I Tried to Buy a Bicycle in Ishigaki

Guys, here is the thing. I am on the island of Ishigaki in Japan. One of the most remote places in Japan. And I looked on the map and noticed one what looks like an interesting place. A super narrow place. I want to get there, but I don’t know how. I am thinking of a vehicle similar to these two, but maybe not as rusty. Let’s go look and maybe find a place where we can get one. I don’t know. Maybe rent one. Only I’m not sure if we can find something here in this super. Look this super beautiful but also super quiet part of Ishigaki. I’m away from the city in the residential area, but I think I saw one rental place or yeah, a bicycle would be the best thing. Maybe this was the place. Not sure. Maybe a bit further. This is a the main road here. Yes, I did say that it’s possible also here to walk also all around the island, but I’m not really into that today. Maybe this is the shop they Yeah, I think so. Looks like Can we rent something here? Or or or doesn’t look very new. Huh? The small ones foldable six times. Is it price? Oh, it’s 32 35. Ah, these are new bicycles. I want to buy a bicycle. It can be used. We couldn’t understand each other. Uh, but from what I understood, the man wasn’t selling or maybe he didn’t have a bicycle that he thought would fix fit me. Let’s go. He said go to Donkey Hot. I think at Donkey Hot it’s worth trying, but I think they are going to be more expensive that I than I want to pay. Well, okay. Let’s go. Let’s see. I know that on Amazon you can get bicycle for like 15,000 or 12,000. Maybe there is something even cheaper at Donkey. Let’s see. I think I know where they have bicycles here. Somewhere at the furthest. [Music] But I’m skeptical. I’m skeptical that we find something as cheap as I want to spend right now. Definitely not more than 12 14,000. Oh yeah, they have 5900. So almost 7.5 22,000 30,000 this actually look very nice the yellow ones and green homer 28,000 I can see going on one like this but not for 17,000 for a single time. Let’s go and look for something else. Let’s try to Google bicycle rental used bike used bikes on Ishigaki. How much does a bicycle cost? €8,000 50. Oh no, it’s it’s a car. It’s a car. I thought it’s way too expensive for a bicycle if you can buy one for 15. So, I’m going home defeated and with no plan what to do about the vehicle. And this lady tells me, “Let’s go to that donkey hotel and buy that bicycle. Let’s go. Let’s go back to the donkey hut shop. And let’s go and cycle to that place, that interesting looking place in the far corner of Ishigaki. Donkeyot second try. Are we getting also something for you? Uh yeah, of course. So two vehicles. I really like [Music] Hummer 26. Not sure if I have to pay the tax. Maybe I can get ducks free as a tourist. 26 or 28? No. This. No. This. No. What is this? How much is this one? No idea. 30,000 22. Oh, looks beautiful. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Okay. Happy days. It wasn’t didn’t go exactly as planned because we ended up paying more than we were planning. Oh, is okay. Uh-huh. Maybe 20,000 extra. But now we have bicycles. And now we can finally go go to that place. 12 seconds later and we are back. Back at the starting point. Why? Because mine was broken. We we we got a new one. We exchanged. Yeah, that’s it. Let’s go now. Only 2 hours. So, searching for the solution and here we go. Don’t know what we are doing with these bikes later. I don’t know, maybe taking to Thailand. My one minute research that I did shows that yeah, we can take those on the airplane. We have three flights the next month and we can apparently take them for no extra fee. Let’s see. Let’s see where this cycling adventure takes us. But for now, let’s just cycle to that other corner of [Music] Ishiaki. Is it good or not? Yeah. No, it’s good. Now it’s good. The new bike is good. 5 minutes in. Okay, 10 minutes in. The mountains, the hills, not easy. Show this to a Latia and then they’ll be like, “Huh? Are you really in Japan?” because it does look like Latia except for maybe the palms that you see once in a while. Let’s wait for Una and let’s check the map. Oh, I see that. Look part could be looks amazing. I hope we are going in that direction. Looks amazing. So yes, we are going on this road. So amazing. So amazing. Have a sip of some liquid with this nice view. I wanted to say of a rice field, but then I don’t think this is this is rice. That’s nice. Green green and beautiful. And the weather couldn’t have been better. I hope for a beautiful view also at destination