Our First Time in Japan! Tokyo was a Culture Shock!

welcome to Tokyo we are a family of three from
the UK going to Japan for the very first time in   this video we will show you how we spent 2 and
1/2 days exploring all that Tokyo has to offer   including iconic viral eats convenience store food
one-of-a-kind stores and beautiful shrines this   was a jam-packed couple of days that pumped up
straight into the culture shock of Japan [Music]   welcome to Heathro Terminal 5 where we’re
going to be starting off our trip over to   Asia so this is going to be our first time
over there and we’ve got lots planned uh the   majority of the trip is going to be spent
in Japan but also going to South Korea as   well however we’re going to be starting off
the trip with a long flight with our little   one they’re just over there and we’re going to
attempt to fly 13 hours with a 2-year-old so   we just dropped the bags off i’ve got a sort
of dedicated family check-in for BA that all   went really smoothly no complaints there and now
we’re going to go through security uh probably   check out the lounge and then hopefully
get on a flight not too soon welcome to Japan so just stepped out into Tokyo for the
first time and wow what an interesting place   it looks absolutely amazing and quite
hungry cuz it’s lunchtime and there’s   only one place you can start with 7-Eleven
so definitely need to try one of these tuna   mayonnaise rice balls the onigiri absolutely so
138 yen are you getting one Jamie what a flavor   there’s grilled salmon tuna mayonnaise red
salmon plum yeah two of them okay two of them   are fired come over to the sandwiches oh and
there’s literally one left one egg mayonnaise   left absolutely need to try that do we need a
strawberry one that’s also on my list though okay   we get that and the strawberry one she can have
that one the egg mayo i think the baby will like   this one she loves egg and bread i think that’
be a winner absolutely okay so we’ll probably   also get the fried chicken and we’ll also try a
corn dog as well so lunch is secured next we’re   going to go up and try it we’re probably going
to head back to the room first we went for melon   pan and oni guri that’s how you pronounce it
we got one of those each we got a strawberry   sandwich what’s that one we got the egg salad
sandwich for the baby hopefully she might let   us have a little try and then a corn dog and
the fried chicken and they also gave us some   sauce and it was all £90 something it’s like a
uh 1,700 yen so we’ll give it a try and see how   it goes but also the table which I was initially
quite skeptical of has come very useful so we’re   going to start off with the crispy chicken or
some sort of fried chicken i’m not sure which   one this was but some sort of fried chicken
very tasty really flavorful but I think it’s   more thy as opposed to chicken breast like I think
would normally be useful used to but yeah that’s   quite good okay just finish up with the fried
chicken that was that was nice but it was um it   was quite greasy i’ve also heard Japan’s famous
for their corn dogs so we’re going to give this   one a go next and they also gave you a sauce
for it as well oh oops spilled it on the table already but yeah that’s that’s quite handy please
go for the corn dog i know quite a lot of the I’m   in kind of pastry to the sausage i’m in the dog
please quite sweet as well and you have a bite you   going to have a bite yeah that’s good that’s good
don’t really have many corn dogs in the UK so yeah   that makes quite a nice change so I had to crack
the wet wipes out cuz the chicken and the corn dog   are quite greasy but let me try some of her egg
salad sandwich quite looking forward to this one   it’s really different wow yeah i was just
expecting it to be like the ones back home   but it’s um it’s got some other taste i think
it’s slightly sweeter um yeah that’s really   nice and very soft as well yeah that’s definitely
a winner so now we got the onuri went for the tuna   mayo one we got one of these each it’s really
strangely wrapped like the seaweed was wrapped   and then the rice was wrapped separately inside
it um wasn’t expecting that so yeah definitely   follow the instructions when opening it yeah
that’s definitely a winner yeah far better than   any sushi style thing that you would ever find in
Tesco’s or even um like it itsu or something like   that okay now for the most visually attractive
one of them all the strawberry sandwich which   I’m not sure what’s inside it it was like cream
cheese or whipped cream but we’ll give this a go so it’s very fresh and light and strangely I
didn’t think it would work but it does actually   really really work well together the bread
with the I think it’s whipped cream and the   strawberries they should definitely start selling
these at Wimbledon for sure i think they’d be on   to a winner there if they don’t already i don’t
know okay and I would say last up is the sweet   treat but this is a melon pan but um you know a
lot of those other things have already been quite   sweet like the corn dog was quite sweet which I
was quite surprised at and also the um strawberry   sandwich is also very [Applause] sweet smells
nice it’s quite crunchy on top it’s got like I   think like a sugar glaze tastes like a very sweet
light soft bread doesn’t really have any flavor to   it doesn’t taste like melon or anything literally
just tastes plain which I thought it would have   had some sort of flavor to it but it’s still
nice that was quite a big lunch from 7-Eleven so   had a chat and come to an executive decision with
Jamie and we’ve gone with the strawberry sandwich   as number one egg salad as number two the tuna
mayo oni was come in third place corn dog come   in fourth place we said the fried chicken come in
fifth and the melon pan come in sixth so me and   J been up 24 hours baby most sleep in the on the
flight so we’re trying to stay awake at least to   a eveningish time so we thought we’ll come to the
