on our way to mount fuji, we visit costco in japan
Today we’re driving to Shizuoka! We bought coffee from the konbini for breakfast Estimated driving time: 1.5 hours Shizuoka is famous for its Mount Fuji views, seafood and tea Shibuya Sky, what’s up? We’re planning to stay in Shizuoka for 1 night to see Mount Fuji But the weather forecast isn’t looking too good So we’ll take a detour to a place we’ve been wanting to go for a long time! We’re here! We found the most aesthetic Costco! It has cherry blossoms along the road! Turning in! And it has security! (The Costco membership is worldwide!) If there’s one thing you should know about planning to see Mount Fuji as a tourist, Is that you should plan for other things as well! As you know, Mount Fuji can be very elusive So if your schedule is very tight, you may not see Mount Fuji So you should plan for other activities as well! Right now we are parked at Costco Japan! We’ve always wanted to come here I’m so excited to see what they have in store So let’s go now! And shop! I’m really excited to visit Costco in Japan because there’s something I want to buy Since Mount Fuji isn’t visible today, it gives us an excuse to go! This is the prettiest Costco I’ve been to! The cherry blossom trees! Making use of my Costco membership 😂 What they have a Costco Canada bag?! I don’t know if we even have that in Canada! At a glance, it looks like we walked into a North American Costco I will leave the prices of all the items in the vlog! So cute! They have Snoopy stacking mugs! This is such a pretty colour! Is it for takoyaki? Yeah takoyaki! No way! I’m curious to see what snacks they sell in Japan Look at these super-sized chocolate boxes! Massive chocolate! Souvenirs galore! This is like gacha but reversed! All the snacks are ginormous! And of course, Victor has to hit up the sample stations Comfort soup! This is a made in Oregon sauce With this dude on the front! Pretty funny! A kilo of Kewpie mayonnaise! They have a bulk pack of the kikkoman soy milk drink! And of course, they have the most beautiful platters of sushi and fresh seafood 🤩 Boxes of whitebait, spicy pollack and seaweed salad A set of 3 boxes of half a dozen donuts! And of course the famous Costco roasted chicken! And of course, Vic’s favourite, shrimp cocktail! ¥428! Here they have Canada pork shabu shabu! And Canada pork loin tonkatsu! We have blueberry crepe! The Costco cake design for spring Very cute! How much is it? ¥998! (That’s cheaper than the $19 Erehwon strawberry😂) Costco Japan sells the original wishbone chair here For ¥185,800 I can’t believe they have actual, authentic designer pieces here! Mount Fuji erasers! They have a Miffy pop-up They have the viral, exploding milk pudding from Hokkaido! We got wagyu beef here! Wah look at that marbling! We’re going to get a platter of sashimi for the road! We got some Hokkaido fluffy cheese sponge cake Looks like fluffy pancakes! Now for pharmaceuticals! The Skinfood carrot toner pads This was really hard to get last year when we were in Seoul! The popular cough medicine But I’m looking for one specific item in Costco Japan: We have the Costco 3 Pack bag This one is so cute which is their shopper tote that’s included in this bundle! They also have this option but I’m not super keen on the design Every bag also comes with a miniature one! So cute! Victor looks forward to this the most: Oh my God, they have Hokkaido soft cream, clam chowder salmon poke roll and jumbo bulgogi bake! Since it’s lunch time, there’s a long line I think they serve iced coffee Wow! It’s like a beef bulgogi burrito 7.5/10 The clam chowder hits the spot on this cold, spring day 8.7/10 Passed by a row of sakura trees so we’re going to make a quick stop Alright another hour and 10 minutes before we get to our next destination The GPS tells you what each service stop includes We just got on the highway, just to get off the highway To check out this pitstop! Candy apples from Daikanyama Maisen katsu sandwich food truck! 