Tokashiki, Okinawa – Japan’s Hidden Paradise Just 1 hour from Naha 【Trip to Okinawa 2/3】
[Music] Okay, now let’s head to the port. I arrive at the Freddy Tanya Tomari. Tomari port. The nickname is Tomari. So, let’s exchange the ticket to the actual ticket. So long line is name kind I think American person. Good. Give it to me so I can figure it out. From Tomi port which is within walking distance from the center of Naha city. There are two routes to Tokashki Islands and Zamami Islands via Aaka Islands. There are fies and high-speed boats for each route and the prices are different. In case you like to do the island hopping of Kama Ferry Mitsima connects a Tokashi Islands with Aka Island and Jamami Island. So nice. It’s getting close. So you have to even you have a reservation. You have to fill out this paper here. Oh, I see the ferry right in front of the port. I just got a ticket. There’s a long line, but uh it moves quickly, so it won’t be a big problem. But it’s better to come at least like 40 minutes before the time. This is the ferry to Tokaski Island. Ferry Tokaski. Now we are boarding. I I thought I vending machines and restroom. Oh, it’s bigger than I thought. You can take any seat but all the window seat was taken already. So there are some outside seat behind there. But maybe I’m feeling better. Let’s see. So this is kind of outside the area. [Music] As it was a little too sunny on the rooftop, I decided to take this outside seat behind the second floor. 20 minutes before the departure, the seats were already full. So it’s almost 10 minutes before, but still lots of people are getting on. They really have to get the baby. Hope they can make it. Now it’s time to [Music] move. Now we are leaving Naha. So in case you take the first one, it leaves from here. Like I came here a few days ago. So tomorrow morning I’m coming coming back here. Uh it’s my first time to take fail from Naha. [Music] [Music] The blood was already [Music] [Music] [Music] So this is my swimmer island. So island is actually the one behind We are coming north to car island. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] If you go to Tokashki Island, there’s nothing around the port. When you arrive, you need to go to Aaran Beach on the other side of the island. If you are staying at any hotel or accommodation in the Tokashiki Island, you can get there by hotel transfer or if not, you can use the island local bus. So look like say that the people coming to pick you up and the little rest house and from here there’s a bus to a beach. I wonder where’s my I wonder where’s my handch [Music] That’s me. [Music] I was talking to someone on the island and they said that in the past Kama was known for the backpackers who stayed there for long periods but recently it seems that there are lots of people visiting for a day trip. There aren’t many well equipped hotels in Kama. So many people stay at the hotel in Naha and go to the beach for a day trip. The problem is that rapid increase in the garbage. There are no facilities on the island to dispose of garbage. So Tokashki village pays Naha city to dispose of it. However, many people bring hood from Naha and not many people spend money on the island. If the problem becomes serious, they are considering imposing a entrance tax like Mount Fuji. I don’t think any would refuse if your environment could be improved, especially when you see this beautiful island and an incredible color of the ocean. In case you like to visit the other islands of Kama Islands, you can make a reservation of the boat Mitsima. A lot of English signs. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Yeah. Let’s see. Wow. Wow. Wow. I’m so glad I came. So, there are three beds in this room and I booked with one person. So, one bed is set up. I got a t for 500 is 5 just extremely nice here and beach and those are kind of rental counter for visitors too. Maybe I can put here. It’s a little shade. Oh, the water is cold actually. So, let’s start snoring. [Music] Come on. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] And I saw two sea turtles and some fish. It’s middle of the kind of beach. So if you go towards the edge of the beach must be more beautiful fishes maybe find. Wow. So beautiful. I love it. Well, this shoes at the M Cape Maida the lady said the the sandal is floating and not going better to get this and I that are so good decision. It’s very convenient. It’s the bottom part is thin but uh we can walk like this. So by the beaches I lot can color coral leaves and locks but above here is pure powdery white sand. So it’s a lunch time and there’s a restaurant here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. As I approached to the restaurant, a friendly restaurant staff came out and guided me to order inside and and take a seat at wherever I like. I