Many tourists drive all the way from Bangkok just to come here. There is a unique floating island scenic seafood restaurant on the dock, said to have delicious food. The two-story ferry transports residents and tourists to and from Xichang Island every day. The Gulf of Bangkok where the ferry sails is an inner bay, so the sea is calm, and the boat moves smoothly. You basically don’t have to worry about seasickness. Enjoy the sea breeze, watching cruise ships and fishing boats pass by, and you’ll arrive at Xichang Island quickly. Next to the dock, there is a building that looks like a lighthouse, but it’s actually a traditional Chinese pavilion. It feels like something out of a video game. Or the scenes from xianxia dramas Xichang Island Koh Sichang Although Xichang Island is not very big, the attractions on the island are spread out, so it’s not suitable for walking tours. The most time and energy-saving way is to rent a tricycle around the island directly from the dock. 500 THB per day, it will take you to all the famous attractions on Xichang Island. Near the dock is the only 7-11 in the whole island, where you can replenish some supplies. Today’s guide is this middle-aged man with number 99. Although the guide doesn’t speak English, there is some communication barrier, but the relaxed and enthusiastic nature of Thais also brings more surprises to today’s trip. The first attraction is the Buddha’s Footprint on the mountain top. The slope of the mountain is so steep that I once thought the tricycle would break down. Luckily, everything turned out fine in the end. The car was parked not far from the mountain top. It didn’t take much physical effort to reach the summit. The younger brother of King Rama V of Thailand brought a replica of the Buddha’s footprint from the place where Buddhism originated. He placed it on the mountain top in the north of Sichang Island. Near the fishing village, making it convenient for believers to come and pay their respects. Buddha’s Footprint From here, you can also enjoy the beautiful view of the entire Sichang Island. There is also a large pile of stones at the summit, which looks like a Mani pile from Tibetan Buddhism. A reservoir is being built at the foot of the mountain to store fresh water for the entire island’s residents. Descending from the mountain brings you to the second attraction, the Stone Head Temple. Stone Head Temple – Chao Por Khao Yai Shrine According to legend, when Zheng He was on his voyage to the Western Ocean, he passed through the sea near Sichang Island The crew saw a white light and were guided to the shore They found a glowing cave on the mountain It turned out to be a stone wall reflecting the moonlight and emitting white light The crew was grateful for the help of the stone figure and built a temple here to worship it The temple has steps leading up to it next to the steps there is also a small cable car used to transport goods and tourists Inside the temple, there are statues of Guanyin of the South Sea and Mazu as well as the Eight Immortals attracting many Chinese people from Malaysia and Singapore to come here to worship On the ferry they had taken before many passengers were carrying large and small packages of offerings they had come especially for this place Inside the cave on the mountain top, the stone figure of Ben Tou Gong is covered with a lot of gold leaf showing how popular it is. There is also a Chinese-speaking reception for Chinese believers. It is relatively rare that this place also enshrines the Monkey King Sun Wukong. Like the previous Buddha’s footprint attraction, you can also have a panoramic view of Xichang Island here. After visiting, it’s already lunchtime. I used Google Maps to find a small restaurant with good reviews. You can have the private car driver take you directly there. The restaurant is located in a small alley near the dock. Have some local seafood set meals. The prices are cheap. The seafood is also fresh. However, the prawns were not fresh. They must be dried shrimp rehydrated in water. The next attraction is located on the back side of the island, with cliffs and blue sea water. A cement-built scenic bridge extends all the way to the cliff by the coast. It’s very suitable for taking photos. Vashiravut Bridge The stones by the water are very smooth Walking on them requires caution This is a lesson I learned after paying with blood There are many abandoned buildings beside the bridge They might have been built for the tourism development of Hainan Island in the past But they were halted for some unknown reasons Phra Chudadhut Palace Love Bridge was built by King Rama V It’s a long bridge extending from the shore into the sea Because the residents of Hainan Island often got cut by shells when the tide came and went King Rama V built this Love Bridge Asadang Bridge Love Bridge is part of the Phra Chudadhut Palace area Phra Chudadhut Palace was once a summer palace for the Thai king It is considered the largest attraction on the island Green wooden houses They were once guesthouses where King Rama V received foreign guests Now they are a coffee shop Buy a cup of coffee and take some photos You can spend the whole afternoon here Besides the royal buildings by the sea there is also a temple on the mountain top This time we didn’t have enough time to go up Statues of King Rama V and his third son Laem Chakraphong is a cliff extending into the sea The sea waves hit the rocks creating a natural cave You can follow a small path down to the cave by the sea The road is rough It’s not recommended to come down if you have mobility issues Many people take photos here When it’s crowded, you might have to wait for a long time In fact, the scenery here isn’t that impressive If you’re not here just for photos you can cancel this part of the trip and spend more time at the previous Pat Jada House Not far from the cliff is Sichang the largest beach on the island Luoxue Beach The seawater is clear But the sand is average There are lounge chairs available for rent You can also join in banana boat rides Kayaking, snorkeling and other water sports There are restaurants by the beach Enjoying a seafood feast while watching the sunset It’s the perfect ending to a day trip to Xichang Island Ko Loi Island – –

大巴轉輪渡，只需要兩個多小時的時間就能到達。包輛三輪車可以遊玩所有景點。除了海島標配的沙灘海浪仙人掌，這裡還有舊時的皇家行宮，吸引周邊國家華人跋山涉水來祭拜的廟宇，新鮮、價格低廉的海產。唯一的遺憾是，為什麼沒有多住一天？
