【大阪→福岡】豪華フェリーの格安個室に初めて乗船、12時間越えの船旅はさすがに…

Hey there, it’s Yuuka! Right now, I’m at Osaka Ferry Terminal Station. I’m about to head to Fukuoka from Osaka, and I’ll be taking the Meimon Taiyo Ferry to get there. I actually rode the Meimon Taiyo Ferry once before in the past. It was the first ferry I ever took in my life, believe it or not! So it’s been about half a year since I last rode it. I’m super excited to ride it again today! There it is—Meimon Taiyo Ferry! Yup, that’s the one. I actually just took that orange ferry recently. Like, really recently. So this’ll be my third time walking down this path. I’m starting to get used to it! This is my 7th time ever riding a ferry! Hoping this trip from Nanko doesn’t get too… rocky. Please… let it go smooth. I’m seriously praying over here. This walkway is sneakily long, by the way. I thought today would be warmer, but nope. It’s still chilly—I’m not letting go of my jacket just yet. When I first rode the Meimon Taiyo Ferry, I was like, “This is SO fun!” It honestly blew my mind. I didn’t even get seasick or anything. The ship was super fancy and just a blast overall. That’s when I totally got hooked on ferries. So yeah, Meimon Taiyo Ferry started it all for me. *Yep, I fell right into the ferry obsession trap.* There it is—Osaka Nanko Ferry Terminal! Heading straight over there now. Today’s departure schedule! The Meimon Taiyo Ferry to Shinmoji Port— the first one leaves at 5 PM, and the one I’m taking leaves at 7:50 PM. Here’s what the waiting area looks like. Looks pretty packed today—probably ’cause it’s Friday. *Not a great day for socially awkward folks like me.* *Just scan the QR code from the email and you’re good to go!* Today’s boarding gate is number 4. Looks like it’s different from the one I used last time. The boarding bridge has a bit of an uphill slope… Let’s just say it’s to earn my dinner later. Power-walking my way through it! Meimon Taiyo Ferry, right in front of me. And there’s the Orange Osaka chillin’ next to it. On the Meimon Taiyo Ferry, you’ll see this M and T logo, which apparently stands for Meimon Taiyo! Welcome to FERRY FUKUOKA! Last time I rode the Ferry Osaka, though. Alright, let’s head in! The interior looks pretty different from last time. But it still feels kind of nostalgic. First things first—gonna drop my stuff off in the room. This time, I’m staying in room 205 on the 7th floor. Superior class! Apparently it’s up these stairs and then to the right. Hello there! Uh—h-hi! There are a bunch of school trip kids and now I feel super awkward… *If someone talks to me, my brain just short-circuits like (;°-°;)* All my ferry trips up till now have mostly been pretty empty. But today, it’s totally packed! Me, a socially awkward mess, is heading to Shinmoji all shy and fidgety… Ooh, just spotted room 205! Let’s go in and check it out! It’s spacious and super clean! Okay, I really need to put my bag down for a sec. Looks like this trip is gonna be 12 and a half hours. Tomorrow morning at 8:30, we’ll arrive at Shinmoji Port in Fukuoka! Alrighty, let’s do a quick room tour! We’ve got one, two beds… And this one’s a bed too, so that makes three! There’s a TV over here as well. On the bed, there’s a set of pajamas, and a Meimon Taiyo Ferry towel you can take home! The bed is super fluffy—total luxury. *Last time I just had a futon, so this feels fancy!* Oh—what’s this thing? There’s a mesh rack for your luggage! Never seen that before. Here’s a light switch right by the bed. And over here, we’ve got a curtain. You’re probably not supposed to open it while we’re sailing at night, but we haven’t left yet, so… Look, you can see the sea! You just *know* this view is gonna be amazing. I think I’ll leave the curtain open a bit—it’s too pretty to close. And right under the curtain, there’s a desk and a trash bin. The room has air conditioning too! Moving over this way… There’s a big mirror here. Plus a desk and a chair. This room is non-smoking. Bringing or using cooking appliances is not allowed. Who’s bringing cooking gear onto a ferry though? There’s also tissues and some information sheets. It’s stuff like opening hours