 sq. ft. where you get a powder room right beside the entrance, before you walk through a corridor to the main bedroom space.
One of the room’s highlights is the view – be it a city skyline or the Yodo River view.
The mattress is reasonably hard for my liking. Temperature control and lighting control of the room can be done via the touch screen panel beside the bed which is quite convenient.
If you need to catch up on work, the work desk is also big enough to place two laptops. I had a complimentary welcome sake as part of Hilton Diamond benefit.
The bathroom size is quite spacious which comes with double vanity sinks, a big oval bathtub and a standing shower zone.
Evening turndown service is also provided.
The Restaurants Conrad Osaka boasts several dining options – Atmos Dining offers a good breakfast buffet, featuring both Western and Japanese options. The restaurant is located on level 40, and it has high floor to ceiling windows with a gorgeous view of the city.
You get to choose from an ala carte menu in addition to the buffet spread, where you can order unlimited portions of dishes like Okonomiyaki Benedict.
The buffet spread for breakfast is quite extensive with notable highlights like their in-house smoked salmon, steak, an array of quality fresh fruits, Japanese onsen egg, barista coffee, and more.
Other dining concepts in the property include the likes of C:Grill and Kura which serve seafood and refined Japanese cuisine respectively. 40 Sky Bar & Lounge is a spot for cocktails and Afternoon Tea.
The Facilities You can’t say you have stayed at Conrad Osaka without visiting the amenities particularly the indoor pool.
The Indoor Pool feels luxurious, and I love the distinct lines of its floor to ceiling window which adds to the city vibes. The pool is also heated which is a plus especially during winter months.
For gym goers, the Gym is fully equipped with high-end machines and weights of various sizes.
The respective changing rooms also feature indoor sauna, cold plunge pool and warm jacuzzi to unwind.
The Conrad Spa offers a great range of treatments if you want to splurge on a treatment.
If you have Executive Lounge access, it is located on level 39 and accessible to Hilton Diamond holders too.
The space of the lounge is spacious where the best seats are undoubtedly the ones beside the window.
Afternoon Tea is served from 3pm to 5pm while evening Cocktail Hour is from 6pm to 8pm.
The Afternoon Tea features a small selection of pastries like scones and sandwiches, and you can help yourself to the TWG tea, beer, and fancy Dasai Sparkling Water.
The evening hour is a more elaborate spread of savoury food where you can expect the likes of salmon carpaccio, beef salad, salmon fillet, and more. Japanese sake is also served other than the usual spirits and wine selections.
Rants Service is generally good though I find it a tad rigid. For a luxury property, I expect a little more personalised service which I did not really experience during my stay.
Overall Experience Conrad Osaka is one of those city properties in Japan worth checking out at least once. It is great to exercise my Hilton Diamond benefits here as the complimentary breakfast and lounge access are worthwhile in my opinion. The facilities for fitness junkies are pretty good too, and while it is not located in a shopping district, the direct access to subway just beneath the hotel is great convenience.