most stimulating place around the mega dolphin and   see what this is like before probably trying
to find some dinner and then finally heading   to bed wow isn’t there just loads of stuff
here this is absolute madness so much stuff what’s the other one even this just the sheer
volume of Kit Kats s flavored Kit Kat that’s   definitely going to be on the list sarco flavored
Kit Kats what is going on with these ceilings the   amount of just sheer wires that are just hanging
everywhere with just no nothing to make it   visually pleasing is crazy we just come up to the
second floor and there’s just such a vast array of   different kinds of sweets and food on this floor
every floor seems to kind of almost have its own   theme going on and we do like our food so we
thought we’d check this one out we’ve headed   up to floor seven which is full of souvenirs and
there is just loads like hats magnets t-shirts   key rings pens everything absolutely loads so we
just finished up at Donote and that was definitely   a hit for the senses in there um very bright
very colorful very loud loads of people loads   of stuff yeah it’s um crazy in there to be honest
and so big as well sort of over about nine floors   I think seven eight nine floors absolutely massive
didn’t get any further I think that time he’s sort   of trying to go to waste a bit of time to bring
the evening in a bit but starting to lag now cuz   um probably been awake for over 24 hours for us
baby’s done the wise thing and taken a nap in her   pram we’re going to head back we’ve acquired some
Mackey’s on the way back so we’ll show you two   of the different burgers that they do out here at
McDonald’s so we’re quite curious to try them out   and see if it’s any better but the organization
in that McDonald’s absolutely impeccable uh   really quick really smooth great service as well
they got someone literally there handing out all   the orders on the same side of the table as the
customers so yeah really really impressed at the   efficiency there also the customer service but
so far everything’s been really really good in   regards to that so this is what we’ve gone for
a quick dinner so this is the shrimp o burger so   I never had that before and this is the teriyaki
chicken burger and Jamie’s got a melon Fanta over   there then we’ve got fries as well and a Happy
Meal but we’ll see how these are when it comes   to the Happy Meals here again pretty standard so
chips chicken nuggets and milk and there was a   choice having Edman corn um instead of the chips
but she wasn’t really fancying that and then it   come with this like activity book which you also
get the choice of what you wanted as well but   this has got some animals in it so I thought she
would like that let’s start off with Jamie’s melon fans what do you think it’s an odd start and it’s like a weird aftertaste
but it’s all right it tastes really artificial I   thought yeah it’s really really fake okay
let’s start off with the shrimp burger so   see how different it is from a fillet of
fish the sauce in it really really nice   it’s actually got like kind of whole chunks of
little shrimps yeah that’s really nice i like that what do you think just better than um fish back home isn’t
it yeah I think so no that’s really nice   yeah it’s not that fishy either so
I think even if you’re not a massive   fish fan it is still quite good it’s just
the teriyaki which also looks like it’s   got mayonnaise in it as well which is
a bit interesting okay that’s unique that’s really different yeah if you would have
said that’s from Mackey I wouldn’t have believed   it it’s good yeah that um Yeah that kind
of Asian flavor in a McDonald’s it’s good   but really different it’s a shame they don’t do
specials like that back home i know they should   bring like a special from around the world
properly from each country yeah and properly   properly do it rather than doing ones where it’s
like oh it’s this but then it’s like just a Oh   yeah here have a double Big Mac yeah and the
fries are pretty standard really normal yeah   overall yeah that’s pretty good i’m impressed
with that definitely need to try some other   stuff on the menu at some point in this trip as
well um that was quite a long travel day today   you can say that again yeah it was a little bit
too long but yeah it felt like forever being in   the uh just economy seats I think and where we’ve
sat you just couldn’t sleep so thankfully not yeah   yeah glad she got some sleep and is also having
a nap now so I suppose we’ll go feed her bath   her then put her to bed and hopefully she’ll
have a full night’s sleep ready for tomorrow we are starting off our day here in Tokyo at the
Starbucks Reserve which is one of six locations   in the world entering this place for the first
time is amazing its scale is unprecedented it   is absolutely huge spanning over multiple floors
there’s lots of seating throughout and you can   also watch all of the beans being roasted live
in front of you and even if you wanted to you   can buy some of the exclusive roasted blend
which they produce right there in Tokyo they   got a really good selection of different pastries
croissants cakes and biscuits so I’ve come for two   of the specials here at the Starbucks Reserve
this is one of the uh sodas looks like it’s   got a scoop of ice cream like a cold kind of
fizzy drink the other one’s like a tea based   drink oh how is it it’s nice i’m trying to do
that what are you supposed to stir in the ice   cream i don’t think you’re stirring the ice cream
oh wow that is sweet so sweet give the tea base   one a [Music] try i think it tastes salty does it
it’s got something going on there it’s different it’s also really really sweet it’s really smooth for me oh there’s like some
stuff in the outside yeah I know that’s what I’m   not quite getting that which is on the outside i
think it’s it’s a little bit salty but not like   crazy salty is the straw for your Yeah i don’t
know how you’re getting in there cuz I need to   stir it first it’s like a soda float mhm it’s
