TOKOROZAWA, Japan (Kyodo) — Shinya Hasegawa hit a three-run home run to back a strong start by Chihiro Sumida as the Seibu Lions beat the Orix Buffaloes 3-0 on Saturday.


Sumida (4-0) struck out 11 over seven innings, scattering seven hits, all singles, with a walk in a 114-pitch outing at Belluna Dome. The Lions ended their losing streak at four games.


Hasegawa belted his first home run of the season in the fourth inning off Anderson Espinoza (0-1).


Kaima Taira pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his fifth save.


The Pacific League-leading Buffaloes suffered a shutout loss for the third time this season.


Among Saturday’s other games, the Central League-leading Hanshin Tigers extended their winning streak to six with a 6-2 victory over the Yomiuri Giants.


The Chunichi Dragons downed the Yakult Swallows 5-2 for their first win in four games.
