Gone Before 11:03─A Time We Must Never Forget : Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Survivors testimony

Michiko Yagi in Nagasaki City was exposed to the atomic bomb when she was a first-grade elementary school student, at the age of six. She was 3.3 kilometers away from the hypocenter. Because Mount Konpira lay between the hypocenter and the place where Yagi was, she survived.

After retiring as a teacher, Ms. Yagi has been sharing her experience as an atomic bomb survivor with school trip students visiting Nagasaki. She also serves as a member of the Peace Declaration Drafting Committee, which provides input on the content of the Peace Declaration read by the mayor of Nagasaki each year at the Peace Memorial Ceremony on August 9.
