exploring fukuoka in 4 days (summer season) 🇯🇵
Please turn on “CC” for the subtitles. On our way to the airport I have finally arrived at the airport and completed the check-in process. We were able to secure our flight tickets for PHP 5,891.05 (per pax) during Cebu Pacific’s seat sale. Baggage allowance, seats, and meals were not included yet. The flight time is over four hours. We landed safely before 19:00 (GMT+9). Hello, Fukuoka! We’re currently at Tenjin-minami, the station closest to our hotel. Our hotel is a 7-minute walk from this spot. As soon as we dropped our luggage at our hotel, we went straight to this yatai stall. We ordered hakata-style ramen for 900 yen. The ramen is reasonably acceptable for its price. No cap! That’s it for our first day.See you tomorrow! We’re going to start the day with a quick gym workout. The gym is about 10-minute walk from our hotel. We’re now here at Anytime Fitness Fukuoka Imaizumi. It’s back day today. Luckily, they have complete machines for back workouts. We’re done with the gym. I was able to do my back workout smoothly. We’re now going back to the hotel to freshen up. We are currently at Nishtetsu Fukuoka Tenjin Station. We’ll be exploring the Dazaifu area. Specifically, the Dazaifu Tenmangu. The travel time will be approximately 30-40 minutes. We opted for a “DIY” tour because we could easily get to the shrine via train. Additionally, the shrine provides free admission. And now we have arrived at Dazaifu Station. The entrance to Dazaifu Tenmangu is a 5-minute walk from the train station. As we approached the shrine’s entrance, we stopped by the Starbucks Dazaifu branch for some refreshments. World-renowned architect Kengo Kuma designed this Starbucks branch, which stands out for its interior of woven cedar sticks. Got our drinks We are now crossing the main torii, which serves as the entryway to the temple grounds. As we reach the main temple, we shall first cross three bridges at Shinji-ike Pond. The three bridges, which are also known as the three vermillion bridges, symbolize the past, the present, and the future. In Shinto, the water in the pond represents purity and purification. The ancient moss-covered camphor trees create a truly captivating scenery. We’ve arrived at the spiritual core of Dazaifu Tenmangu, the honden. This is a temporary hall. The main hall is being renovated for Sugawara’s 1,125th anniversary, which will be in 2027. What truly impresses me is the sloped garden roof design, which complements the shrine’s surroundings. Before returning to the station, we visited the Studio Ghibli Store. The items in this store are all very cutesy. I wish I could buy all of this stuff and bring it back home. I bought a wallet and tote bag with Kiki’s Delivery Service design. Back at Tenjin for an early dinner. This is Tenjin Yatai Naka-chan. We ordered the pork belly iron plate and fried rice. The food we got left us feeling full and satisfied. Many thanks to the owner of this Yatai stall and his team for providing exceptional service. We will definitely come back. After our early dinner, we went to Canal City Hakata Mall. We went right to the Bandai Namco Cross Store to get some gachapon. However, the large variety of gachapon in this store overwhelmed me, so I only got three. We are currently on our way to Ichiran’s headquarters for our last stop today. We decided to explore Nakasu Island while waiting for the food to settle in our stomachs. These are the Yatai stalls found on Nakasu Island. We’ll try one tomorrow. We’re now at the Ichiran’s headquarters. Fortunately, we didn’t have to wait too long. Soon after, we were taken to our seats. We ordered the standard tonkatsu ramen for 980 yen. In my opinion, the Ichiran in Fukuoka tastes significantly better than the ones in Tsim Sha Tsui and Central in Hong Kong, as well as Shibuya in Tokyo. I’m really loving the mood here in Fukuoka so far. Slow-paced and very relaxing. That concludes our second day. Night-night! Today is our last full day. First things first: grab brunch at one of the nearby cafés. We spotted this Melbourne-style café. This is NOOICE. We got our iced café latte and iced macadamia nut latte first. Here’s our main entrée Overall, we very much enjoyed our meals at Nooice. Plus, their staff is very friendly and speaks English fluently. We are currently on our way to Momochi Seaside Park and the Fukuoka Tower. It is a 30-minute bus ride from Tenjin and costs about 260 yen. We have finally reached our destination. We are going to take a walk in Momochi Seaside Park first before going to the Fukuoka Tower. Momochi Seaside Park is a man-made beach situated behind Fukuoka Tower. We’re just going to spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach. We are currently inside the Fukuoka Tower. Tickets cost 800 yen each. By the way, this building is 234 meters tall. It is also widely recognized as Japan’s finest coastline tower. and has a three viewing decks. We are currently on the third floor of the observation deck, which is 123 meters above ground. This floor provides a 360-degree panoramic view of the Fukuoka cityscape. It is indeed “where the sea and sky meet.” After a while, we went to the second floor to have some afternoon snacks at their sky café. We also visited their entertainment floor, which houses the lover’s sanctuary. This concludes our Momochi Seaside Park and Fukuoka Tower Tour. We’ll see you later on Nakasu Island for dinner. We’ve arrived on Nakasu Island to try our last Yatai stall. We found this Yatai stall after spending several
minutes checking out each stall’s menu. Let’s see if we made the right decision here. They are now preparing our orders. And here’s our orders. We got yakitori, hanger steak, and Hakata-style gyoza. The gyoza has a crunchy outside and a juicy, flavorful inside. Their yakitori is very smoky and tender. The steak is well-done, but we enjoyed it because it was not too chewy. We added this Hakata-style ramen as well. We loved the rich flavor of the pork broth and the perfectly al dente noodles in this ramen. I would rate our experience at this Yatai stall a 100/10. They absolutely exceeded our expectations, and their price is reasonable given the quality of the meal and service. We will certainly miss the Yatai stall experiences in Fukuoka. We hope to explore more during our upcoming visit. We’ll end the day with a quick gym session to burn off the calories we consumed during the day. That concludes our third day.Good night! :). It’s our last day here in Fukuoka. We’re flying back to Manila at 20:00. We need to get to the airport between
15:00 and 16:00 Since we still have plenty of time, we decided to stroll around Tenjin’s shopping area and buy a few items to bring back home. After visiting the Mina Tenjin Department Store, we chose to explore the nearby Tenjin Underground Mall. This is the largest underground shopping area in Kyushu. This place was amazing as the mall’s interior totally gives off vibes from nineteenth-century western Europe. You will also be able to view the amazing stained-glass artwork created in Milan, Italy. That’s for our quick stroll through the Tenjin Underground Mall. We are on our way to the airport. We totally had an awesome time here in Fukuoka. Fukuoka has a far more laid-back and relaxed atmosphere than Tokyo, and there are fewer tourists here. We’re at the airport now. Arigatou gozaimasu, Fukuoka! We are definitely going back to explore more of the prefecture’s wonders. Good bye for now, FUK!
