Nissan has unveiled a special livery ahead of this weekend’s Formula E Tokyo E-Prix double-header – its home race on the calendar.

The Japanese manufacturer has redesigned its Sakura-themed livery, with a new and brighter pink look. Nissan also launched its first-ever video game – ‘NISMO Electric Racer Tokyo’.

Nissan’s inspiration for its Tokyo livery is its video game, with the design being based on 90s arcade nostalgia.

As part of its special design for Tokyo, Nissan has also made the red on its livery more aggressive, making the one-off livery stand out. For the Paris-based outfit, it is a very significant weekend.

Nissan enters the event leading the drivers’ and manufacturers’ championships, with a serious chance at increasing its advantage.

Oliver Rowland boasts a 48-point lead in the drivers’ title and has the chance to put some real distance between himself and his rivals in Tokyo.

As for the manufacturer, it has a 29-point lead over Porsche. The team has some minor ground to make up in the teams’ championship, where it finds itself seven points behind the factory Porsche team.

Whilst it is a big weekend for Rowland, it is an even bigger one for team-mate Norman Nato, who has scored just 11 points in the opening seven rounds.

Despite having run a special livery in Tokyo last season, Porsche is not running one this weekend, nor is Lola Yamaha ABT.
