On the 13th, the ‘2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo’ site, located in Yumeishima, Osaka, Japan, was exceptionally hot, centered on the Korean Pavilion. On this day, the “Korea Day” event, which combines Korean tradition, high-tech, culture and industry, drew attention from visitors from all over the world.
The highlight of the event was Samsung Electronics’ “Project Infinite” demonstration held at the site of the Korea Excellent Product Exhibition. The demonstration, which was conducted by Samsung officials wearing headsets and mirroring the screen in front of them in real time with large TVs, showed visitors next-generation XR (Expanded Reality) technologies such as immersive 3D maps and hand gesture-based interfaces.
When the demonstrator ordered “tell me where this scene is” while looking at the picture of Seokchon Lake in Seoul, the Gemini in the headset displayed a large Internet browser containing related search results in front of his eyes. The demonstrator opened a YouTube search box with a voice command and watched a 360-degree Taekwondo video at Gyeongbokgung Palace. Major Korean and Japanese business leaders who attended the event, including Trade, Industry and Energy Minister Ahn Deok-geun, showed keen interest in Samsung’s XR-related technology.
“The 3D map optimized for XR allows you to have an immersive experience as if you are actually going,” said Kim Seung-yeon, managing director of MX’s business division. “You can feel the feeling of traveling anywhere in the world.”
The demonstration will also be available to general visitors at the Samsung Electronics booth at the “Korea Excellent Product Exhibition” held from the 14th to the 16th of this month. Although it is impossible for visitors to wear and experience it directly, Samsung Electronics employees will talk with artificial intelligence (AI) by voice, plan their trip to Korea, and experience Gyeongbokgung Palace, a travel course, with XR. Earlier this year, the XR device itself was unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event, but this is the first public demonstration for an unspecified number of visitors.
Project Infinite is an XR device jointly developed by Samsung Electronics, Google, and Qualcomm and will be released later this year. It is an XR device released by the Android camp against the “Vision Pro” released by Apple last year, and its weapons are lighter weight and wider program expandability than the Vision Pro.
“Samsung’s XR demonstration seemed to open the door to the future,” a Japanese official who watched the event said. “We experienced Korea’s advanced digital technology in front of our eyes.”

The “Korea Excellent Product Exhibition” will be held at Wase (Exhibition Hall) in the Korean Pavilion as a large-scale B2B and B2C exhibition involving 93 domestic representative companies and 160 buyers. Korean conglomerates such as Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor, LG, and SK will introduce high-tech and innovative products that will lead future industries such as artificial intelligence (AI), eco-friendly energy, smart mobility, and bio. Participating companies will provide a venue for industrial exchange and cooperation between Korea and Japan through various programs such as local consulting, marketing, and networking.
Meanwhile, the Osaka Expo Korea Hall, organized by the Ministry of Industry and KOTRA, was decorated as an experiential space that combines tradition, high-tech, culture and technology, surpassing 350,000 cumulative visitors as of May 13, and was selected as the best institution for the expo along with the US Pavilion and the Italian Pavilion. Media art using AI technology, eco-friendly exhibitions based on hydrogen fuel cells, and experience contents that combine music and video are receiving great response from visitors.
