  5. Welcome back! Even with a surge of new youtubers covering Japan rail topics, few cover topics like these with such deep insights as you do.

I have used all three trains depending on where I'm staying:
For the western side of the Yamanote like Shibuya and Shinjuku, N'EX seems to be the best bet. While it's not the absolute fastest, you don't have to do any transfers. I also find that the N'EX attracts a quieter crowd and the ambiance of the train cars is superior to the Skyliner. I don't like using N'EX for accessing Tokyo station as it's located like five levels underground. Maybe I have to try the buses next time.

Skyliner is the fastest definitely. I use it when I'm staying near Akihabara/Asakusabashi/Akabane. I find the boarding process both from Narita and from Ueno a bit too hectic. Is it just me or do families with kids gravitate towards this train? I will try alighting at Nippori next time. Buying the roundtrip ticket online is very easy.

Sky Access was perfect when I stayed in Ginza. Early mornings and late evenings are not crowded at all.

I've also tried taking a taxi to Narita. Even with the hotel discount the fare exceeded twenty thousand yen! (I was travelling with my boss who was in his seventies and he's not used to taking the train). Almost as the same cost as the roundtrip plane ticket!
