3rd May 2025 – (Hong Kong) As the May Day Golden Week enters its third day, numerous mainland tourists have visited Hong Kong. Seeking to experience the local history and culture, certain community sites have emerged as popular alternatives for social media users, including Tai Wai Village, which has been affectionately referred to as “Hong Kong’s Little Kyoto.”
Recently, the village, located in Sha Tin and boasting over 400 years of history, has gained recognition on the social media platform Xiaohongshu as a must-visit spot for capturing memorable photos. Visitors have been drawn to its narrow streets and charming shops, particularly around a sign that marks the village.
The village’s atmosphere has been described as “quite charming” and filled with a sense of everyday life, making it a delightful experience for those exploring the area. Many visitors appreciate the unique character of Tai Wai Village, noting that it retains its own charm without needing to resemble other places.
Local shop employees have observed a steady stream of mainland tourists taking photos at the village’s sign, with peak times during the holiday seeing queues of about ten people waiting to capture their moments. However, some restaurant staff noted that the influx of tourists has not significantly boosted their business over the past two days.