ordered their special Okinawan soba with tuna, but they also have regular menu like kat curry. Ah just this simple situation eating outside in early April I can wear shorts hearing the sound of a wave in the bars and great food. It was a small happy moment. Mom just hold this she just put it into the table. Yeah. Really? Yeah. Okay. Thank you. There’s a shadow bus going to Aalen beach but it seems I cannot make it. So I said to stay on this Tokashiku beach. Now let’s go into water again. [Music] So this beach is facing the west side. So in the morning it looks better because sun’s coming from behind you. In the afternoon it looks a little kind of the sun reflect and can’t see the blue. But if you go to the edge of the beach you can see the blue kamu. So if you see from this side the signs behind me. So it looks very beautiful. It’s more powdery white time on here. about 1 hour until sunset time. So, I like to eat dinner fast. For all hotel plans, dinner and breakfast is included in this hotel. So only thing you have to order is a alcohol drink. So maybe there has to be a tokashu marine bridge parlor since 1982. Maybe there was a little kind of food stand here before. So, let’s get drink. Beautiful. Wow. Let’s sit here. [Music] And I got a beer. I got Okina’s beer. Orion beer. So beautiful. So this is Okina’s local beer. Onion beer. Not onion. Orion beer. the color right. I realized I have only this cup actually [Music] Looks like today is not the good weather. Today I’m taking Marine Liner Tokashki at 10:00 and going back to Naha. This year next year I’d like to come back to Tokashki and probably explore Aaran Beach and other islands like Zami and Aka Island. There are so many places in Japan that I haven’t been. So, I need to explore different parts. But hopefully, I can come back to Okinawa soon. It’s time for breakfast. So, it’s the third meal at this restaurant. Miso soup, mo tofu, and some Japanese dishes. So somewhere on here the east side sea turtle. This area is called Tokashiku of the Tokashiki Island. I had some time there’s a shuttle bus time to the port. So let’s explore the neighborhood. There’s a little park here. So this area doesn’t really have a houses and everything is in either Tokashki the where near the port is and Aarin another big beach. If you visit here you can park here and has access to the beach over there. So we came from the main island. We passed by this Mayima my island it says and I came to this Tokashiku island and came to the other side by bus a little observatory. Let’s go up here. Must have been very beautiful yesterday. It’s midappril to November 30. It’s in English October 30, but in Japanese change to November 30. There will be a person monitoring the beach in this main area of they’re making the little this kind of spot for the lifeguard. I said midappril and today is April 12th. So like in a few days maybe they start lifeguard here in this channel. I’m making a travel videos across Japan like travel tips for Japan trip and also travel vlogs from across Japan like this Okinawa and to Hokkaido. So if you are interested in Japan travel content, please hit the like button and subscribe. Now let’s go back to the hotel and leave. It’s kind of sad to leave. I hope I can come back to Kama. [Music] [Music] So now the ferry from Naha arrived and we are getting on board to the ferry now. So the marine liner from Naha just arrived and everyone getting off and looking for a bus. The regular bus to Aaran Beach is here and many other service for the hotels and I’m waiting to be on this marina line now. Bye-bye to island. So this marine liner I thought I have to get a seat belt but it’s not a jet foil so you don’t have to and you can actually stay outside. So I said to choose this outside seat as I might get sick if it’s inside. So there was a seat but actually I was standing for the whole ride. [Music] The ship may shake down. If the ship can search you, we recommend the center of the rear seat. [Music] Bye-bye. [Music] How are you? [Music] [Music] Thanks. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, [Music] [Music] hey. I got this to back of Tokaski Beach. Every time I travel, I’m buying new. In the next video, I’d like to explore Na City. Thank you for watching. Have a great trip to Japan. Have a great week. Until the next video.

The turtle I saw is most likely a green sea turtle (known as honu in Hawaiian). Two types live in this area: the green sea turtle (ao-umigame) and the loggerhead (aka-umigame).The loggerhead nests only on Japanese shores, then travels all the way across the Pacific to California, passing Hawaii before returning to Japan—a mysterious migratory pattern found nowhere else in the North Pacific.
This green turtle, though, lives its quiet life here. They both live about 80 years—some even reach 100.