and onboard etiquette—things like that. Having Wi-Fi is such a lifesaver! Most ferries don’t even have it, so I’m thrilled. Ooh, the “Three Great Scenic Bridges!” I think I saw the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge last time, but I missed the Seto Ohashi one, maybe? I really want to catch it today. Gonna try my best not to fall asleep! Under the desk, there’s a kettle and some tea. It’s deep-steamed tea from… Kiwami? And there’s a hair dryer too! It’s pretty big—looks like it’s got some serious power. Over by the door, they’ve got a whole 7 hangers ready for you! And they’ve even provided slippers! Love that. I’ll try them on later. There’s even a toilet and shower in here! Wow, this is VIP-level. Let’s check out the amenities too. Two toothbrushes and two cups—nice! And there’s even a power outlet here. And yes—they’ve got a bidet toilet seat too. The shower room isn’t super big, but it comes with body soap, shampoo, and conditioner— literally everything you need! You won’t have to worry about a thing. After a quick break, I think I’ll head back out to watch us set sail! It’s exactly 7:50 PM. The ferry has officially set sail! Bye-bye, Osaka! I’ll be back before you know it. It’s about 12 hours and 40 minutes to Shinmoji Port. I’m super excited to see what kind of adventure this trip brings! Now that I’ve watched us leave port safely, I’m gonna head out and start exploring the ship! Once you pass through the boarding area on the 6th floor, you arrive at this super spacious entrance hall. Here’s what the ship map looks like. There are 148 guest rooms in total, and it’s a big ferry that can carry up to 675 passengers! Right next to the entrance hall, there’s an information desk and a kids’ playroom. If I ever turn into a kid again, I’m totally playing there. And get this—there’s free Wi-Fi in the public areas onboard! Love that for us. The seats near the windows have better signal, so they’re the sweet spot. And here we’ve got the vending machine corner on the 6th floor. They’ve got cup noodles and ice cream too… But I’m gonna resist the temptation—for now. Here’s a little photo spot! Kinda embarrassing though… especially with how crowded it is today. Yeah, I’ll pass. Alright, now I’m gonna head up to the 7th floor. Up here on the 7th floor, there’s a women’s bath and a men’s bath. They’re open until midnight today, and from 6 AM tomorrow morning, so you can pretty much go whenever. The morning view’s probably gorgeous, so that might be the move. Can’t wait! Just past the bath area, there’s an observation deck. Here’s what the view looks like from the observation deck. It’s been 30 minutes since we set sail, and Osaka is slowly fading into the distance. If you go this way, you’ll find the observation lounge. You can enjoy the view from here too, so I’ll probably be stopping by often. It looks like this—super open and spacious. And over here, there’s a TV lounge. There’s actually a ton of free space on this ship! And that’s a full lap around the ship! Here’s my room again. I thought this the first time I rode too, but this hallway is seriously long. I kinda wanna race down it on a bike! To wrap things up, let’s head up to the 8th floor. The 8th floor has the Suite and Deluxe rooms. As expected, the decor for the suites and deluxes is really fancy. Beyond here is for Suite and Deluxe guests only, so I can’t go in… But I’d love to stay there someday! Time for the dinner buffet! Dinner is $13 for adults, and breakfast is around $5. But if you buy both as a set, you save about $1.50— $17 total for both meals! I think I’ll go with that. Alright, time to grab dinner for tonight! Goal: try *everything* on the menu. I’m on a mission to get my money’s worth. There are tons of food options, from Western and Japanese to Chinese dishes—super diverse! They’ve even got soup rice, curry, miso soup, udon, and desserts like candied sweet potatoes and warabi mochi! Honestly, I really wanted a beer, but I’ll be good today and just go with coffee… Oops… I may have taken too much. But it all looks so good—let’s dig in! Wait… okay, hear me out… If you rearrange the letters in “Meimon