KYOTO and NARA, JAPAN! (Katie In Hong Kong Ep. 9)

It’s bit me. I’m done with you. You’re mean to me. You’re a mean dear. Good morning. Today is Monday, April 21st. I am going to go exploring Kyoto today. I will also be hitting up the Nar Deer Park, the place that’s very high up on my list. I’ve had a great time here in Japan. If you didn’t see my Osaka video, go ahead and click the link above. I had such a wonderful time yesterday in Osaka. Today’s going to be a really fun sightseeing day. So, come and see everything I’m up to today. Damn. I made it to Nara Park and wow, my allergies are really bothering me. But I am so happy with all these deer. Before I start playing with the deer, I’m going to check out the Tojai Temple and hopefully get another Goshin today. And then I’m going to start really hanging out with these deer. I’m so excited. They are everywhere. Oh, I hope I find a baby. Hello. How is it going? And just like Chile nunnery, a big step to get in the temple must be a thing. I know that uh Toadi temple is based off the Tang Dynasty Buddhist temples. There is a correlation there. There’s also a viral mochi place here. I really hope I can get there. It opens at 10:00 a.m., but I know I have to get moving and I don’t really have a lot of time to spend here. I found more cherry blossoms. How incredibly gorgeous. I am so happy that I decided on this trip to come to Japan because I would have missed this. Even though there’s not many left, I’m still seeing them, which is all that matters. So, to get a gouin, I did have to purchase a ticket to go inside, but it’s okay. This is really important to me that I get these little stamps for my collection. Smells like incense. I love the smell of incense, but it’s not too overpowering. Not bad. Hello Thank you so much. How beautiful is that? I do think I need to start writing where these places are because I don’t think I’m going to know after I get a few more. Wow, how gorgeous. I don’t think I’m going to have enough time to go to the mochi place, which is so sad. I just am really running out of time. And I am prioritizing deer over mochi. That’s saying a lot. That’s saying a lot. I can get mochi all over Japan. I can only get narader here. Hello. Hey. Hi. Hang out. You’re just hanging out. They’re taking a load off. What you doing? Hang out the babies. Sunb. Hello. Yeah, I know. You want to go where the food is? Yeah. Hi. No. Okay, come over. Okay, sit. Oh. Oh, thank you. Oh, thank you. Hey. Yes. Oh, that’s very good. That’s very good. Yes. How much do I give you? I don’t want you to spoil your dinner. Yeah, pretty good. Hey, it’s bit me. No. Okay, I think we’re going to cut you off now. I’m done with you. You’re mean to me. You’re mean. You’re a mean, dear. I mean, to be fair, I bite people when I’m hungry, too. So, okay. These sunba actually smell really good. Kind of want to try one. Is that weird that I want to try one of the deer cookies? Hi, Oh my gosh. Wow. I’m cleared out. I’m cleared out. I have no more. So, now that I’ve got you all here, I am so at peace. Do you give kisses? You’re not a dog, are you? I’m definitely going to need to wash my hands. behind her. That’s hilarious. So, obviously, I’m very sad that I did not get emoji from that store, but I did get deer butter cookies and some other mochi that I found in the store. It’s so funny. I came to Japan and all I have to show for it are snacks. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you. Oh my gosh. How lovely. Got my own little setup here. Thank you. Let me check. You know, it’s good. Have a look. Beautiful. Heat. Heat. Oh, do not travel now. Well, that’s very scary because I was I’m on a trip. So, maybe I should not go to Shanghai next week. It is absolutely stunning here. But I don’t mean to be dramatic. I think I’m allergic to Japan. My eyes have just been watering all day. I’ve been sneezing all day. Been spending a lot of time in nature. It’s been really so beautiful. But I am hurrying through this bamboo forest because I can’t breathe. I just didn’t even think to bring allergy medicine at all. Thank you. Wow. How beautiful. There are so many groups here making it just impossible to like get a photo. So, as a solo traveler, it’s tricky because obviously I want photos in front of all of these amazing places, but it’s really awkward having to ask people every time. So, I’ve got a system, a cheat if you will. If you see a group of people trying to take a selfie photo, offer to take their photo for them. When they say thank you, say, “Oh, could you get one of me?” And then you got a photo. There you go. Solo travel hacken stonen. I got a little good luck charm for dreams coming true. So, we’re going to open it. And that’s what it looks like on the inside. For dreams coming true. Much like when I first arrived in Hong Kong, money means nothing to me here. Now in Hong Kong, I’m very much used to the different currency. Here in Japan, the yen, I just don’t understand at all. As far as I know, I’m not spending any money. All right, here’s my new one. Heading to my final stop of the day, the Fushimi Gates. I have had quite a day of exploring. And there’s the gate. Just kidding. I’m going to sleep so well tonight after all of this sightseeing if I can even make it back through all of these stores because if I don’t buy everything. All right, we’ve made it to Fushimi. Fushimi Inari. Out of all the things to do in Kyoto, this was the number one pick that all of my friends recommended. So, very excited for this one. My camera is at 10% battery, so praying that I can at least get most of this. All right, here we