like creamy but fizzy it’s really nice i think   yours is better than my one i think you picked
right though and next up we are going to head   over and take a look at the exclusive merch which
is available here so as it’s coming up to cherry   blossom season they’ve got loads of the cherry
blossom exclusive cups and flasks really pretty   then they also just have more of the general
reserve stuff as well mugs for about £4,100 yen so   roughly around just over 20 they’ve also got beans
and chocolate we also couldn’t help ourselves but   far the punks as well we got this Tokyo Reserve
balloon here that was in orange green and pink   it’s 3,100 so that was the Starbucks reserve
here in Tokyo one of about seven in the world   it was really really big inside sort of loads and
loads of different floors um however I don’t feel   like the value of the exchange rate really
carried over in there it’s still classically   expensive like it is elsewhere in the world isn’t
it Jimmy yes to say the least yeah sort of talking   just over 2,000 yen for two drinks so a little
over £10 there along with 6,000 yen for a small   packet of beans and a mug so that’s probably
a little over 30 so quite expensive but glad   we went very different really beautiful inside
and the drinks were quite good quality although   definitely a little bit more on the sweet side now
we’re going to head over and see what’s in Donote and now it’s time for the mega [Music] donkeyotei first up is acquiring
some Kit Kats we’ve already got some sake   ones in the bar and next we’re going to go
for some of these oh god oh no there we go   some of these special ones for the cherry
blossom season which are sakura and roasted   soybean so floor two is the sweet section
so can’t miss up on this floor if you have   a sweet tooth oh more Starbucks don’t think
it’d be quite as good as the reserve place   we’ve also picked this up as well no idea
what it is and the instructions are written   in Japanese but there are some pictures
so I hope you might be able to figure it   out here’s some of the other Kit Kat flavors
so Mount Fuji which is blueberry cheesecake   matcha [Music] apple that one I have no idea what
that is please let me know in the comments if you know and then we’ve already got these cherry
blossom ones but they also have peach mochi flavor [Music] [Applause] gold not sure
what that one is oh here you go   matcha chocolate matcha [Music] latte milo
thought Milo was Australian but might be wrong   more matcha oh strawberry milk tea okay we got
to go for them only 300 yen chocolate orange   dark chocolate different oh is there a different
flavor and the last one is I have no idea what   that one is more dark chocolate maybe okay now
we got three lots of milk tea british can’t go   anywhere without getting some tea okay we
bought a very extensive collection of Kit   Kats hopefully they will all be nice apparently
that wasn’t the end of it got to get a peach as   well especially as it says it’s limited edition
this looks like E-Color in Central with these   things that you kind of add extra flavorings
and stuff to not quite sure how they work but   they look like they’re full of sugar so
up on floor four is like clothes teddies shoes Crocs section this is Georgina Titty oh
god donote Crocs she would be all over them   we’ll see how much they are there you go 2,000
yen so you really can buy anything at Donote   it was like a fabraier egg style bottle of don’t
know just says lure could be anything in there   even then that’s like 948,000 yen bottle
of Japanese whiskey and more expensive on   there 9,990 yen oh there you go nearly 2 million
yen for that one absolutely everything in here   and then right next to that Little Teddies it’s a
real eclectic mix of stuff going on in here so the   fifth floor is has all the toys luckily she’s
fallen asleep right now so she’s not going to   be asking for anything but unfortunately she’s
missing out on the fun no doubt we’ll be back   though so we’ll um let her have a another look
around next time i think maybe a little bit too   much excitement for her so far so floor 7 is then
where they’ve got all the souvenirs but also the   taxfree shopping as well and if you forget your
luggage or buy too much then you can get more   luggage here so just finished up in Donote jamie
is carrying the bag and now we’re going to try and   find a family mall in order to have some lunch
we will follow Jamie as he thinks he knows the   word today we’re going to be having a look at
Family Mart last Yesterday was 7-Eleven so see   how this one compares the onuri got similar
ones tuna mayo pock relic row interesting seaweed round meat and egg yolk
okay that one was new spicy   row mayonnaise for salmon still probably
get one of those to try out ah they’ve   also got some sandwiches can’t see
any egg salads though ah there’s one again nice one they seem
to sell out quickly gone for   some fried chicken some spicy chicken a corn dog the egg salad sandwich so compare that to
7-Eleven a teriyaki and egg sandwich that’s a   little bit different and the and the yuri
so again compare that one 7-Eleven as well   okay so we’re going to start off with chicken
first up I think this is the spicy one again   some sort of like chicken thigh I think not
too spicy so um yeah a nice a nice hint of   spice to give it some flavor but not spicy at
all lie that one was not the spicy as this one   is definitely the spicy one so hence why
the other one wasn’t too spicy spicy one   seems a lot more juicy and yeah definitely
more of a kick in this one definitely not   excessively spicy but not enough to give it a
nice flavor so third up is the corn dog and we’ll   um these sachets again um yeah the corn dog
is definitely not a winner it’s quite quite   difficult to eat that one um 7-Eleven
corn dogs were definitely a lot better family Mark corn dogs uh not for the win wouldn’t
recommend that one up next is the onuri going for   the tuna mayo again it looks thicker than that’s