Taiyo”… you kinda get “Umai Yo Yoitai Mon” (I wanna get tipsy ’cause it’s tasty), so… yeah, I *had* to have a drink. Chased it quickly with some seared bonito—bam! Nothing beats sashimi when you’re traveling by sea. Meimon Taiyo Ferry’s food is just too good… I feel like I could keep eating till morning. Last time I rode Meimon Taiyo Ferry, I barely felt any rocking. No seasickness at all. But this time it’s rocking a little more than usual. Maybe it’s the weather? But I believe in the Seto Inland Sea, so this time, I didn’t take any motion sickness meds. I have faith. It’s gonna be fine… The Seto Inland Sea’s never betrayed me. So I’m hoping for another smooth and comfy trip today too. Though honestly, it’s already super comfy. I’m having a great time! The buffet this time has a lot of different options compared to before, and compared to other ferries, there’s a lot more fried stuff and meat dishes. But I love food that kids would go crazy for, so… This kind of meal is totally my jam—super tasty and fun! By the way, about the room price— This time I booked a Superior room from Osaka to Fukuoka, and it cost me ¥18,920, so about $123. Last time I stayed in a “First J” room, and that one was ¥16,720, around $109. So this time was about $14 more expensive. The last room didn’t have a shower or toilet, so having those this time makes a big difference! For reference, the Suite room is ¥25,630—around $167, and the cheapest “Tourist” class is ¥10,120, or about $66. So yeah, there’s a pretty big range. The room I chose today is actually the third-highest class on the ship. It’s a pretty nice one, honestly! *Someday I wanna do a round-trip in both the cheapest and priciest rooms!* That was amazing—thank you for the meal! I’m totally stuffed. There’s a breakfast buffet tomorrow too, and I’m sooo excited for it! I’ll do my best to wake up early so I can eat a ton tomorrow too! Alright, time to head back to my room. It’s 9:05 PM and I can see the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge from the observation deck. It’s all lit up and seriously beautiful. *Waiting for someone to comment “Yuka, you’re beautiful too!”* Found the game corner! They’ve got a ton of UFO catchers here. That Boo plush is calling my name. But the big ones are usually impossible to win. Then again… I feel like I’ve got a shot! The ones that cost 200 yen per play usually have stronger claws, don’t they? So I should totally be able to win this. Here goes nothing! *On second thought… there was no way I could grab Boo.* But I’ve already spent too much money today, so I’m calling it quits… Came over to the gift shop! They sell all kinds of snacks from Kyushu here. It’s a perfect setup for a nightcap, but… I’m gonna skip drinks for tonight. Oh, they’ve got “Gekkakeisho”—I bought this last time! It was seriously delicious. They also sell daily necessities and stuff like that. Look! A limited-edition paper-cut style ship stamp for Ferry Fukuoka! Since I’m here, I got one as a souvenir from the trip. The traditional Japanese design is so cool— I mean, I got seriously hyped. Alright, I’m off to the observation bath! Bye-bye! *Just got out of the bath and came up to the observation deck.* The stars are insanely beautiful tonight. I wonder if the camera can capture it… Alright, I’m back from the bath! Do you think this pajama looks good on me…? Hmm… I don’t know… I feel like… It doesn’t suit me and it’s kinda embarrassing, so… Time for a quick transformation. I switched into my own homemade “Goron Pajamas.” This feels way more like me. Okay, now that I’m all fresh from the bath… Let’s toast with a Coke tonight! Wait, I thought this was Coke… But it was actually alcohol… Oh right—so earlier today I went to Expo 2025 in Osaka! Myakumyaku! I picked up some chocolate sandwich cookies from the Expo, and they come with a little shape-cutting challenge. I really wanted to try this! You know Myakumyaku, right? They’re my partner in crime. I mean, how could you even mess this up doing it like this? Uh-oh… I messed up. I accidentally bit off the head… Total fail. Right now we’re cruising just under Shodoshima Island. That’s around the