The world No. 2 is chasing her fourth Rome title in five years and will now face Danielle Collins. On the other hand, Japan’s Naomi Osaka continued her clay-court comeback, beating Viktorija Golubic 2-6, 7-5, 6-1. The former world No. 1, fresh off her first clay title in Saint-Malo, will next face Marie Bouzkova. Meanwhile, Italy’s Jasmine Paolini reached the third round with a 6-4, 6-3 win and will face Ons Jabeur next, who advanced after Petra Kvitova withdrew. Americans Jessica Pegula and Madison Keys also moved through and will face Elise Mertens and Peyton Stearns, respectively, in their round of 32 matches.