🤯 Japanese service stops are elite There’s a massive gift and souvenir shop here What the heck is this! Koala’s March collaboration with Tokyo Banana? They have a keychain And also cookies! They also have a little tote bag! So cute! I have this biscuit as a gacha And they sell it at the pitstop! A large food court The ramen was soggy 😅 I feel like all our Tokyo vlogs lately have been of the rain 😂 Nobody seeing Fuji today I want to stop by this cafe that’s only 10 minutes from our hotel quatre épice is a cake shop, chocolatier and cafe rolled into one The cafe has a French antique atmosphere It feels like something out of the movie “Chocolat” The éclair is delicious but the coffee I will skip next time haha We’re back at Toyoko Inn! We stayed here 2 years ago Really liked it! Many Japanese hotels have pyjamas you can borrow You can also pick up simple toiletries and tea packets! We’re a little disappointed that we probably won’t see Mount Fuji this time But at least the view from our hotel window is nice! We are staying at the Toyoko Inn across Shin-Fuji station This is our second time staying at this hotel We really love it because you have free breakfast, It’s only HKD 500 And you get a view of Mount Fuji if you’re lucky in the morning! Let me give you a quick room tour! Toyoko Inn is a chain hotel so all hotels are pretty much the same layout Here you see the double bed and a small dining/living room On the opposite end of the room we have a small desk, TV You also have all the small amenities like a kettle, a humidifier and a vanity table The hotel rooms are very functional and clean Ours also faces the Shinkansen station so you can see the trains whizz by Hotels in Tokyo are really expensive now, But in Shizuoka, everything is quite affordable So if you’re looking for a place to go besides Tokyo, I’d recommend coming to Shizuoka! Please enjoy Victor’s POV from the hotel window: We’ll hit up the konbini for dinner All I can think about is the gacha This is Lipton lemon tea but alcoholic version! They literally just sell a tub of whipped cream! Literally?! Just whipped cream? Nothing else? It’s a matcha pudding, mascarpone style! And regular pudding! “Popular with foreign tourists🫰🏼” I really like looking at their “mooks” (magazine + book) Peko sticky notepad set Going to try this chocolate tea latte Since it’s sakura season, there are many seasonal drinks Soup we’ll reheat back at the hotel For a USD 20 platter, the sashimi quality is pretty good! Here’s a few photos from today! A quick breakfast before checking out The hotel has a brochure introducing all the scenic Fuji spots nearby! Our chances of seeing Fuji today look quite slim The view today vs. November 2023 On a nice clear, day you can see Mount Fuji right here But right now it’s cloudy and foggy so nope! Let’s check out and grab lunch Kinon Cafe is only open on Thursday and Friday (10am-3pm) I’m always surprised that in even the quietest parts of Japan There are such stylish cafes Kinon Cafe is tastefully decorated with art, plants and ceramics I love this wall lamp! You can tell all the cups and plates are chosen thoughtfully Even the teaspoons are unique Today’s set includes hamburg steak with tomato, miso soup, salad and side dishes Simple but so pretty Even the bathroom interiors are impressive 😂 We are heading to the main event which is a row of cherry blossom And on a good day you should be able to see Mount Fuji in the back Unfortunately I don’t think we’re going to be able to see Fuji today Cuz it’s been raining non-stop since we got here But at least the cherry blossoms should be in bloom so we can enjoy that! On a clear day there are many places to see Mount Fuji! Click the top right video to see our Fujinomiya vlog! There is a row of cherry blossom trees along the Urui River Where you can capture Mount Fuji with sakura in a photo! From the parking lot you can cross the road to a tunnel of sakura “Hey bro, I can’t see Mount Fuji today” So on a good day you can see Mount Fuji on the top left And a row of trees in the front! If you’re interested to come here next year, They have a viewing deck on the left-hand side of this bridge What! Fuji came out! Random! Just the midsection. A little shy! Mount Fuji was only visible for 2 minutes 😂 Sakura ✅ Mount Fuji 🙅♀️ But that gives us an excuse to come back next year! We’re cold and we’re wet so we’re gonna go find a coffee shop just to warm up! A cottage-style cafe in a quiet residential neighbourhood They serve seafood bowls and sweets You have to take