northern part of Kagawa Prefecture. Looking at the map, we’ve come pretty far already! We left Osaka, and we’re already near Kagawa. That’s fast—this ship’s really hustling! I wonder if I can watch TV? Wow, classic Seto Inland Sea—great signal! Wait, it was a Meimon Taiyo Ferry commercial… Terrestrial TV’s a little fuzzy though. But honestly, just having TV work out here is impressive. It’s usually super laggy and barely moves when I try watching it. This is top-tier stuff. So yeah, it’s currently 10:40 PM, and I’d actually love to hit the big bath again tomorrow morning. I’m aiming to wake up at 6 AM, so I think it’s time to call it a night. Goodnight, everyone. It’s currently 5:59 AM. We’re sailing off the coast of Kunisaki City in Oita Prefecture right now. Here’s the view from the observation deck. The sunrise is absolutely gorgeous. The blue sky and sea stretch endlessly. Moments like this are why I just can’t quit ferry travel. We are scheduled to arrive on time at Shinmoji Port in Kitakyushu at 8:30 AM. Please enjoy the rest of your time onboard. Good morning! It’s officially morning now. I actually went to the big bath again this morning, and the view was amazing—it was so much fun. But the air on the ship is definitely dry… So I’m gonna put on some body cream, get dressed, and head out for breakfast! Apparently the first ferry doesn’t offer a buffet. This is the second ferry, and this one does have a buffet! I think I had the buffet last time too… *Brain still half asleep.* Alright, I’m dressed—let’s go eat breakfast! Here’s a look at the breakfast buffet. The food lineup is totally different from what they had on the first ferry I rode before. Just grabbed my breakfast! It all looks super tasty. Alright then—let’s eat! I’m still totally in my growth phase, so I absolutely need milk with breakfast! By the way, the breakfast buffet is $5 per adult, and it’s available from 6:40 AM until 20 minutes before arrival. With all these menu options for just five bucks, I could honestly eat this every day! I was worried about the rocking of the ship, but I didn’t notice it at all while I was sleeping. The bed was also super comfy and cozy. Having breakfast while watching the ocean… it’s just unbeatable. Last time I was on the first ferry, it was still dark outside, so the whole vibe is totally different and refreshing. All done—thanks for the meal! Now that I’m super full, I think I’ll head back to the room and chill for a bit. Time to start tidying up the room a bit and get ready to disembark. Honestly, 12 hours didn’t feel like enough at all— I seriously wanted to stay for another 12 days. It’s exactly 8:00 AM right now, and we’re around here on the map. We’re about to arrive at the port. I’ll be disembarking in about 30 minutes, so I’ll do some prep and relax a bit, then head outside again. Thank you so much! *Meimon Taiyo Ferry actually put up my autograph!* It’s displayed right here at the shop/info desk, so please come check it out, everyone! *Last thing—gonna grab my boarding stamp before heading out!* Got it! My ferry boarding stamp! Yay! Thank you very much for riding with CITY LINE Meimon Taiyo Ferry. We truly appreciate your patronage. Time to start tidying up the room a bit and get ready to disembark. We arrived at Shinmoji Port and took the free shuttle bus to Kokura Station. As expected, the Seto Inland Sea was super calm— smooth sailing the whole way! This was my second time riding Meimon Taiyo Ferry, and it was honestly a blast! I got to enjoy the big bath and the buffet, and I’m totally satisfied. But since it was a Friday this time, there were a lot more people onboard. There were also tour groups, so it felt pretty crowded. It was kinda hard to get into the restaurant or the bath without waiting. So I really recommend going when it’s less crowded! Last time I rode the Ferry Osaka, and this time it was the Ferry Fukuoka. There’s also Ferry Kyoto and Ferry Kitakyushu, so I kinda wanna ride all of the Meimon Taiyo Ferries someday! Thanks so much for watching all the way to the end today! Don’t forget to subscribe, leave a comment, and give it a thumbs up! Alrighty, bye-bye!
