I am traveling north. It’s been about three weeks since I started this journey. I finally saw the sun again. The scenery was very mysterious. This is Mount Asahi, the tallest mountain in Hokkaido. Tomorrow, I plan to reach the northernmost point of Japan. It will be another long trip. I’ll refill my coffee and get back on the road. Driving through the countryside of Hokkaido never gets boring. I often take too many detours and lose track of time. I’ll stop at a roadside station for a quick break. As the sun sets, the snow is getting heavier. Soon, I’ll need to cross a big mountain pass… I wonder if it will be okay… I’m feeling a bit anxious. I took too many detours…! I wanted to cross the pass while it was still daylight…! I’m still in the middle of the mountain pass. I had to stop my car at a parking area. A white curtain of snow blocks my view. Is there no way to prevent the camera from getting blocked by snow while driving? I’m starting to worry if I can reach my destination safely. I’ll proceed carefully. I somehow made it to the roadside station…! As soon as I arrived, the snow started to calm down…(crying) The building of the roadside station has lights on, but there’s no sign of people. It’s a very quiet place, with only the sound of falling snow. The snow keeps falling and stopping repeatedly. I’ll put up the rear sunshade first. I’ll also take out the oil stove. I won’t forget to ventilate the space. Without the sunshade, it feels like the cold air keeps coming in. This car has a digital rearview mirror, so keeping the sunshade up is not a problem. However, I take it down during the day as part of my routine and to allow visibility while driving. I’ve been thinking about DIYing a removable shelf like I had in my old mini van. I plan to create shelves for different activities like camping, gaming, and fishing. However, magnets might not hold securely, so I’m exploring ways to fix them without drilling into the car body. The car is getting really warm now. The fluorescent light looks like a mushroom. This place is so quiet. The sound of falling snow is just like this. I’ll continue setting up. For this Hokkaido trip, I collaborated with EcoFlow. I’ll use the clay pot my wife gave me as a gift. Tonight, I’ll cook a dish using unique ingredients from Hokkaido. I got canned bear meat. I’ll make bear meat rice in the clay pot. I’ll add mushrooms and green onions. And now the main ingredient, bear meat. It’s cooked with soy sauce and sugar. It’s been a while since I cooked rice in a clay pot. I hope it turns out well…! The bear meat smells amazing. It’s time for the big reveal. Great…! It’s cooked perfectly. I’ll try the other canned bear meat as is. The bear meat special set is ready. As I serve it, there’s a faint sweet aroma. First time trying bear meat. Itadakimasu. It’s lean red meat with little fat. This is delicious! I enjoy the slightly gamey flavor. I’ll definitely eat this again. Next, the canned bear meat as it is. This would go great with sake (though I’m drinking non-alcoholic now). And rice cooked in a clay pot is always so tasty. I finished it all in no time. Gochisosama. This car doesn’t have running water, so I clean the plates by wiping them down. This increases the trash a bit, but Tomorrow, I’ll finally reach the northernmost point. It’s a long drive, so I’ll sleep early and save my energy. I’ll relax with a candlelit moment. I’m reading comments from the last video. “I’m glad your wife seems well.” Thank you for the comment. Good night. Good morning. I woke up to the sound of a snowplow. It’s 5 a.m. Mornings start early in snowy areas. Thank you to everyone working on snow removal. Unlike yesterday, the weather is clear. I’ll take a short walk around the area. Is this some kind of nest? The blue and white contrast is beautiful. I’ll have breakfast while enjoying the view outside. I bought a mop to wipe off condensation. After 10 hours with the electric blanket, I used about 50% of the battery. For a single night, there’s enough power to spare. Time to make breakfast. Today, I’m making pizza toast. I hope the cheese doesn’t stick… I’ll finish it by toasting the surface with a burner. The smell of toasted cheese is so good. Itadakimasu. Crispy outside, soft and fluffy inside. It’s easy to make in a toaster, too. Highly recommended. Gochisosama. I used about 10% of the battery. The size fits perfectly under the bed, which I like.