go. Wow, look at this. Well, hello there. How’s it going? Hey, what are you doing? My one qualm with my day today, other than my allergies, is that a lot of the public restrooms here don’t have soap, which I find is to be just so shocking because I always think of Japan as being a very pristine and clean place and then there’s no soap in the bathrooms. It’s a little bit shocking to me, but not here to judge, just share my experience. All right, I’m going to do an omuji. So, first I have to shake it and then I tell the number to the staff. Number 10. Here’s my fortune. And I can’t read it, so we’ll look that up later. All righty. Goshin was closed for today, but I got this so I can paste it into my little book. All right, I got to be honest. I am pooped. I’m really tired and I could use a snack. So, I think I’m going to take this time to walk back through the streets where there were a lot of snacks. After that, I’m going to start my journey back to Osaka. But, this has been such an incredible day. I’m going to do a little bit of shopping, I think, too. And then once I get back to Osaka, I am going to do a haul for sure, just like I did for Osaka. I’m going to do a Kyoto haul, but I have a feeling it’s mostly food still. When in Japan, right? Steak on a stick. Hey, I had Kobe beef for lunch and Wagu beef for dinner. This is not my dinner. I’m going to be really hungry in a little bit, but yay. I got it with barbecue sauce. What a day. It was a really good day. I am so exhausted. I kind of feel like I was hit by a truck. Honestly, I’m looking at my makeup in the mirror. It is crusty. That means it was a really, really good day. I’m so happy. I had so many places on my list that I wanted to visit in Kyoto. And I got to all of them. So, I’m really, really happy. Even though it was an incredibly long day, I’m so happy I was able to see these places that I wanted to go to. I know a lot of them were very very touristy, but I feel like when you come to a new city, you got to do the tourist things first. The temperature was hot at one place, cold at another place, really windy, a third place. The weather was so random. Anytime I got to a new location, I didn’t know what to expect. I do want to share my Kyoto Naul. Well, clearly it’s not as much as what I got yesterday in Osaka, which if you have not checked out that vlog, it’s a really good one. Here’s everything that I got in Kyoto and Nara. So, first off, in N, I got these deer butter cookies, which I think I showed earlier. Some Buddha mochi. I feel like when I go to Disney World, I bring back a lot of merchandise. A lot of shirts, pins, ears, backpacks, that kind of stuff. Japan, it kind of makes sense that it’s food. So, anyways, I got these little sugary rice cracker things. They kind of reminded me of the ones at Trader Joe’s, which if you know, you know. I kind of wish that they would have just filled up this bag so that I didn’t have to buy two, but say I love you. The last of the food stuff, I got this brown sugar warabi mochi, which this was at the King Kaku Gi Temple. It was a little stand and I had been looking for brown sugar mochi this whole trip and finally found it. So, we got a lot of mochi that we’re bringing home. Okay, good luck charm for chasing my dreams. I also don’t know like do I put this on my backpack? Do I just keep it on my shelf? Don’t really know what to do with it. At Nar Deer Park, I got this little keychain. It kind of looks like those little Disney what are they called? Like mumu not mumoos. I don’t know what they’re called. They look like the little Disney ones. I got a little deer magnet, maybe for my locker at work. And then I got a few more goins for my book. I got a lot today. I’m so happy I got this book yesterday before I started getting all of the different stamps. But I don’t love this design if I’m being honest. Every temple I went to today had this really pretty pink flowery one and I was so tempted to buy it and like cut out the ones I have and like paste them in there. But it’s not really that deep, you know? I don’t know exactly the next time I’m coming to Japan. So, I think this is fine. I’m not living here. I’m not going to temples all the time. It’s just a cool thing and it’s really not that deep. Toaii Temple. Ooh, pretty. This one is Arashiamyama Bamboo Forest. They didn’t have the like drawing version, but I still got it. Anyways, it was weird to me that I had to pay for the stamp version when they literally just took it and stamped it. That was weird to me because it was the same price in the other temples as when they like fully draw. So, whatever. It’s fine. King Kaku Ji Temple on this page. And then my last one was at Fushimi Inari and they had closed the Gossawin stand. So I got this one. It’s beautiful. So I’m going to have to like paste it in my book somewhere. Really so happy that I started doing this. I just think it’s really really fun. And again, I’m going to have to write in which places these are all from because clearly I can’t read them. Um yeah, an incredible day, an incredible trip to Kyoto and N. I’m so happy that I took this day trip. I could have just stayed in Osaka for the two days, but I’m so glad that I made the trip to Kyoto because there were some amazing things. I think it’s really hard to tell which city I like more because I spent like one full day in each city. I would really love to really really explore Japan so fully. I would love to either book a tour that comes through here or come on an extended trip. I had a really really great time. Thank you so much for following along and I will see you in the next one. Bye.
