Mt. Fuji from Satta Pass – Sakura, Sea, and Hiroshige’s Legacy

Sata Pass and Shizuoka where Mount Fuji, cherry blossoms, and Hido era art meet along the old Tokaido road. This trail once challenged travelers with steep cliffs. The view here was captured by Ukio Master Hiroshi nearly 200 years ago. Mount Fuji rising over the sea. In late January, Kanhi Sakura begin to bloom. Their pink petals soften the winter air. From this ridge, you can see Suruga Bay, the Izu Peninsula, and Japan’s major transport lines together in one view. At the lookout, Mount Fuji appears through drifting clouds, just like in Hiroshi’s timeless print. We descend toward Yui Station, walking a path where history and nature quietly meet. This is Sat Pass. Watch the full journey linked below.

One trail. Three icons of Japan.

Mt. Fuji. Early spring sakura. And a legendary view painted by Hiroshige.

Welcome to Satta Pass in Shizuoka—a once-perilous section of the old Tokaido Road, now a scenic coastal walk with sweeping views of Fuji and Suruga Bay.

In late January, cold-weather cherry blossoms (kanhizakura) begin to bloom, painting the trail pink against the blue of the Pacific.

And if you love trains and roads, there’s more—Tokaido Shinkansen, Route 1, and the Tomei Expressway all run side by side below this viewpoint.