a nice one i’d say it’s about on par with the   one yesterday 7-Eleven but yeah another winner
okay so now for the egg salad sandwich really   well presented again we’ll see how it compares to
7-Eleven no another good one really light really   fluffy i’d say it’s more got like the classic
flavor it’s got more of the classic flavor that I   would expect of an egg salad sandwich the 7-Eleven
one had i don’t know it’s just like an additional   taste but I think I probably prefer this one from
Family Mark and last up today is the teriyaki   chicken and egg sandwich seems to be lacking a bit
around the sides all the filling pretty much just   in the middle yeah that’s a really nice sandwich
not too much sauce so it’s not sort of falling out   um the filling kind of disperses a bit as you eat
it yeah no I’d like that one i’m definitely going   to give it a go so for the ratings of Family
Mart so we’ve put the spicy chicken as first   it’s probably best thing you had followed by I
think the egg salad sandwich and I think that was   a lot better than 7-Elevens as well the chicken
teriyaki and egg sandwich comes in on third um on   fourth is the oniri the tuna mayo uh fifth we had
the normal chicken which again was leg the chicken   and the spicy chicken one I think was more breast
it It was It was It looked like a different cut of   the chicken just felt a little bit better quality
and in last place was the corn dog that one was   really disappointing today felt like it had just
been there too long the outside was quite tough so   yeah that one is stone cold last so this one’s for
Jamie as we are at the Nintendo and then Pokemon   store but I think she’s also going to love it
so in the Nintendo store they got two gadgets   so 600 yen we got just going to jump in the queue
so in this one there’s like different controllers 500 oh yeah that one there we go
oh get it out you getting it there   you go yay come on so let’s see which
one we got how do you even open that   is the I think salad taped as well
okay okay so watch get the tape off there we go finally little face and this is
what we got some sort of like analog analog   button sure they keep a Nintendo
was chopper block but next up is Pokemon so coming in the Pokémon shop might
have been a mistake because she wants every   teddy not sure how much the bigger one was
hello but these sort of mediumsiz ones are   2,200 yen okay that’s 5,000 yeah only this one
pikachu 8,000 800 for a big one 4,000 thank you   sorry 2,000 for a small 4,000 for a medium
jamie’s also got a Squirtle at the moment   that was 2,200 here we go so we found where the
bigger ones live these four basically 5,000 yeah 4,550 got quite a few there and
now it’s the tough choice which   one which one you going to go the three
the frog the turtle or the fox that one which one all right is that the only one you want okay okay
new Pikachus with flowers in but doesn’t say how   much they are they’re very very cute though go pay
for the fox thing he must be learning she went for   the most expensive biggest one couldn’t have gone
for the cheaper 2,000 one jamie bought some cards oh it’s been a long time they weren’t   too expensive they were like
180 yen so less than a pound sparkly don’t know if it’s any good though no
idea okay interesting no idea what it is we’ll   we’ll have to look it up next we’re going to have
a look in the Capcom store don’t know a lot about   Capcom so this one should be interesting she’s
just playing with her analog button that we’ve got   what did you think of the Pokémon and Nintendo
stores like I think they were cool and stuff   like in terms of especially for like the Pokémon
with the teddies and stuff like I don’t know i   felt like they should have been it just weren’t
as big as the hype made them for me yeah they’re   quite small shops as well yeah and the same for
Nintendo like I feel like all the odd odd bits   they’re just odd crafts like they just don’t
quite match the brand for me but not Japanese   so maybe it’s Yeah the um gacha pon in there was
all right i think it was a bit overpriced maybe   if it was like 400 yen I think better i think
we also probably got the worst one in there   there was others that had like more buttons
and things but that’s all right i think you   know she’s particularly enjoying it which is the
main thing along with her Teddy which I think is   Eevee i think she got an Eevee so you know you’ll
know Danny yeah we’ll uh go and see what’s up next   before dinner from the Disney Store take a quick
look so unfortunately Disney Store doesn’t have   a lift it’s a bit of a shame they got a small area
that’s kind of downstairs these small teddies like 1,800 they get cats various
things store exclusive ones for 4,800 yen got a small gach collection anywhere
from 3 to 400 y bracelets on Cinderella Zootopia   Lion King and a claw machine store which we’re
going to give a try paw Patrol gap pawn which   looks like it needs 300 yen so need three 100 yen
coins you ready going to post it in i’m going to   do this one one coins one two i need a coin
three turn it turn it [Music] all right wait ready there you go come out [Music] oh [Music] who have you got the firefighter all firefighters no they’re not all
firefighters oh well she’s very happy   with it so I just found some more catchon
and these ones are a bit strange which is   like a piano keyboard an Uno one
not even sure what some of these   ones are just random animals and this one
that’s like cats just doing weird [Music] things go for it there okay oh come on okay can he win
[Music] Snoopy not bad [Music] no Snoopy so the only restaurant we actually
pre-booked is Momo Paradise and this is like   a all you can eat wagu beef place so we’ve
got so you kind of cook it yourself this   is Japanese beef that’s the A5 Wu we
got pot there’s some eggs over there   some more sauces or water dipping sauce
going to go for a Japanese beer as well   so I’m going to try some of the A5 first and