that super narrow part of Ishigaki Island. Maybe we can see the sea from some point like on both sides. Let’s go and see if we see the sea. Ho ho ho. Oh, we are approaching the airport, I guess, because I see another airplane. I see Mr. Birdie. The Ishikaki birdie. Yeah, we are at the airport and cycling further on the beautiful yellow like nothing else Hummer and the black sins. What do you do if you are in rural Japan and if you want to have a drink, you stop by one of those amazing machines and get yourself a drink. So, what we are getting? I see lots of tea options. Miracle body. Miracle body. So, 130 yen and you’ll have a miracle body. What else? Green tea. Maro yaka strawberry milk. No, no, not getting a milk. Coffee. Maybe some electrolyte drink or they don’t have here. Oh, postonic water. Let’s go for postonic water. You throw in the money, 130 yen, press the button, and hope that something comes out here. Nothing. Oh, still missing. Not enough money. Yeah. Ah, so try again. Yes. Postonic water on the side of the road in Japan. This is what it’s like if you are living in a countryside in Japan. If you are from Japan watching this video, let me tell you this. If you go to my country, if you go to Latvia, don’t expect conveniences like this. You’ll be happy to find a I don’t know, a shop, but not as frequently as those machines. Look across the road. I see. I just noticed another one. Hm. I guess that’s because there’s a bus stop, so you can come wait for the bus and have a drink. So good. But we also filled up our water water bottles at the airport just in the bathroom like from a tap. And uh tap water is drinkable in Japan which is really cool. [Music] You just look at this. Look at what I noticed on the side of the road here. A beautiful Japanese statue. Beautiful marmite. So this is a this is a toilet. Yep. If you are from Japan, don’t expect also toilets like this. Don’t expect toilets at all. We don’t go to toilet in in Latvia. That’s the feeling you may be getting because you don’t see them anywhere. The journey continues. It’s very interesting when you are not taking a car or a bus but walking or cycling. You see a completely different scene. The toilet architecture here is on a completely different level. I have stopped again because I think I noticed a beautiful toilet next to this hill. Maybe there’s a temple on top of it. But here, huh? This Wow. Yeah. This is a Japanese. Is this this concrete? Huh? Nice. And this is Let’s read Italy. Both Italy in the village. take me to popular places where you have to stand in a line for two hours just to get in or do something or an hour to take a photo and I’ll be a I’m tired of this But uh give me a beautiful yellow Hummer and an island to explore and I can go on and on and on. Are you thinking of going in? No, just can go on and on and on until I’m tired. But definitely for a much longer time because this is what I really like going to places where I want to go. Not just because someone said that I need to go there. I like to find my own places. Slowly, slowly getting there. Also, look at this building. Santorini style Japanese building. Somewhere ahead of us is some viewpoint. Maybe with that view that I’m expecting where you can see to the both sides. We’ll see. Wow. Another mountain. 2 point something kilometers. Like Google Maps said almost flat. Almost. Oh, okay. View point. Beautiful palm. Not palm. Beautiful tree. Let’s look at the view and then proceed maybe even further. Look at this view. I think it’s possible also to go there. I think I saw that building. Wa wa wa wa. Sandy beaches there. The ones in the town are rocky. I think that’s the place probably. There is the sea on the other side. Beautiful. Let’s go to that place and see there. Nice, nice, nice, nice weather. Nice view to the other side where we came from. You have never seen a site like this. I have never seen a stuff like this [Applause] until we get to the beach. Ah, I think we can get to the beach here. Let’s try. This is the place, the most narrow part of the island. We did see the view that I was interested in already from the viewpoint. We definitely wouldn’t be able to get it from the road if we didn’t go to the viewpoint. Oh, wow. So, so beautiful. Wow. No people. Wow. No people. Look at the water. Look at the color of the water here. It’s a bit low tide, but not low flow. I guess this would be high tide. Water would be up there. Now it’s like this. Wow. Wow. Unbelievable. That’s it for the day. See you soon. See you soon. Still from Ishigaki, Japan. See you. [Music]
