Day 2 of my Kagoshima trip Today, we’ll tour Kirishima City Kirishima City is also full of attractions. Among them, this time we will visit a popular restaurant with long lines and the oldest station in Kyushu, and a sake brewery tour. You can also enjoy the famous Kirishima Shrine and Kagoshima’s specialty, black pork shabu-shabu. The content is very rich. We’ll introduce as many places as possible. Kirishima City was also fun. Kirishima Trip The first place we’ll introduce is “Kurozu Garden Tsubo-bata.” Fukuyama-cho, Kirishima City Black vinegar is made here using a traditional method that has been passed down for over 200 years. black vinegar is made in jars. This was a shop run by “Sakamoto no Kurozu.” Going down the stairs, you will find a wide variety of black vinegar, drinks, dressings, and other products made with black vinegar. You can try a sample. They are arranged in this order. This is the black vinegar from the first year. Black vinegar water with strawberries, apple black vinegar mixed with milk, and plum water. Something with a dressing called olive and pepper. This is strawberry black vinegar, apparently. The strawberry aroma isn’t very strong, but you can faintly smell it afterward. Apple black vinegar Milk and black vinegar go well together Plum water You can really taste the black vinegar. Adding milk makes it taste like yogurt. If you try it, you’ll want to buy it. The scenery you often see in travel magazines is located in the back. It seems that they have been using the same manufacturing method since the Edo period. The pottery-making technique seems to be unique in the world. Amazing! The view of the pots lined up below was breathtaking. If the weather is good, you can see Sakurajima in the distance. The shop was filled with a rich aroma, and the displays were easy to see. It was a quiet and moving experience. Next, I plan to try the roast pork cutlet at a popular restaurant. This is a restaurant called “Kurobuta no Yakata.” It’s a popular restaurant that has lines even on weekdays. When I went there after 11:00, it was already full. Try it with soy sauce. ou can have seconds of rice, pork soup, and salad. Just let us know when you’re ready. Sorry for the wait. It’s really thick. It’s delicious. It looks delicious. The soy sauce is sweet. The texture is crispy, and the meat juices overflow—it’s the best meat. It was absolutely delicious. I was amazed at how delicious Kagoshima black pork is. I definitely recommend waiting in line to try this. By the time we left the restaurant, there was a line of people waiting. Even on weekdays, it seems normal to wait an hour. Here is the popular menu ranking. Everything is definitely delicious. No matter what you choose, you can’t go wrong. It’s a 10-minute drive away. This is a “bright rural distillery.” You can buy it online, but it’s better to go there and see where it’s made and who makes it. Knowing that makes the sake taste even better. The mountains you can see in the distance are called the Kirishima Mountains. There are 23 mountains lined up side by side. It is said that the gods descended there in ancient times. Such legends remain. At the summit, there is a spear said to have been thrust there by a god. Sakamoto Ryoma and his wife climbed this mountain on their honeymoon. The Kirishima Mountains are the source of the Kirishima River, which flows through this area. Shochu is brewed using groundwater from the river. This is the most important aspect when talking about the bright rural landscape. It has an alcohol content of about 36%. regular shochu is diluted with water to adjust the alcohol content to 25%. When adjusted to 25%, one tank alone is equivalent to about 17,000 bottles of shochu. which would take 40 years to drink every day. This tank takes about a year to produce the final product. After aging for more than three years, it becomes aged sake. If the product name includes “aged sake,” it has been aged for at least three years and has a smooth taste. This is a blueberry field. We soak sweet potatoes in shochu and sell it as a liqueur. This is an important jar that we have been using for 114 years. The blue boxes contain sake from our sister brewery in Kirishima City, Satsuma-Sendai. I fell in love with sweet potato shochu after trying it for the first time about a year ago in Kagoshima. Of course, I also knew about the sweet potato shochu called “Bright Rural Village.” Hearing about the rich history and emotions behind this