Hiroshima & Miyajima Island in 2 Days π―π΅ | History, Peace & Natural Beauty
Our Japan adventure begins in Hiroshima β a city with a heartbreaking past, incredible resilience, and stunning natural beauty. Spending a day here was powerful, emotional, and deeply humbling. From visiting the Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park to reflecting at the Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall, we were reminded of the strength of the human spirit and how this city has rebuilt itself with hope and purpose over the last 80 years.
We also made time to explore Hiroshima Castle, stroll through the lively Hondori Street, and end the evening with craft beer at Hiroshima Neighbourly Brewing, soaking in the atmosphere of a city that has found a way to honor the past while embracing the present.
The next day, we took an early train and ferry to Miyajima Island β a place weβve always dreamed of visiting. Known for the iconic floating torii gate at Itsukushima Shrine, wild deer, and peaceful mountain trails, this island gave us a totally different pace and perspective. Even though itβs a popular destination, we were able to find quiet pockets of nature, walk through serene parks, explore Daisho-in Temple, and enjoy a peaceful lunch in Omoto Park under the sun with deer by our side.
We finished the day with a drink at Miyajima Brewing, reflecting on how grateful we were to experience both the history and beauty of these special places at the start of our trip across Japan.
If you’re planning your own trip to Japan, we hope this video shows you why Hiroshima and Miyajima Island deserve a spot on your itinerary.