cook it yourself in the pot again along with   some gyozas so there’s a buffet that you
go up and get all the vegetables and things sweet potato going in some pork chai [Music]
some mushrooms this was Yes soba i think it goes in and some green onion and then we’ll let
it boil up and also noodles to go [Music] in there we go noodles and then just let
it all cook up so we just found out that   each tray was actually a tray of Wu uh not Woo
but beef so yeah there’s loads thoughts on the   beef Jamie it’s good so far yeah the one that
Yeah lot more meat left to go but um yeah so   far tasty boiling away there from the p so
additional things like gayas go off at the   buffet section and the noodles and vegetables
and you just help them then yourself them and   put them in the broth so I think we filled
up quite a lot of vegetables and noodles so far out some more of the beef oh god failing miserably there we go the beef is
bubbling away yeah great selection here tasty   so far the um white broth we definitely prefer
over the like darker soy sauce broth but to have   the two broths was an extra 220 so this time
around going heavy on the A5 simmering away in   the hot also this dipping sauce is very good it’s
just like a raw egg with some like chopped green   onions and something else is a bit chili but
goes with the beef really nicely i think we’re   probably on the final round now and the last of
the A5 decided that the darker broth is probably   better for the beef and the lighter one but the
lighter one tends to go better with the vegetables   and the noodles so um yeah I think having both is
definitely a good option it was very nice added   couches they come around with toys for the kids
she chose a dinosaur cuz she loves adults what   did you think of it Jamie really really good
really really [Music] good boiling it yourself yeah definitely [Music] yeah no definitely oh nice so she’s got
her dinosaur she’s just plastic um yeah   I like the noy of making it yourself it was
very tasty as well yeah definitely a win um   come back here again absolutely um first
of all you can eat a five i think it was   pretty pretty great so we just headed
out from dinner which was really really   nice and Japan at night has a completely
different feel it’s absolutely stunning so what were your thoughts on the first full day
here in Tokyo yeah it was really really nice we   went to Starbucks in the morning i think we went a
little bit different we didn’t go for a coffee we   went for the more like light fruity drinks really
yeah that was a nice change the specials as well   for the hopefully impending cherry blossom season
which we’re just waiting to waiting to start yeah   it was just nice walking around a little bit
and how you can go from metropolitan city to   like it feels really quiet in the sort of suburby
bit even though it’s not it’s like right in the   center of Tokyo um and then Yeah then we obviously
went to Don Kio yep and that’s an experience in   it’s absolutely massive the one here in Shaboya
but yeah definitely worth a visit I think yeah   definitely you know all the different floors and
all the different things that go on yeah lots of   snacks bought there uh to take home especially
Kit Kats yeah Kit Kats and we’ve got some other   little bits here and there and I think we went to
was it family m after that that ga pom yeah had   a go didn’t have much luck on the claw machine
maybe we can try there again tomorrow but yeah   I did the gachon and then um also headed over to
Nintendo and Pokémon store i think we got had a   bit with just choosing the more expensive soft
toy as opposed to the cheaper one but I think   she’s enjoying it so that’s all that matters yeah
she does she does really like it yeah and then um   that really really nice meal as well tonight
that was the only kind of restaurant that we   had booked beforehand but yeah that was that was
really nice yeah it was definitely having all the   different cuts of the meat and stuff ourselves
on you know unsuccessfully using chopsticks but   um yeah it was good yeah we were definitely a bit
slow um doing that but yeah really really tasty   meal um maybe it would have been better if she was
a little bit older I think yeah I think there’s   having a hot pot in the center of the table with
a kid that wants to kick the table the whole time   is not not the greatest yeah so lesson learned
there but I think just a little bit older and   it would have been even better but nevertheless
it was um it was still really nice really tasty   food and just had that that cheesecake which
was again really really nice and um yeah that’s   the end of the first day here another full
day in Tokyo again tomorrow indeed and then   heading off to the Disneyland Hotel tomorrow
evening which will be um something new for us okay starting off with a trip over to Yi Park
unfortunately the cherry blossoms not quite   out just yet you can see it’s starting to bud
i imagine that this walkway would be beautiful   once it’s out in full force [Music] the Yoji
Park is really very beautiful nice and quiet   and also massive sort of big open space in
amongst all of the sort of big skyscrapers   and buildings which is really nice but if
you’re looking to go to Miji Shrine I don’t   think you can get there through Yoshi Park at
least we haven’t figured it out so we’re going   to head back out and then walk up the main road a
little bit further before uh trying to enter that [Music] way we’re just here at the Niji Shrine
area and quite interested to see what it looks   like when we get a little bit further down
but the initial gate as you walk in was   absolutely massive so just walking past the
wall complete with the many many barrels of sake and not sure what they’re barrels of
on the other side there’s some barrels of   something else here as well let’s head on
down further there’s a another one of the   massive gates there’s a small area before you
enter and we’ll just kind of rinse your hands   and your mouth we’re going to head on [Music]
