A Snowy Winter Walk to A Unique Temple | Sendai Day Trip Small Town
Yamadera Temple (Risshakuji) is unique as it is located in the mountains and very easily accessible from Sendai. It is a short walk from Yamadera station where you will likely stop if coming from Sendai.
I visited Yamadera Temple at the end of February and the weather was somewhat mild, although there was a nice amount of snow on the ground and path to the top of the temple. However, the steps were well-maintained. If you plan on visiting this temple, you should definitely wear comfortable waterproof hiking boots/shoes, as it can be slippery, especially on top.
The view of the valley from the top was amazing. I can imagine how beautiful it was be during the summer and fall seasons.
I hope you enjoyed this video!
