This week felt like a quiet shift on the homestead — one of those weeks that doesn’t scream for attention, but still changes everything. Friends arrived, garden starts finally went into the soil, and the tiny home studio floors really took shape.

It’s still raw. Still off-grid. Still evolving. But something about this week… felt like a turning point.

In this video, I make progress on my off-grid tiny home studio, start seeds for the high-elevation garden, spend time with friends, and keep showing up for the simple tasks that bring this place to life. Living off-grid in the desert has its quiet rhythm, and this week captured it perfectly.

Thanks for being here 🫶🏼

  2. those are the kind of friends you want in life – ones that will eat some home made soup in your tiny camper van.. lol.

  3. I love what you're doing here!! I lived in the high desert for four years after living in MN my whole life – and the "gardening" was definitely a challenge! Adapting to to an entirely different planting schedule and "dirt" that needed a lot added to it in order to produce was definitely interesting. I ended up planting tomatoes in February/March in a spot that got full sun until about only 1 pm – otherwise they'd be baked to a crisp. And man, do I remember that wind in the spring!! It's something else!!

  4. When you plant the starts you can break the peat pots apart and plant them directly just cut them open a bit so they don't get root bound.

  5. I thought the cable that connected your bluetti solar panels to the AC180 had a rectangular yellow plug (to insert in the front of the AC180). I only see a round DC port on the front of the new AC180's. Am I mistaken?

  6. Found you randomly but just binge watched all your videos the last two weeks. I am so inspired and feel such gratitude for people like you. Thank you

  7. I love to see your videos
I like you very much because you have a unique style of speaking which is most impressive ❤❤❤
    Love from Pakistan

  8. Just came across your videos a couple days ago and you are an awesome storyteller and video editor along with your amazing spirit in building your dream in the beautiful high desert country. Also impressed with all your power tools and laptop set up, etc. but have not yet seen what you do for power… Do you mind sharing your set up for electric power?

  9. Suggestion for growing rosemary! It's MUCH faster to just take clippings from a friend's plant, stick it in a glass of water and wait for roots to grow. Seeds take forever and are unreliable.

  10. Ok, several composting tips: 1. Never put oil or meat remains into compost – they poison compost. Those need special fungi to dissolve
. Use just plant remains. 2. It should have open bottom. 3. Buy a bunch of soil for plants – so you can get proper bacteria input in your compost. There are special bacterias for sure, but real soil gives better intake. 4. Get some soil worms into your compost. 5. When it is full, dig new hole for composting and leave current for at least 3 months to let the process finish and then use soil.

  11. The bloopers are so fun!!
Love the floor, the plants all sound delicious. It’s so nice your friends came to visit! ❤❤

  12. Ha. That last blooper. Wasn't quite a near miss, but likely was some mental swearing for the hyper vigilance it caused.

  13. I'm traveling, and I've been missing you. Finally found a quiet moment in an out-of-the-way place to sit and watch. You never disappoint!

  14. Brown paper bags are great for brown leaf material substitute. 3 bays built out of pallets make for good cubic dimensions for heating compost. 🙂
