India’s participation at the World Expo 2025 in Japan is poised to boost tourism and trade with the India Pavilion presenting a vibrant display of the nation’s cultural heritage and economic progress.

The six-month-long global exposition, which commenced on April 13, is expected to attract millions of visitors. In preparation, the Indian government had allocated ₹400 crore in 2024 to support the country’s presence at the international event.

“I am confident this expo will provide a big boost to trade and tourism in India and further cement our role as the world’s trusted partner!,” Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated in a post on X.

India’s participation follows its successful involvement in Expo 2020 Dubai and continues the tradition of showcasing national achievements at these prestigious global platforms.

World Expos are large-scale international exhibitions that serve as a forum for nations to present innovations and engage in dialogue on pressing global issues. The tradition began with the Great Exhibition in London in 1851 and has introduced groundbreaking technologies such as the telephone and microwave to the world stage.

A major attraction at the India Pavilion has been the display of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, highlighting the successful landing at the moon’s south pole and underscoring India’s growing expertise in space exploration.