in so we’ve now come over into the main hall   area which is really really beautiful and the
sun has just come out as well we just written a   message and then put some money in the envelope
we’re going to post it in so we’re going to let   her post in the box drop it in okay that was
a bit of a fail with her posting it and just   over to the side you got some places where
you can buy I think they’re amulets [Music] so what did you think of the Miji Shrine very
tranquil as it’s supposed to be I guess and it was   um quite busy m very busy but it’s quite nice
most people respect it all yeah it’s a nice   walk-in quite far but um yeah very beautiful
there quite big as well i wasn’t expecting   it to be so big yeah it’s nice and you can’t
believe you’re in the middle of massive city   without being Tokyo that quiet no definitely
highly recommend a visit there for [Music] sure now come down to Tekashita Street i
think there’s loads of different types of   food along here so we’re going to see what we
can find so it doesn’t just seem to be food   but it also seems to be like young hipster
style clothing as well vibes are definitely   happening down here they got like music just
blasting all throughout the street this is a   real eclectic mix of different stuff there’s
loads of like different kinds of cafes where   they have pets just walked past a place that
had utters another one that had little dogs   piggies this place here you can have lunch
with the pigs and also micro pigs cafe it’s   very very different it’s a strawberry tiger
and they do the strawberries dipped in the sugar secured the strawberries with the
sugar do you want to go first so 72 yen quite expensive what do you think a lot of sugar lot of
sugar oh w contrast in texture like really crunchy   and then like really soft it’s really like glassy
as well the sugar on the outside see it up ahead   the rainbow grilled cheese which is absolutely
on our list to try let’s see how much this is   so the rainbow grilled cheese is a,000 yen and you
have to go in and order it from the machine which   sort of struggled with initially but it seems
like quite a good efficient system jamie’s doing   the cheese pull for the rainbow sandwich is,000
yen oh it’s not bad not bad what do you think   interesting let’s see what it tastes like let’s
give it a go how is it okay good yeah it’s good   interesting it doesn’t really taste much different
to like normal grilled cheese um yeah it’s nice   i thought it would taste like quite artificial
but it doesn’t so I think that’s a good thing tastes like a cheese toast pretty much
okay so we’ve gone for a 10 yen but a   different one from this shop just next
to the rainbow grilled cheese so it’s   not a cheese one this is a chocolate
whipped cream and strawberry with the   tany bread so bit different we’ll
give it a go oh it’s really cold expect how cold it was but yeah really really nice
otherwise so what are your thoughts i don’t know   just a lot of whatever this thing is made out
of I’m guessing a lot of like the bread yeah   I’m just tasting a lot of bread i think we need
to try a cheese one at some point as well coming   to Capsule Lab and there is so many ga poms which
she’s already asked for today but unfortunately   she’s asleep right now but we’ll um come back to
another one later so she can get something found   the stranger scatrapon it’s a bike uh so a bike
bell on a ring for 300 yen that is just very very random there’s also this Ultra Man little things
of like work wear and work stuff so what your   thoughts on taco yashi that’s how you say it
street it’s a a random assortment of different   shops i think like food and then like odd bits
here and clothing and the the usual sort of   tourist attraction sort of shops the strangest
ones is definitely the cafes of all the animals   for sure yeah yeah i mean it’s quite a common
place out here but yeah it’s not really a   thing to think about back home no definitely not
that many in in one space uh the grilled cheese   was all right um yeah it was nice i think
the 10 yen might be better with the cheese   but we thought we’d give it a different different
flavor just in case just had cheese yeah I think   avoided the sweet ones but we’ll uh definitely try
a cheese one but yeah real mix going on here but   we’re now going to head over to the like cafe
latte foam art place that’s just over from the   street and hopefully have a nice coffee fingers
crossed so this is the cafe that we’re going to   be checking out it’s called Resu uh and they do
latte art here so I’ve just got mine i went for   the raspberry latte so a little bit different
and this is the doggy one with the 3D art it’s   really really clever how they do it it looks looks
amazing i’ll show you Jamie’s when his comes cuz   they seem to come out separately yeah look at it
look at it little face that’s um definitely worth   the 1,500 yen have you gone for Jamie pikachu
pikachu look at I think yours is actually better   than mine give it a spin for us that is very very
cute the Pikachu and you went for a vanilla latte   didn’t you that is a very very cute Pikachu
so 3D Pikachu and 3D doggy taste test [Music] oh look at that trying to avoid Pikachu okay enough of the raspberry latte mommy yeah that’s a really strong raspberry flavor
it’s really nice ham and cheese go with it i   think that was about 950 yen jamie’s Pikachu is
caving in slowly unfortunately he’s lost an ear   my dog sort of slowly descending into the cup
as well that was Cafe Rizzu that was quite nice   there actually yeah it was a nice atmosphere up
there the the designs on the coffees were really   really good I know we went for the ones that they
do all the time but it’s a bit of art to it and a   bit of fun really so yeah and the girls in there
were really nice who were serving us and yeah   we went for the box standard ones but there was
people in there sort of getting custom designed   ones as well which maybe if you’re a bit more
