  1. And dumb shit like this is why the samurai went extinct. wtf is this dumbass pageantry at the cost of accuracy and good form. What a bunch of clowns samurai’s were

  2. In Europe that probably would've been called a hand mortar. Basically an anti-boarding ship weapon meant to be man portable. On board ships something like that would be sturdily mounted to a rail and it would fire something analogous to buckshot or flechette rounds. The volume would be several times that of a 10 gage shotgun, a weapon mostly for warfare or killing things like elk and bear, so the recoil would be monstrous.

It's more like the broadsider from fallout 4 than anything else. It is a man-deployable roughly 2 pounder siege mortar. Firing drills like this and experiences of Russian hand mortar grenadier companies are probably a part of why modern mortar companies have moved to upright stationary mortars but continue to refine man-portable explosive delivery systems.

  3. Respect for this tradition. Their armor looks very cool. Though. I can’t help but feel that if he were to have tucked his arms in tight and have a proper anchor, he would maintain his posture. Still, very cool!
