2 Day Scenic Mount Fuji Train Trip | Tokyo to Mount Fuji šÆšµ
Today, we travel through Japanās mountains toĀ experience spring at its most iconic site, MountĀ Fuji and its stunning surroundings! From local food to scenic viewsāall in a 2-day journey. Please enjoy the trip! Good morning. Itās a chilly morning in Tokyo. Today we ride on the Fuji Excursion andĀ
the Fuji View Express to visit Mount Fuji! This is the route for the day: We start our journey from Tokyo Station. Thereās a direct train from Shinjuku StationĀ
to Kawaguchiko Station, so weāll head there. Itās about a 2-hour rideĀ
from Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko. One-way ticket: around Ā„4,130. Letās begin our journey. The journey starts off at the bento store. I donāt know if thereās any good bentoĀ
store in Shinjuku, so Iāll buy some here. There are many, many, many, manyĀ
types of bentos from all over Japan. From famous self-heating bentos to regionalĀ
specialtiesāitās something you canāt miss out on. I feel hungry, so Iām going to buy two bentos. Alright, we need to go now. Heading to Platform 2. There is now an ordinary commuterĀ
train with first-class seats. Iāll use it today. Wowāvery comfortable. With tables and power outlets. WIFI as well. Iāve made it to Shinjuku. Platform 9. This is the train weāre boarding today. The Kaiji Express is attached toĀ the E353 Fuji Excursion Express. This PS5-looking train would take you all the way to Kawaguchiko Station without any transfers, but on a beautiful clear day like this, getting a seat all the way through is almost impossible. So instead, Iāll ride this train to Åtsuki, then transfer to another train there. The train will split at Åtsuki, with each section heading to a different destination. The trainās departing soon, so Iāll board. Let’s go. Hereās my seat. Iāve booked Seat D. The train has departed. Letās go. On a nice day, you get Mount Fuji in the distance. Hereās my first meal: theĀ
ć«ć¤ć漬ćå¼å½ (Ruibe-zuke Bento) The Ruibe-zuke Bento is fromĀ
the northern island of Hokkaido. Waitālook at that! Itās Mount Fuji! Weāre going to head there today. Itās quite popular, I think. It has roots in the aboriginalĀ
community of Hokkaidoāthe Ainu. Ruibe: A traditional Hokkaido dishĀ
where fishāusually salmonāis frozen,Ā Ā then sliced thin and eaten while still partly frozen, similar to sashimi. Itās marinated with a soy-based sauce. Ruibe means āa thing that melts,ā referring to howĀ Ā the frozen fish gently meltsĀ
in your mouth as you eat itāĀ especially when sliced thinlyĀ
and served partially thawed. Comes with salmon and salmon roe. And edible fake leaves. I think itās kelp. Thanks for the food. canned corn soup. Itās time to open my second bento. Wow, Iām not full. This is the oyster bento. Look here. Thereās a pull-string labeled. You tug itāand within seconds, steamĀ
starts rising from the bottom of the bento. Three… two… one… It makes a faint sound. You wait about 5ā7 minutes, and theĀ
whole bento box starts to warm up. Letās wait. Itās surprisingly exciting. A mini ritual. Open. A rich, savory oyster aroma hits you. The oysters are plump, juicy, and simmeredĀ
in a sweet-savory soy-based sauce. They soak into the rice. The rice is infused with oyster juicesĀ
and dashiāitās flavorful and moist,Ā Ā not just a plain base. There are mushrooms, a slice of carrot shaped likeĀ
a flower, and a bit of pickled veggie on the side. Thanks for the food. Weāre arriving soon at our station. We made it to Otsuki Station. This is where the train toĀ
Kawaguchiko and Kofu uncouples. The train to Kofu departs first. Okay, now I head to another train companyāitāsĀ
just beside the station weāre currently in: The Fujikyu Railway. Iāll ride this one. Wait, guys… I lost something. I might have left something on the train seat. Wait a second… Oh my goodness me. Trip delayedāgoing to KofuĀ
to see if I can get it back. Not found. Iām going to cry. Iām back on a different day. Continuing my delayed trip. Otsuki Station. My train from Otsuki to KawaguchikoĀ
will be on the Fuji View Express. Close to the station, there was a famousĀ
