JAPAN AIRLINES A350-900 JL513 First Class – Tokyo Haneda To New Chitose, Weekend In Sapporo (4K)

After flying into Tokyo Haneda the day before on Qantas Flight QF59, it was an overnight stay at the Mercure Tokyo Haneda Airport before heading back to the airport the following morning for my Japan Airlines flight up to Sapporo.

For something different, and given the fares on offer, instead of sitting in the back row, I opted for the front row, in First Class.

At the time of booking this flight in late October, 2024 the fares were: (HND to CTS).
Economy Class: JPY 11,817 (AU$130)
Class J: JPY 13,907 (AU$155)
First Class: JPY 24,170 (AU$265)

Quite often the First Class fare on this route is double (Economy & Class J usually similar fares).

The views from the JAL lounge before the flight were outstanding, especially with Mt Fuji in all its glory on a clear day.

Due to the late arrival of our aircraft, it was slightly delayed, but this was well communicated.

Once onboard the flight, in Seat 1A the crew introduced themselves, and before long we were on our way, with the usual lineup of Ramp Crew bowing and waving (this never gets old).

The meal was excellent, especially being a domestic flight, and the views of the snow capped mountains and fields, made selecting a window seat a great choice.

Arrival into New Chitose was approximately 15 minutes late, and once at the gate it was very quick to collect my bag, and head down to the JR train platforms for the ride into Sapporo (My Tokyo Suica card worked flawlessly here).

After a quick freshen up at my hotel, it was time to do some exploring (and eating) as snow was started to heavily fall.

After many years, Qantas will be resuming direct flights to Sapporo from Sydney in December, 2025.. and yes, I already have tickets booked.
