⁴ᴷ Niigata: Naoetsu Station (新潟県: 直江津駅) – Japan Walking Tour (May, 2025)
Last month, I took a break from long-distance travel, but with the weather warming up, I decided to head toward the Noto Peninsula on the Sea of Japan side this month.
My route takes me from Nagano Prefecture, through Niigata, and on to Noto. As I approached the Myoko Highlands, the air turned chilly, and I noticed patches of snow still clinging to the mountains — hard to believe it’s already mid-May.
The area around Naoetsu Station was quiet and still, likely due to the late hour. As I walked through the town, I heard the sound of heavy breathing and rhythmic thuds in the distance. Curious, I followed the noise and discovered a boxing gym, where a few young people were fully immersed in their training.