prepared with the photo we could have done but   nevertheless it was really good the grilled
cheese as well was quite big and roasting hot   yeah it was a bit of a unique flavor I think had
potato in it but was also really tasty so yeah   definitely would um suggest going there for
sure Yes yes definitely book in advance book   in advance yeah we got there luckily the wait
wasn’t too bad we like an hour yeah we came   back in an hour but yeah if you can definitely
do pre-book we found our first cherry blossom   tree that’s out in bloom everyone’s here trying
to get a photo with it as it’s pretty much the   only one around that has any cherry blossom on
it hopefully the rest will be out full force soon oh so now it’s time for more gadget
on slash machines actually Jen’s   going teddy bear hopefully do better
than me he did absolutely terribly oh   he’s going right to the back okay
no these ones are terrible these monkey [Applause] go at the back what do we think yeah little
bit more yeah okay let’s go surely surely probably our last one then we’re going to find   some gatchable balls going for some I
think it’s Pokémon is it Pokémon Jam oh it’s too cold no did terrible lined it up badly okay so back at   a different Paw Patrol one one
two three turn it this way other way so you push it out and get [Music] out grab it there you go so open it up for her ah it’s Sky this time oh it’s Sky so Jamie’s   going for Tinker Bell oh no
he’s messed it up already he’s going further back i reckon from the back and flip it back
so I reckon back and just along you need   to angle it cuz it won’t go in mommy so let’s
go she needs a twisted [Music] you put two in yeah put them in it’s not registered you go in too quick yeah no
I put them in too quickly no I put them in hi   i’ve put the coins in but it hasn’t activated
[Music] oh that’s why thank you there you go   there we go lovely thank you oh there we go
oh I want to go back further i don’t think so oh no see I knew that was going to happen and you
said from the front oh well i don’t think okay so   for dinner we’ve come to Sushi World today hoping
this is the language button i don’t think that is   the language button right should I press that one
oh god no i don’t know what that’s what I just pressed try this one there we go there we go push them around
and others so English okay so for the Bubba   we gone for fried chicken and fries cuz that
should eat sushi um then for us let’s go for nibri there’s lots of options but
it all says in English what it is tuna eggs salmon lots of different options
for some tempura shrimp they also do it with   cheese as well they do mini fried shrimp sushi
let’s give that one and then here we go meat egg   and others get a Japanese egg omelette one another
one that’s taken from the seat is teriyaki chicken okay apparently you can’t order more
than five things at once yeah do that   um okay so we’ll check out that i mean
do you know why they’re now only doing   the express lane and they don’t have the
sushi coming around on the conveyor anymore no so there was this thing called sushi terrorism
i think it was back in 2023 i’m not sure it was   a few years ago where in these kind of sushi
restaurants people were messing with the food   essentially on the conveyor belts and so a lot
of the big chains stopped doing it like that and   moved to like the direct order only so which is
a bit of a shame cuz it would have been nice to   see everything go by on the lower down conveyor
but now it just comes along on the top conveyor   instead just having a look around the table we’ve
got your chopsticks got your green tea over there   got water oh look that’s quick oh there’s our
egg sushi hell and you got your sauces here as   well it’s nice you get a little notification pop
up when it’s ready jamie’s going to do the drinks what should we go with yeah go russia   get you yeah two drops any other
interesting drinks sour whiskey soda soft drinks as well white water yeah i don’t know   what that white water is probably
need to Google that that in i’m guessing that one oh okay with the egg
you put any sauce on yours i’ll try this   i’m going to go for some soy sauce on my
one oh you’ve already mulled that jamie’s   just miserably failing all egg no oh god
okay it’s It’s harder than than it [Music] looks it’s cold i wasn’t expecting it to be cold it is really nice it’s really um creamy really creamy that’s a winner expecting that but even
the beers come on uhhuh chicken and chips that’s   quite a good size for a total it also smells
really really good jamie couldn’t wait for his   but this is the tempura one which he claims is
really really good like the one before is the   mini shrimp this one is the tempura which
is even bigger and looks even better time   for some more real this is more real sushi
this is like tuna mayo this time around so   um Oh and there’s the cucumber rolls it
was really slow to start with but now   it’s like plowing through see what
you think of the tuna mayo jamie good jamie’s just about to try cucumber
but I couldn’t resist it cuz it was just   so different i got one of the hamburger
ones as well i think the classic cucumber   yeah it’s really nice in the um sweet and
soy yeah that is one of the best sauces   they’ve got like some massive omelette
liquid tomato ketchup which looks a bit odd on top jamie’s Miller a little bit it’s a bit
different from the Japanese omelette though it’s   more of a British or American one it’s so hard
to leave i don’t think it is i think it’s just us   and I want to try some real
sushi I suppose so this is the tuna very [Music] nice good this is a quailway and
I have no idea what that is it might be   like corn i think it’s corn yeah it’s a bit of
sweet corn it didn’t translate very well on the   um thing but these are mini eggs
and sweet corn obviously like deep   fried everything’s better with
some soy sauce i’ve discovered is it finished burning your mouth quite
a nice texture and like different flavor   this is really nice it’s burny obviously just
