I don’t know how I feel about Kyoto in cherry blossom season…. It may have ruined Japan for us…. Can anywhere else be as beautiful?

Kyoto during peak cherry blossom season is pure magic. The ancient capital comes alive in pink and white, with every temple, street, and park glowing under a canopy of sakura. On our journey, we explored the beautiful Ginkaku-ji and Nanzen-ji temples at either end of the Philosopher’s Path, strolling beneath falling petals along the canal. Fushimi Inari Shrine was as stunning as ever—but busy busy, with streams of visitors flowing through its iconic red torii gates. Kyoto’s peaceful backstreets revealed a quieter side of the city most visitors never see.
We wandered through the historic Gion district in search of geisha glimpses, got lost in temple courtyards surrounded by blossoms, and browsed local treasures at a traditional flea market. One highlight? The brand-new Nintendo Museum—an absolute must for fans of gaming and nostalgia. From the buzzing cultural sites to moments of stillness among ancient stone lanterns, this trip was a dream.
If you’ve ever wanted to visit Kyoto during cherry blossom season, this video captures it at its very best. Whether you’re planning your own spring trip or just want to experience the beauty and culture from afar, come walk with us through Kyoto’s most iconic (and hidden) spots.
