■ 天竜浜名湖鉄道（天浜線）─ 70kmのスロートリップ

掛川〜新所原、39駅を結ぶローカル線。単行ディーゼルがコトコト揺らす２時間の旅は、窓外に里山と湖畔のパノラマが交互に現れる癒やしのフィルムロール。昭和初期の木造駅舎や文化財級の橋梁が随所に残り、１日フリーきっぷで途中下車ロケも自由自在。エンジン音をBGMにした車窓タイムラプスは、この路線ならではのごちそうです。

■ 浜名湖佐久米駅 ─ カモメと同じ目線で

Located on the JR Tokaido Main Line (CA37). Standing on the platform, you’re met with the expansive horizon of Lake Hamana stretching before you. At sunrise, the softly illuminated waters feel straight out of a movie’s opening scene. Just beneath the station, you’ll find footbaths and a seaside park within easy reach. Positioned along Route 1, the station offers superb car access, and drone footage can capture stunning views of the lake and bullet trains perfectly framed in a single shot.

■ Arai Checkpoint Museum ─ Experience Edo-Era “Security Checks”

Nestled along the historic Tokaido route in Arai, Kosai City, this faithfully reconstructed facility is Japan’s only existing Edo-period checkpoint. Step inside a tatami-floored guardhouse, where officials once scrutinized travelers’ permits—a scene straight from historical dramas. Exhibits including jail cell replicas and authentic stamping equipment are complemented by must-hear live explanations from volunteer guides. Capture the blend of tension and relief that characterized this Edo-period immigration checkpoint.

■ Tenryu-Hamanako Railway (Tenhama Line) ─ A Slow 70km Journey

Connecting Kakegawa to Shinjohara over 39 stations, this local line offers a leisurely two-hour ride aboard a single-car diesel train. Rolling gently through rural landscapes and lakeside panoramas, it provides a soothing, cinematic experience. Numerous early-Showa wooden station buildings and heritage-grade bridges dot the line. A one-day free pass allows unlimited filming opportunities at your leisure. Timelapse footage set to the rhythmic hum of the engine becomes a distinctive highlight on this unique railway.

■ Hamanako-Sakume Station ─ Eye-to-Eye with Seagulls

Upon stepping off the platform, you’re greeted by flocks of seagulls riding the gentle lake breeze.
