NIKKO Day Trip from Tokyo – Toshogu Shrine & Mysterious Kanmangafuchi Abyss | JAPAN

Nikko, Japan, is a small, serene, picturesque city nestled in the mountains and known for its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. It’s most famous for the ornate Toshogu Shrine which is dedicated to Japan’s first shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu.

Visiting Nikko is easily done as a day trip from Tokyo. We took the Tobu Skytree line from Asakusa Station straight to Nikko and also purchased our World Heritage Nikko Pass tickets from there too.

  1. Hi everyone! Hope you're all doing well ๐Ÿ™‚ Sorry we missed adding a correction in the video, meant to say Japan's first shogun – of the Tokugawa shogunate! Hope you enjoy the video and have a great day ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Ahhh Nikko Nikko Nikkoโ€ฆforever marking the first day ever a fresh ๐Ÿ“ was in the last phases of digestion in Yenโ€™s small intestine ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ˜‚โ€ฆ Was excited to finally see the peaceful yuba restaurant.. Yenโ€™s voice in the background saying โ€œI canโ€™t wait to try mineโ€ while Peter is eating ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. Musta looked/smelled really yummy! Yuba seems like something I can eat dailyโ€ฆ might have to look for some todayโ€ฆ looked super yum! Good job counting the jizo statues ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. If I ever go Iโ€™ll have to see if there are still 91 or the little buggers do some ใฐใ‘ shenanigans ๐Ÿ‘ป ๐Ÿ˜. Very cool to see the whole Nikko trip in a video after getting the preview in pics. Shots looked really niceโ€ฆ thanks guys and hope all is well! Missing Japan more and moreโ€ฆ

  3. Japanese architectural design is very beautiful, I hope I have a chance to experience it one day.
Thank you for sharing the wonderful time of your trip, well done โคโค๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅณ

  4. I love all the extra information you give, everything is beautiful but makes more sense with the commentary. And there is always time to showcase yummy food. Thanks again Peter and Yen ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

  5. you didn't see the bears while you were counting… probably decided not to eat you today. ๐Ÿป๐Ÿปโ€โ„๐Ÿงธ

  6. Wow, love the details that Peter captured for us of "Tokugawa shogunate" is mind blowing
How the structures have aged and color/shadow that is caught by the video is really nice (like the red texture)
I can only imagine that the shots will be even punchier had it been a sunny day, but not complains as the overcast weather allows good shots of the trees and surrounding

Love the spot that you guys were for your lunch, and Yen's soup noodles right for an outdoor yum with Ginger drink to wash it down

Bears, do they sell pepper spray? Unlikely, but hope they had feed them good or there is plentiful of food for them

Thank you both for sharing a lovely video for our Sunday morning and have a great week

  7. Stunning scenery ๐Ÿ‘Œ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ.
It's a shame that you never saw bears, I guess they were hibernating?

  8. NZ has a long standing association with Toshogu. Since the 1964 Olympics we have been gifting a White Horse. Most recent horse-Komaru was gifted in 2019 by Winston Peters. Used for ceremonies or even visible at the stables! Pre Covid there was even a small NZ gift shop!

  9. It was good to know that my memory was correct about Nikko and the three monkeys (I mentioned it on your Instagram post). The monkey carvings must have been refurbished/repainted as they were very faded when I saw them (a very long time ago). Thank you for all the interesting comments and sights at Nikko! I do not remember a bridge, signs for bears or any of those stone figures Yen was counting. As always, the tofu skin dishes you ordered looked delicious. I would have ordered the udon as it would be perfect as it was chilly out! Again, thank you for sharing and posting your travel vlogs.

  10. Some pretty cool stuff for sure! The artistry in the Asian countries you have been to is amazing. It must have been cool there though, as you both looked wrapped up pretty well.

  11. I cannot not remember if I have ever been to Nikko and this place but it does look similar ๐Ÿ˜…. In Kyoto, there's a shrine with many statues like these here and there's no way you can count lol. I forgot the name of the shrine, it's not far from the bamboo forest.

  12. Thanks for the info about that new train ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป. Love your videos ๐Ÿคฉ
    Hugs from Oslo ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ด

  13. Awesome video as always and very informative๐Ÿ‘. You made me think about tofu skinโ€ฆ.. they are so good. I like everything with tofu although not sure about stinky tofuโ€ฆ. Iโ€™ve heard about it but never had it yet.
