【北海道の旅。下】Hokkaido First Snow Trip – Part two|昭和新山熊牧場~函館山~五稜郭塔~大沼公園~札幌國際滑雪場~狸小路~札幌雪祭|Feb 2025
Hokkaido, the northern island of Japan. The island is famous for lovely snowy landscapes in the winter, hot springs, ski resorts, and vibrant cities like Saporro. One of the most interesting aspects of Hokkaido’s wildlife is its bear population, especially the Hokkaido brown. Welcome back everyone. This is part two. Let’s go see some bears. [Music] I love the bears, but I’ve not seen any real bears before. This bear feeding experience here is totally safe. So, you don’t have to expect bears just jumping around all the time. They are low on the ground and we are high up. It is a unique experience to interact with these lovely bears. But make sure you have good aiming. Almost everyone loves you. I missed a lot. But it was so funny when they were waving their hands. [Music] The guy told us that the big bears and the small bears have to be separated or else they could kill the small jump. It’s still [Music] so our guides also told us stories about how it is now more often to have all bears wander into the local households to look for food due to environmental changes and they couldn’t find food in their natural habitat. But it is also very sad and reminds us the importance of saving the environment. After feeding the bears, it’s time to feed ourselves. And our lunch is only a short walk from where we are. But guess what? As soon as we hit the path, the snow starts falling. How magical is that? And with this beautiful open field covered in snow, it’s like a calling for us. The snowball fight is officially on. [Music] And surprise, the adults are joining in on the action, too. Traveling is all about embracing these moments, unplanned, and just go with the flow. Hello. Honestly, there’s nothing quite like playing in the snow. Is the spirit. [Music] [Music] Okay. After some thrilling rounds of snowball fights, this lunch is just what we need to warm up and [Music] recharge. yet. There’s plenty more to go. Next, we’re on our way to Hakaco day. The snow is falling more heavily during our road trip. I guess it’s the perfect time for a power nap. I was playing with my new pet. I choose to stay awake. We took a peaceful moment to enjoy the beautiful Hokkaido winter scenery outside the window. [Music] As soon as we arrived into Hakaco date, our plan is to get up to the top of Mount Hakote before the sunset to give us a better chance to secure a good spot to witness one of the best night view in the world. Let’s see about that. But as soon as we got to the cable car station, we realized it is going to be challenging as there are just far too many people with the same idea. Hazel, I barely could see. I am. [Music] Anyways, it is a port city filled with orange colored street lights illuminated its historic buildings and the scenic bay and sea. After spending some time, we decided to call it a day and head back to our hotel. We got better things to do with celebrating dad’s birthday. Hazel and me drew a picture for him. This hot spring hotel should be the most modern one we’ve had for this trip. Hi [Music] [Music] and surely we did make the most of it. Here we go. Day four. First up, we’re heading up to the very high ground again. Here you go, Hazel. Oreo coffee tower. It is a tall observational tower about 17 m high. From the top of the tower, we can enjoy a spectacular 360° view of the star-shaped park and the city view of Hakod. [Music] This viewing experience here allows us to be more relaxed to enjoy the view compared to the previous night. Especially we can now be taking more memorable photos without all the chaos. Goro Kaku Park actually a historical location. There are exhibition display about the history of this place some fun being a port city and it was actually the very first city that opened up to trade with the foreigners. Good to know but it’s also our chance to do some trading. Time to go grab some souvenirs with Ka and my family. [Music] Next stop, we’re on Anuma National Park. [Music] One of the most exciting activities is ice fishing on the frozen lakes. But first, let’s warm up for a sizzling lunch. There’s nothing quite like sharing a meal with the family before heading out. Delicious grilled seafood in a cozy corner while overlooking the snowy lantern. Now it’s time to hit the ice. Such an amazing experience. We are literally walking on the lake. I thought I will slip in a minute. We sat patiently and learned the instructions on how we should be fishing through the drilled hole with these special fishing gear. [Music] mama. I’m going to help [Music] you around. Anyways, it’s actually a traditional winter activity for that takes place from late December to early March for the family to spend some time in the wild together. I got a lot of free. It is an unforgettable experience that combines the beauty of nature with the thrill of fish. And this is a wrap for our time here in Hakodate as we will be driving back to Saporo where we will be spending our remaining days of this trip. [Music] I’m super excited to share my very first skiing experience here in Hokkaido. When we arrived at the ski resort, I couldn’t believe how beautiful everything looked. The snow was so fluffy and the mountains were huge. I was a little nervous, but also really excited. First mission is getting the gear on. It was a little hard, felt a bit heavy. Yeah, the instructor was very nice and showed me how to slide and stop. It was definitely confusing at first. Well done. All right. All right. But after several attempts, I think I started to get the hang of it. Okay. As I took my first few slides down the hill, I felt I was like flying or something. It was a little scary at first. I thought I couldn’t stop. But then I started to have so much fun. It was nice. I get to try skiing with my family together. For sure. I will be back. more skiing in the future. I hope Kayla will be a big girl and be as brave so that she will join us in the action next time. On the other side, Kayla and Jaden are also having loads of fun riding down on the sled. I even joined them for a bit. [Music] Yeeha! [Music] Oh my god, this Oh, it’s so fun. You should have seen that. Our next checkpoint is spending some time in the Saporro Town Center. One of Saporo’s coolest spots, Kanu Ki Ki Shopping Arcade. It is a shopping street that has it all. unique shops and charming restaurants from traditional souvenirs, trendy [Music] fashion. The store is filled with local. So, our group decided to split up the hund things that we wanted. Come on people, let’s talk. [Music] Yeah, this is our last evening here before going back home and we are heading to one of Japan’s coolest winter events. The annual Saporro Snow Festival has arrived. So, welcome to the show. Let’s go see the snow. This annual festival has been around since 1950. Since then, the event held every February and it transformed the city into a winter wonderland. You’ll find gigantic snow sculptures and you probably would recognize most of them. I did. So did Kayla. [Music] me now. So fine. Come around. I’ll show you how to fly. [Music] This trip was an exciting adventure filled with new experiences for kids. It was our first time playing in the snow, learning to ski, and even ice fishing on a frozen lake. [Music] [Music] Moana. These first time experiences, it taught us the joy of stepping out of our comfort zone. Most importantly, we have created lasting memories with our great family that we’ll cherish forever. [Music] Thank you everyone. Thank you for watching and that’s the wrap of this video. See you again for the next one. Bye. [Music]
The journey continues as we elevate our adventure with bear feeding and ice fishing on a frozen lake. We’ll reach the highest point in Hakodate before returning to Sapporo for our first skiing experience and attending the largest snow festival. Here comes part 2, lets get to it!