confectionary shopāso I made a visit. The train is here. This is the Fuji View Express. Wowāthe red really stands out. Unlike the bold red color of the exterior,Ā
the interior features a strong contrast. Itās like if every colorful bugĀ
were splattered onto the seat. Itās quite a unique traināwithĀ
colorful seats and warm wood accents. Itās colorful. Iām at the washroom right nowĀ
and… well, lots of goods. Wowāart. Not gonna lie, thatās art. And itās even labeled art. The train departs. Oh, look! Thereās even aĀ
cute-looking Mount Fuji train. Remember to book your ticket whenĀ
you know itās a nice day like today. There are a billion foreigners whoĀ
did not buy reservation tickets. Make sure you donāt make that mistake. Oh! Look! Itās Mount Fuji! Letās go! Itās very floral in this season. Nice. Letās head to a seat tour. Looks like thereās a table… Cup holder… And a side table. This big frame thingāI think itās toĀ
make the scenery look like a painting,Ā Ā if that wasnāt obvious. There is no power outlet,Ā
which is important to know. There isnāt one, right? Right. Sad. Well, thereās this thing I bought at the station. Observe. This. And this. Wowza. What could be inside? WaitāI donāt remember buying this. Peach mochi thing. And, wellāitās the season, so: Sakura mochi. Thereās even a sakura blossom in there. I didnāt know they were edible. It looks like there are purchasable food and beverages. and even souvenirs. The peach mochi tastes slightly like peach. My first time eating cherry blossom. Cherry blossom mochi is… Itās pretty tasty. This leaf tastes good! I donāt know if itās because thisĀ
is a special express train, but… The train makes a stop at a nice viewing point. The train slows down…Ā
like, really slows down. Wowālook at that view of Mount Fuji. Beautiful. Beautiful. Thereās even people wearingĀ
their backpacks already. A nice gesture from the train crew. Weāre arriving at the Chureito Pagoda Station. This is the place known forĀ
the pagoda and Mount Fuji. Itās featured in every āTravel Japanā thing ever. You can kinda see the pagoda. BTWāIāll be visiting this place tomorrow. And this is the most famous mochi in this area: Shingen mochi. Made it to Mount Fuji Station. One stop away from the end. I still had this little snack left. it’s mochi with black sugar syrup and soybean flour There’s mochi inside. One stop away from the end. Sorryāthere was one more stop in between: Fuji-Q Highland Station. We made it! Kawaguchiko Station. Dangāthis station canāt handleĀ
the number of people coming here. This might be worse than Kyoto. Now Iād like to visit thatĀ
Lawsonāsee how that wall is doing. Thereās a 7/11 here! I did not know that. Thereās even a police stationĀ
just beside the conbini.Ā Guysāthereās so many people that theĀ
line extended to the fridge area. And it smelled like no Lawson Iāve ever visited. It smelled like… Like a foreign country lol. Looks like the fence was removed. Tourist attraction, lol. Please give it a visit to experience. Itās already past 3, so Iām going to eat lunch. This is HÅtÅ. A local specialtyāfeaturing heartyĀ
vegetable soup with flat noodles. GuysāIām only halfway done and Iām almost full. All this for Ā„1,320. This is good value right here. Good stuff. Thanks for the food. Now heading to… Whatās it called? The Mount Fuji Panorama Ropeway. What the heck are these prices… I was recommended to visitĀ
this place on a sunny day. Cool beans. My ears are crackling. Wowza, this view. Climbed a trail. I found a small shrine. Itās a miracle to see Mount Fuji this clearly. Iām going to shut up now. Please enjoy the view. You can see Lake Kawaguchi from here! Now itās 6 p.m.āIām going to the famousĀ
garden where you can see Mount Fuji. All these foreign touristsĀ
seem happy to see Mount Fuji. DangāĀ„2,000 for 30 minutes? Itās closed now, but Iād like to ride it someday. I arrived to Oishi Park just a bit late. I was going to eat somethingĀ