your own order アイス? The cafe was kind enough to bring out the coffee and sweets after our meal Check their Instagram for opening hours! The vending machine outside sells canelé too 😂 It’s almost a 3 hour drive back to Tokyo! This vlog is about Costco, service stops and coffee And a lack of Fuji Sounds pretty good to me! The first floor sells snacks, souvenirs and groceries Upstairs there are restaurants You can buy Neo’s sunglasses The real thing vs the gacha! Fun fact: there’s a cute Sanrio collection coming out With Famichiki It comes with a plush bag and it comes with a plush toy inside It’s like a Hello Kitty And you’re supposed to “rip” it open And you see it! Unfortunately you can only pre-order it now and you can get the item only in July! Which sucks cuz I really wanted one But I guess I’m not getting any Famichiki plush toys! We took a wrong exit and ended up driving through Shibuya Scramble Passing by Miyashita Park! Say goodbye to our last Tokyo Sakura Tram! I am so tempted to get this miffy cafe bag and keychain for my friend! Surprise! We ended up on the Pikachu Jet (You can’t book the plane- it’s by random) Special hot/iced drink cup design and cocktail napkins We did a Reel about our Pikachu Jet experience so watch it on Instagram! Here’s a few photos from our last day! Victor’s prints are out at the Pret A Manger You can’t buy it but you can look at his work as soon as you arrive Which is there! Arrival halls!
as a tourist, it takes a little bit of luck to see mount fuji 🗻
the week of the roadtrip, we knew our chances were slim but we already booked our car and hotel with the goal of seeing ryuganbuchi. we still wanted to make the most out of it so we made a side trip to visit costco to see what snacks they have and try the food court!
0:00 day 1 (shopping in costco japan eating at the food court, shizuoka hotel)
19:32 day 2 (ryuganbuchi, cafe hopping in shizuoka)
30:26 day 3 (flying the pikachu jet)

Hello from Shizuoka (静岡県)! Where are you watching from? 📺
Come to malaysia 🎉
your video has become a weekly staple 😁 couldn't miss one episode.
You're always driving in Japan — can you recommend any rental places that speak good English? I rented a car a couple of months ago, and I ended up having to rely on my tour guide for help with the checkout process since they didn't really speak English and my situational Japanese for this sort of thing is sub-par.
Will waiting for u guys to explore china❤❤
the breakfast looks so delicious! love your Japan trip content
The melancholy of the deserted Eki train station with one guard does it for me..
you guys should move to JAPAN lol, love the japan series 😉
Watching weekly from Miami, FL, USA. After watching this video I am adding a night in Shizuoka to my Tokyo/Japan travel itinerary this July. When booking at the hotel that you stayed at is there a specific room you need to book for a Mountain View? Hoping to have clear skies when we stay
Hi @@SamandVictor! always watching from the Philippines ☺️ I'd like to seek your advice, if I may. How much gigabytes do you think would I need for a 10-day trip to Japan. I wouldn't want to bring my laptop and external HDD tho 😅 Thanks in advance! 🫶🏽
Can you share the brand of your car phone holder?
even though you took the wrong turn into shibuya scramble, you got some pretty aesthetic shots of tokyo! The Ikebukuro one is amazing 😍😍
i need their music playlist
Does anyone know what camera they used for the photos?
Hey so how accommodating are japanese supermarkets/combinis for celiac/gluten allergies? I see all these wonderful things and fear I wont be able to eat them and will never get to go visit.
This video made me so hungry = ) Loving all the inspo for my trip this Fall! Hello from NYC!
Hi Victor, I noticed that you have this white mobile phone holder which u always attached to when you rent your car in Japan. I thought is a really slick phone holder which is very practical for overseas driving trips- may I know where did you get this from and any link which you can share ? Many thanks in advance
Sam, your shorter hair looks lovely on you!
can u share where u rented the car and the cost?
You were able to experience sakura season 2 years in a row! So jelly!! Glad you share the beautiful sakura with us though!