been down but yeah no it’s really good this is   pumpkin tempura which currently on the list of
some of the more order things here so give this   a go i think just the fact it’s deep fried
in tempura is what makes it brilliant one   is some teriyaki chicken i feel like it probably
doesn’t need any soy sauce kind of already comes with so more proper sushi this one is the tuna and
this one is seabbream I think seab bream I think   no it’s red bream or something jamie is going not
even any soy sauce on it how is it loads of flavor try try the the other tuna this is a lesser
cut of tuna the other one was more expensive can you tell would you know so we’re just going to go for dessert
[Music] now selection classic puddings   like mini grapes strawberry mug blog
white chocolate mousse chocolate cake   um peach sorbet melon sorbet vanilla ice cream claire’s a hat maybe we might have to go for a
couple i think I like that one go for that one   and we’ll get the baby she’ll probably eat vanilla
ice cream or pinch peach sorbet what should we get   those it’s like something vanilla i can’t try
peach smell okay you get whatever you want but   these are the desserts we’ve gone for this is the
ice cream go for the bubba sorbet which is somehow   I went for the like crepe thing and Jamie’s gone
for like strawberry mule creps oh that’s wise   you’ve gone for the creps but with like strawberry
and cream as well that’s why so how are the creps jamie are good   i’m just going to try some of the peach sorbet
which comes in a very cute pot yeah that’s really   good the um sorbet is very refreshing that’s nice
how’s the ice cream that goes with your crabs what have been your thoughts on the sushi roll it
was different it’s definitely my favorite out of   the two meals we’ve had so far yeah I think so and
it’s the cheap probably a cheaper one probably a   cheaper one but it just it was nice you know you
got all exactly what you wanted it’s relatively   good for money yeah i can’t complain there’s
nothing really wrong with it really was it   yeah it was good quality i think everything we had
was really nice we had quite a lot of the cooked   stuff as opposed to the raw sushi we had a bit
of tuna a bit of the seabream i think the tempura   was probably my favorite yeah that the tuna tuna
was very good yeah at the gunk or whatever it’s   called yeah yeah um that was really nice yeah the
hamburger is just a hamburger ride that was just   a bit of fun yeah nice yeah and the desserts
were nice um yeah I can’t complain i think my   top tip here would be to pre-book beforehand so
we had to do that by downloading the Taiwanese   app Sushi Roll uh cuz you couldn’t get the Japan
one for some reason in the UK and then once we   had the app I could then convert it into English
and book online using that otherwise there can be   quite a long queue if you just kind of arrive
here and get a ticket number that would be my   top tip um some people say try the Singaporean
app however I couldn’t get that one to work i   could only view the sushima restaurants that were
there in Singapore so my advice would be to get   the Taiwanese app it’s nothing like a little
after dinner ga so we’re going to do the Paw   Patrol one there it is oh that’s quite a big one
pass it to daddy jamie’s opening it but it looks   like I think we might have another Sky this one
press it in michelle I think she really like that   one that’s a good one okay we’re now heading
back to the hotel to pick up the bags because   we got a taxi over to the Disneyland Hotel which
will be next week’s video so what do you think   of our second day in Tokyo Jamie it’s his own
city it’s very unique you know and I’ve enjoyed   it yeah it’s really I would love to come back to
one day absolutely the um sort of did more of the   cultural stuff this morning that was nice with the
park and the shrine that was really peaceful over   there very much enjoyed that and then obviously
this afternoon headed over to the more modern side   the taken not sure how to pronounce it uh street
had some of the more viable foods that we’ve seen   online there with the grilled cheese sandwich
that was uh quite nice the strawberries which   are definitely one to try as well and then sushi
roll for dinner this evening which was definitely   worth checking out come to just under £7,000 yen
in the end so I think definitely worth it so about   about around the £40 mark but um definitely
definitely would go back there again highly   recommend that um yeah overall great day very
much looking forward to Tokyo Disneyland tomorrow   so please subscribe uh if you’d be interested in
watching that till next time bye-bye bye [Music]

We are a family of 3 from the UK going to Japan for the very first time. In this video we will show you how we spent 2 and a half days exploring all that Tokyo has to offer. Including iconic viral eats, convenience store food, one of a kind stores, and beautiful shrines. This was a jam packed couple of days that plunged us straight into the culture shock of Japan.

We started off our time in Tokyo Japan by going to a convenience store and Don Quijote before finishing up the day by going to McDonalds in Japan for the first time.

Our next day started off with a trip to the Tokyo Starbucks Reserve, followed by visiting Tokyo’s most iconic stores including the Pokémon store, Nintendo Store and Don Quijote. We then finished up the day by going for an all you can eat A5 Wagu beef dinner.

Our last day in Japan started off with a trip to Meiji shrine followed by trying the best viral food on Takeshita Street. We then headed over to a nearby café to try a viral latte art coffee shop which was amazing. We then headed over to Japan’s number 1 sushi restaurant Sushiro, which is a must try on any visit to Japan.

Along the way we also have lots of fun by going to our first Gacha store and play lots of claw machine games.

We had a great time in Tokyo Japan for the first time. Please subscribe to catch the rest of our journey through this Japan.