hereātempuraābut itās kinda expensive. Iāve made it to my hotel. Today my hotel is Noborizakawa Hotel. It was the only hotel open on the day. Ā„9,000. And itās supposed to have a Mount Fuji view. It has that nice 80s feel. The golden age of Japan. The toilet seems like a newer model. Wowāvery Mount Fuji view. Nice. Waitāthereās even a bath! Thereās a lot of restaurants around: Sushiro, Lawson… I want to eat meat. Gyu-Kaku. The biggest BBQ chain in Japan. Might be 10 years since Iāve had Gyu-Kaku. Letās give it a try. Aged Thick-Cut Kalbi Family Kalbi Addictive Harami Premium Lean Wagyu Kurashita Pork Kalbi raw seasoned meat this meat looks kinda raw Now that’s better. Waitāitās kinda good. Kalbi is good. At Gyu-Kaku,Ā Ā order the Kalbi. Total: Ā„3,410 Maybe I shouldāve tried theĀ
all-you-can-eat for like Ā„4,000… Thanks for the meal. I need to bathe and rest. Goodbye. Thereās even a rest place. And for the final, -196°C drink. Never tried this before. And this. And chicken. This drink really hurts my lips. Tomorrow morning: Iāll head to the pagoda place. Early morning. I hope I can wake up. Waitāyou can kinda see Mount Fuji? What theā Good nighters. Good morning. What a very nice, clear day. Itās cold, 3°C out. Iāll wait until it gets warmerā14°C. This seems ideal. Letās head out. You can really see MountĀ
Fuji from the ground floor. Itās really that big. It was a pretty nice hotel. I almost lost my earbuds. I remember nowāI had a dream aboutĀ
riding this in yesterdayās dream. Holyāthatās a lot of people. Letās go. I made it to Arakurayama Sengen Park. I got a crane with a broken neck! That is a lot of people! Itās worse than Kyoto, not gonna lie. What the heckkkkkkkkk. Is this lineeeee?? An hour-long line to take a photo. The line is insane theres even people taking pictures of a picture. Long waiting time… Wowzers. Beautiful. You’ve probably seen this view at least once before. What a beautiful sight. ćććåćććć I bought a good luck charm. Itās like the perfect souvenir. I got the āwish come trueā charm. Got a nice cherry blossom feelāpretty cool. I got a treat for myself. Itās not just a soft serve. Itās a Japanese-style monaka ice cream. Thereās even mochi inside. Japan is home to many famous udon spots, but today I’m trying “Yoshida no Udon,” known for being the hardest udon noodles in Japan. They’re seriously jaw-droppingly firm! It’s good. Thanks for the udon. Now that I ate something,Ā
I realized I was starving. Iāll go get something to eat. Itās also a good time for lunch. Iād like to relax away from all the tourists. This place seems great. You can even see Mount Fuji. I got the sakura braised pork setāĀ„1,400. As expectedāitās good. The rice is good. I think they cook the riceĀ
in a traditional rice cooker. Thanks for the food. Now heading to Oshino Hakkai. There isn’t really an entrance here since it’s free to enter. You’ve got to follow the crowd. I got a rice cakeāitās too hot. Green. Oshino Hakkai! A set of eight natural spring waterĀ
ponds located in the village of Oshino,Ā Ā between Lake Kawaguchi and Mount
Fuji in Yamanashi Prefecture. The ponds are fed by snowmeltĀ
from Mount Fuji, filtered throughĀ Ā porous lava underground over decadesā
making the water extremely clear and pure. Each pond has a name and spiritualĀ
significanceāhistorically tied toĀ Ā purification and the worship of Mount Fuji. Recognized as part of the FujisanĀ
Cultural World Heritage site. Today, itās a popular tourist spotĀ
with traditional thatched-roof houses. That was number 5. This stuff tastes like grass. Dangālook! Number 3āitās like a jewel. Thereās still a fountain springing out. Number 6āunlike the otherĀ
lakes, this one is murky. Number 8… my stomach hurts. Imagine living here… Wow, so peaceful. Number 4. Number 2āitās a puddle. I couldnāt find pond number 1 for some reason. It might be far from here. So Iāll call this one the number 1 pond. Weāve had enough fun looking at ponds. Now itās time to head to my last destination: Oishi Gardenārevenge time. Wowza. What a beautiful sight. The light blue hues of the flowersĀ
really complement the mountains. Smells like spring. somebody is fishing. Theyāre planting new flowers. There are more flowers than yesterday. Raspberry and pistachio… Might be the worst combo. Welpāyou got the angle wrong. Waitāheās correcting it. You learn from your mistakes. Well, thanks all for today. Thanks for watching! Have a nice day!