place made me love sweet potato shochu even more. It’s located along the road to Kirishima Shrine, so it’s very easy to find. The large torii gate came into view. It is 22.4 meters high. It is said to be the largest in western Japan. Past that is a roundabout where you can park and walk through the main approach. This time, we will park in the parking lot ahead and visit the shrine. The main hall and the kagura hall I wanted to see the sacred tree and get a stamp. The forest of this shrine and the solemn atmosphere when I visited Once you experience it, you will never forget it. It’s quite far from Kagoshima City, but I’m glad I came here. Even if it takes time, I recommend visiting. After leaving Kirishima Shrine, we headed west. We took a break at the roadside station “Kirishima.” The hot spring water I bought on a whim at Hyuga Mountain had a subtle sweetness and a light taste, and it was delicious. What came into view was “Maruo Waterfall.” It’s a rare hot spring waterfall where hot spring water flows down. The parking lot was right next to it. Maruo Waterfall It’s said to be a waterfall with hot spring water flowing through it. It was a mysterious and impressive waterfall that looked like there was a hot spring at the bottom. 5 minutes from the waterfall. This is “Kirishima Hot Spring Market.” It’s a place like a roadside station in the Kirishima Hot Spring Village. The steam seems to be inviting us. Here, you can eat eggs and vegetables steamed in hot spring steam. It’s very hot! Next, I’ll take you to two unusual places. こThis is the Sekihei Mineral Spring in Kirishima City. It is the only mineral water manufacturing plant in Japan operated by a local government. Delivery is available in-store, or you can take it with you via drive-thru. At first, I wasn’t sure what to do. The biggest feature of Sekihei Mineral Water is that、 it boasts one of the highest natural silica contents in the world. I guess mixing it with shochu would make for a healthy drink. Nearby is Sekihei Onsen, which is said to be one of the best hot springs in the country. It seems there are two types of baths: private baths and a large public bath. I’d like to try the hot springs next time I visit Kagoshima Prefecture. Kirishima Onsen, Sekihei Onsen, and Ibusuki Onsen are all great, aren’t they? Next up is another unique spot, an unmanned station called “Kareigawa Station.” It began operating in 1903 and has a retro wooden station building that is over 100 years old. Kagoshima Airport is nearby, isn’t it? On Saturdays and Sundays, Kareigawa Bento box lunches are also sold. This bento box has been ranked number one in Kyushu’s station bento rankings for three consecutive years. We have arrived at our hotel for tonight. The proximity to both the Sakurajima Ferry and Tenmonkan was the deciding factor. Although it’s a downtown hotel, the rooms are spacious, very quiet, and comfortable. Tonight, I plan to eat black pork shabu-shabu at Tenmonkan. This is “123 Tenmonkan Store.” t’s a restaurant specializing in Kagoshima black pork. This restaurant was the first in Japan to serve black pork shabu-shabu with soba sauce. This restaurant is located in Kagoshima, a black pork producing area, and wants customers to experience the various flavors of pork. In addition to shabu-shabu, there are various other dishes available. It was delicious. All the Kagoshima gourmet food I ate on this trip was delicious. Whether you come for the hot springs, to explore history, to see the spectacular scenery, or to enjoy the gourmet food, Kagoshima is wonderful because you can enjoy it all. It says “Doctor.” I wondered who it was, so I looked it up. She was a Japanese nutritionist and a Doctor of Agriculture from the University of Tokyo. She was the second woman in Japan to earn a doctorate in agriculture, and one of only three women to graduate from the Imperial University.   2. 黒豚しゃぶしゃぶ食べたい
    黒豚の館行きたかったけど行けなかった残念
    定番ですが、蒸しゆで卵、コーン🌽、さつまいも🍠買ってホテルで食べました
    あの有名な婚約大浴場のホテル
    一応しきりあるけど、向こうから入ってこれる様になってました
    まあ1メートル先は見えないくらい湯気でもくもくでしたょ
    霧島は3度ほど行ってます
    霧島ねら日帰り可能だ!

    黒酢は様々な使い道があるので、ドラ旅さんオリジナルの使用法を編み出してみては?
    黒豚の館のトンカツ、美味そうでしたね。交通費が嵩むけど、食べに行きたい(笑)。
    明るい農村の蒸留所のミネラルウォーター、ドライブスルーでお持ち帰り可能とは、所変われば?かな。
    丸尾滝なら冬場の滝修行も楽かもしれないけど、多分に熱くて無理でしょうね(笑)。
    鹿児島の温泉も、次回ゆっくり浸かると良いですよね。
    豚肉のしゃぶしゃぶ、満足でしょう?。
    私ならしゃぶしゃぶはポン酢派ですね。

  4. 霧島東神社オススメです。第10代崇神天皇の身御代に創建されたそうです。
    主祭神は、イザナギノミコト、イザナミノミコトです。
    天之逆矛(あまのさかほこ)が社宝として祀られています。
    霧島に旅行した時に霧島神宮参拝の後こちらにも行きました。
