Quiet temple on the hills of Kyoto

Take a deep breath. And relax.

This is Chion-in, a large Buddhist temple in Kyoto where you can unwind and enjoy nature.

The temple grounds are extensive and you have space to move around the trees and impressive buildings. The imposing Sanmon gate is the largest wooden structure of its kind in Japan.
Just around the corner from Gion, this temple is worth the time if you want to enjoy a quieter side of Kyoto.
